  1. by far a zoom salty centipede. It is great t rigged, wacky rigged carolina and especially dropshot rigged.
  2. is it a pesticide or a herbacide? Because I noticed that when they use the herb the bass dont stop biting its just they relocate because of weed die off.
  3. There was a tourney on champlain with a 6 bass limit of smallies last year at 27 + . My personal best was a 8 bass limit 35+ 2 person team.. During practice at a lake here in vermont I have pulled -30-40 bass in a day 4 plus pounds with 5 or so in the 5+ range. Its sounds crazy but if your a tourney fisherman in vt you know the body of water im talking about and you no its no lie..
  4. looks like a peacock bass with a browntrouts sides...
  5. sorry about the loss. :'( Its nice to be able to clear your mind by fishing. It seems like now people whould vent by commiting a crime or doing drugs. I have always felt like a was blessed by loving to fish. It always kept me out of trouble and made me appriciate nature..
  6. I fell your pain. Try busting 3 rods in a day. All after the day I got them... A buddy of mine convinced my to try some tica rods, he said for the price they couldnt be beat. I walked out of the store with 3 rods and as soon as I got home I rigged them up for the next days trip. On the first hookset on a small bass it snapped near the handle??? I chucked it in the rod locker and picked up the other. Them snap and so on...After the day was up I went to the tackle shop were he worked and told him the story. The owner refunded all 3 rods and asked if I wanted to replace them with more ticas..... I ended up putting all 3 rods $$ into a 2 kistler rods... I never before that day busted a rod and havent since...
  7. Im guessing slowing down would be best. More than likely the bass are suspending and a good lure choice is a susp jerkbait. Try throwing it out and only moving it once a minute or so. This will try your patients but will be worth it in the end. Remember bass will very rarly go down for a bait while there suspended,, thats why your jigging hasnt been doing the trick.
  8. I would try something small 8 inch or so. Also you should use water from the pond or lake the bass was caught . I think tap water eventually kills em.
  9. yep they are best when the bass have there attention on shad or any minnows. Also pretty good on spawners but I prefer BRIGHT CHARTREUSE it can be seen better than white or even pink.
  10. wow nice pikeral. How long my guess is 28 inches
  11. yep pointer 100 in the rainbow trout color. It sucks losing 20 bucks to a pike though..
  12. This year I fished the most I ever have. But its still not much around 35 trips not counting ice fishing
  13. Here at champlain we have alot of gar, last time I checked champlains bass fishery is doing pretty well ;D
  14. yes this was a fat fish I think it was 15.75 girth and 21.5 inches long. He is getting a replica done by basspro shops. My 6 pounder on the other post was longer but had no gut. Between me and the people I have took to this lake we have gotten 12 over 6lbs. This was my first time there this year, I dont know why I dont go more often?????
  15. vermont:::: a 7 would be an amazing fish for a lm. Out of exactly 900 bass I have caught this year I have gotten one 6lber , six in the 5+ range and just over forty 4+ bass. For smallies I would say it would have to be a 6 pounder just because I fish a lake where I catch 20 four pound + smallie a trip.
  16. it wont let me put this pic on with the other post so here it is
  17. whats your best 5 bass limit in tourney and what state did it happen. Smallies or largemouth. My all smallie limit was 23.75 out of lake seymour vermont. And my 5 best @ champlain 24.8 ..all largemouths
  18. black and blue jig rigged with a black gulp batwing frog as a trailer.
  19. theres on pic the other will go on tommorow i need to go to work
  20. a couple days ago I posted catching 3 five pounders on as many casts. Today Me and a buddy went to a lake where I have caught some hawgs and we pulled 2 sixes at the same time. His a 6.2 and his largest ever and my fish was right at 6.0 . Its the first time I have had two 6+ lbers in my boat at the same time. Here in vermont we dont pull to many bass like that. Im at work now but I will put a pic later.
  21. I have logged all my trips since 1998. I use a simple notebook. I record the obvious stuff like day ,time, temps, fish caught, lures used weather wind etc.. I also keep track of total bass caught. As of today 854.... 431lm and 423sm. My biggest bass lm at 6.7 and smallie 5.2. I also Keep track of my biggest bass by lake. It actually helps alot in tourneys.
  22. I agree with tin. There seems to be the same sized fish on the beds year after year. And I wouldnt be surprised if the beds are made as close as a couple inches apart as the year b4. I have a place I go where every year I pull a 5lb smallie.
  23. Today I took two friends out to a local pond. The weather was terrible, the air temp @ 45 and water @ 55. and wind was howling. It was 2 hours into the day before I pulled a 3.5 lm. Then pulling 2 more 3+ lms on as many casts. It was then 2 hours later when the next fish came off a black & blue jig on a falling pine tree. It was a heafty 5.0lm and just like before 2 more the same size on two more flips in there. 3 five pound lm on 3 casts , I was amazed.. 6 bass for the day all off that one spot and no bass anywhere else.
  24. I have had a very good hookset rate using the bigger hooks like 1/0 or 2/0. The fish dont seem to mind. I avoid the small hooks because the smallies tend to swallow it quickly. The circle hook is another good choice because you really dont need to set the hook, I use them on lite line to avoid the breakoffs on the hookset.
  25. dont know whats up with that but I have caught some strange ones over the years.. I caught a largemouth that was so thin I could put my hand behind it up raise it up with the sun in the background and I could see through it.. I have also caught a smallie that was almost blue in color.
