  1. Lake Cuyamaca has a some small mouth, but it is catch and release only! www.lakecuyamaca.org/
  2. What characteristics would effect flippin docks?
  3. I replaced mw old MG with a new MG45 wireless and Love it! It is easier to use with less fatigue than the foot control on a wired unit and is mobile if you choose not to permanetly mount it. The extra handheld remote works great as well! I also like the ease of the quick release mount which, actually kept it from getting ripped off when my outboard was stolen.
  4. Chevy/Ford! You know what you prefer or like whatever the reason. Go wireless! Something very conveient and easier to use! Takes less space, and for a few axtra $$$ you get a handheld smaller than an IPOD! I have an MG 45. and it's fantastic!
  5. Great question! I recently lost my 4 stroke 15 hp to theft and have been researching the very same topic. I have a 15 ft jon with decks and bow trolling motor as well. The industry has a formula based on (I believe) weight and flotation. I read about this on one of the online marine vendors that sell outboards and the U.S. Coast gaurds web site. The USCG only mentions weight as a factor. This being the case check the specs section online for different manufactures and you will find that many different sized motors are similer or the same weight. I myself am going to go from the original 15 hp to an 18hp (Nissan) because they are both the same weight for only an extra $150. My 15 hp pushed my boat at about 20 mph with 2 people, which is fine for m Remember a 4 stroke is heavier than a 2 stroke but it is much quieter and cheaper to run. Good Luck! I look forward to any additional input as well.
  6. Thanks, I think I will try the added protection of the castle nut with a locking key or wire! I have lost some freinds to the Tweaker state of mind and know what they can do! These guys are persistant, driven (chemically fueled) and are like RATS in SoCal.! I hope this infestation doesn't come to your "Neck of the Woods" but its been here since the early 70's and keeps getting worse! Be Vigilent and "GO FISH" PHIL.
  7. Hi Catt, I got my motor lock today but I'm a little confused about bolting through transom. It seems that it would slow the theives down by having to undo the bolts, but in the long run wouldn't that alone defeat the lock? After thinking about it, would it help to use castle nuts and a cotter pin or safety wire under the lock? Or would it be better to use a carriage bolt from the outside in? Phil.
  8. ;)I like it! Although not as descriptive as others I've Heard! Just as good! My only hope is that I meet up with the #@$&%s first so then the cops can find them in the truama center to get there statements!
  9. Last wed. 08/22/2007 some low life tweaker stole the 15 hp 4 stroke off of my jon boat! I am just starting to calm down and it has been an expensive learning experience! My main question is what is the best device/lock on the market to keep my motor and boat together? Thanks Phil. P.S. I have posted the details of this incident on craigslist (San Diego) and on bloodydecks.com under chit chat if you are local to socal.
