  1. warm rainy days are great but downpours i would avoid.
  2. lol thats a funny choice of words.
  3. b4 tightening the knot slide it down to you hook/lure and then tighten the knot will usually slide.
  4. gee its amazing how many guys in here like dicks lol ;D
  5. i would say the weight of the fish you catch is the luck part unless your using huge baits to catch bigger fish. 2 years ago at a club tourney at lake bomaseen in vermont all 10 boat had a limit of very small fish except 1 guy who only caught 1 fish. He won with a 7.1 pound lm just about everyone else had 5-6 pounds all runts. 5 fish limits
  6. dont get all bent out of shape. Nobody does well all the time. I was kidding around. My names John Rielly and you wouldnt of heard of me anyway i do local tourneys for now. Too busy with family and work to devote my entire life to fishing. I have a buddy that does bfl ken davison I pick on him even though he does well. he won the northeast championchip at lake champlain a couple years ago. Its all in fun never wanted to affend anyone.
  7. i cut the line as close as i can get it but not saying thats the right thing to do. I dont really know, doesnt happen much to me anyway. Are you using live bait.
  8. who said anything about an 882 nitro going 70mph. I was saying any boat that goes 70 and handles great. Not my boat. yes it goes 65 with gps reading. got everything i need in it good enough for me. Im not a pro like you with your best weight out of 8 tourneys for a day in bfl tourney at 5.6pounds you must be good. Some day if I keep practicing i just might be able to break that 5.6 record. Just having some fun with ya you did some research on finding out what type of boat i had so i did some research on you.
  9. when you guys say rough water what do you mean. Here at champlain we have 5-6 footers all the time its aboutas rough as it gets unless your fishing hurricane season. You say lower end boats are easier to handle , isnt that good??? boat does 70mph handles great whats the differance how much it cost. You consider skeeter a low end boat you guys must have alot of money to call a 30,000$-35,000$ boat low end. Most bassboats are made equally just like vehicles it all depends upon preferance.
  10. ive seen that too, I have seen one guy back up without the winch attatched and had the boat come off the trailer and then he hit the boat with the trailor. Made me laugh but would laugh if it happened to me. This same guy in about half of our tourneys forgets to put his plug in and has to reload the load + last year he unloaded and back into a rocky shorline had to go home. Not the best with boats i guess lol
  11. fishing around ferries???? I live in vermont its pretty hard to avoid it.lol
  12. try fiddling with the mag. put your lure of choice on.then reel to the top then release the cast button so the lure hits the ground. Adjust the mag or brake until it landssmooth without backlash. Doing this will make your casting much easier(no backlash)
  13. caught a brown trout with a rubberband around its head,2 snapping turtles,13lb sheephead, gar, lots of bowfin,
  14. buy a bow protecter so you can beach the boat without tearing up the bottom. Loading i just drive the boat on the trailer hitch the winch and climb on my truck to avoid getting soaked then pull out of peoples way the get everything else done. Nothing worse then waiting in a 100 degree truck while someone takes all day loading on the trailer
  15. if i had 5000 for a boat i would wait until i could get some more money because your going to want to upgrade ever year anyway
  16. wondering if bass are spawning in your state now. Vermont is mid may
  17. ive rid in many bass boats and as far as i can tell triton rides the worst and i like the wider beem boats like nitro. I also like skeeter.
  18. 1999 nitro 882 150 merc optimax lowrance electronics +gps moterguide trolling
  19. thats the weather here also but it getting better reached 45 today lol I like sunny light wind 70-80 water 70ish fish hold tight to cover and seems easier to find them
  20. for shore the palomar quick and 90-95% strength
  21. i dont know if your talking to me and if you are what bay. If your talking st albans bay then yes it was tough, i think its the tourney pressure. Try fishing out by the passage
  22. either way the fish will be close
  23. try the lowrance ifinder its sold on ebay for 150.00 or so. Awesome detail for a handheld + it comes with mapping
  24. i fish a few lakes like this and have found that the bass will stay shallow all year unless the water temp is extreme, then they may suspend close to shore structure off any kind of slope ,even a half a foot difference could be all the difference I find a buzzbait is great on these bodies of water . it will cover tons of water and will call up a fish from the depths to bite.
  25. we have a lake in vermont where 4 pound average is common but 6 pounds is crazy i dont believe it remember you catch a 6 pounder then a 2pounder its now a 4 pound average.
