Motor Guide Wireless

Featured Replies

Anyone have any experience or word of mouth of the Motor Guide Wireless trolling motor? Its about time I get a new TM and I'm curious about these. Seems to me it would open up some more space for me in the front. What I have noticed is that they don't have the #s of thrust as the others (but 80# is enough for me) and they're cheaper than the Tour Digital Series - I'm not sure why this is.

Any reviews would be appreciated!

Of the people I know who have them, none are real big bass anglers.  But, I have the MK powerdrive, which is the MK electric steer version of that.  The electric steer isn't the greatest for bass fishing.  Real pain in the neck.  I would recommend a conventional style motor, as I am about to get a new one.

PS, if you know anyone selling a MK Maxxum, in 60 to 80 pound thrust, let me know.

PPS, if you know anyone who wants a 50 pound powerdrive, let me know.

Thank you. I will keep my ears open.

I have had the MG Wireless with built in transducer for about 7 months.  Mixed results.

The reason we bought one is we have a small front deck on our boat, so it works out very well since it has a small foot pedal and it is moveable.

However, on the models with built in transducers, they have had issues with the nose cones cracking.  They just recently fixed the issue as they re designed the nose cone with a different material.  Time will tell.

Also, the steering isn't exact.  Since it is electric, sometimes its hard to go straight.  Not too bad but takes some getting use to.

The extra key fab does come in very handy when the person at the bow has to re tie; a 2nd person in teh rear of the boat can continue to fish using the key fab.

If you don't have space issues on your front deck, I would go with a conventional model.

good luck

I replaced mw old MG with a new MG45 wireless and Love it! It is easier to use with less fatigue than the foot control on  a wired unit and is mobile if you choose not to permanetly mount it.

The extra handheld remote works great as well!

I also like the ease of the quick release mount which, actually kept it from getting ripped off when my outboard was stolen.

I love fishing docks. I've been told this would be a bad motor for flipping docks. Do you all agree?

What characteristics would effect flippin docks?

What characteristics would effect flippin docks?

Its slower steering.  With docks, you need the boat EXACTLY in the right place.  With the electric steer, it is all to hard to steer in precise amounts.  You have to fight the zig zagging occasionally.  Hard to fish a stump field too.
