  1. Don't have the trigger rod - but I do have the 6'3" MF spinning version paired with a Pflueger Supreme 8030MG. I've been using it since April for weightless/sinkerless 4" and 5" worms and have been very pleased with the castability, sensitivity, and backbone of the rod. I think it is well worth $70.00..................TJ
  2. RW, Thanks for the welcome! Your suggestion on trying different lines is commendable, however, your assumption that I haven't experimented with alternatives to XL is wrong. I've been fortunate enough to find myself in the position to fish 200 days a year or so for the past decade and have found that XL is the best choice for my type of fishing I know it may not meet everyone's needs. I like the stretch of mono and, with the drag set correctly, I've never had a fish break me off BUT I do want to be able to break it off at the hook when I get snagged because I've seen too many water birds, otters, and other wildlife fouled in braid and heavier lines. Fishing is a catharsis for me and I like to keep it simple. I guess the point of my post is simply this: If the original poster is happy with XL, then continue to use it. Just because something is not cutting edge technology doesn't make it inferior to newer products. Take careTJ
  3. I've never posted before, but adding to this thread seemed as good a time as any I've used Trilene XL exclusively for the past few years 6lb and 8lb (I like finesse fishing). I've caught many large fish over the years and it's never failed me I'm a Cracker from Central Florida, so they're only green fish and don't fight very hard (so I hear), but I DO CARE about landing them. : ;D ;D ;D Fish what you like and like what you fish!!! ;D ;D ;D
