I'm going to hit up cabelas tonight. I just keep getting this feeling that I don't have to spend 150 on a rod to get a good one. Hell my ugly stick catches fish all the time. Is there anything I should go out of my way to look at?

So Ive thrown in the towel with my baitcasting set up, st croix avid/AG revo. I just cant get use to the way it feels in my hand. So Im looking to go back to a spinning combo. The rod doesnt have to be an st croix avid, but I would like something on that end of the spectrum. I dont want to down grade. I mainly fish with plastics. What rod would you reccomend and what reel? I havent bought a spinning reel in decades. Im looking for a few good suggestions. Thanks guys, Justin

I live in Macungie and found the alburtis nimrod lake. Most people fish for trout there, but I've pulled 12 baby bass out of there in the last 2 days. Momma has to be around somewhere.

Guys, I've just gotten back into bass fishing and I've had a AG Revo on a st croix rod just sitting around. I'm right handed and crank with my left hand on spinning rigs. This is pretty new to me and I'm thinking I should have a left handed BCR. Should I stick with this right handed rig, or give up and sell this one for a lefty?

What knot do i use to secure the line to the arbor of the reel? Ive tied arbor knots, but they keep slipping if I pull hard enough. Any recommendations?

I joined Ranger tonight. It was 50 bucks, but looks like I have a lot of realistate to cover. There was a nice aluminum boat and trailor posted there for sale I might take a look at with my tax return.

Looks like Ill be taking a trip up to ranger lake this week and joining.

Im tired of fishing all the same unlucky spots. Im also tired of trout. Anyone point me in the right direction of some quality bass areas? looking for someone to fish with too!

How about tiring on a spinner bait? What knot/method is best used there?

Once I read that and adjusted the reel some I noticed a 100% improvement. Still got the occasional rats nest, but it seems to have helped drastically. My next question is accuracy of the cast. It seems like the majority of my casts are going way left. Seems like I have to release the spool very early compared to the spinning reel.

Ok guys, be gentle. LOL. Anyways, I picked up the Abu Revo SC from Cabelas. Couldnt resist the price along with the great reviews. It was at my door when I got home so I had to try it out. I put it on my uglystick and spooled with 14lb Stren Duratuf. Reel looked real nice, until I started making casts. ;D Before I started I tied on a practice plug and went at it in the front yard. WOW! talk about a mess at my thumb :-/ So I reeled in and tried again. Same thing. As I cast, Im lightly applying pressure with my thumb to control the barrel. Did that about 20 times and called it a day. The line is reeled in, but is a tangled bad under what I reeled in last. Is there anything I can do with what I have now? I need some help learning to use this thing. :) TIA

What knot are you guys using to tie new line to your spool. I bought my wife a whoopin' stick, LOL(she liked it because it is blue). Anyways, I need to spool line onto her reel and surprisingly, I can't find a thread as to what is the proper knot to tie when spooling new line onto a reel. Like I said, its silly but I couldnt find it anywhere and I just wanted to know the proper way to tie it on.

I saw this and couldn't pass on it with such great reviews from you guys. It will be my first bait caster. I was going to put it on my ugly stick, but I think I'm going to take that back and get something else. Any recommendations?
