I like the Gambler Giggy Head and the spot remover, but I think as long as you buy one from a reputable company it'll do the trick.

IMO, X-Raps are one of the best jerkbaits on the market. Their action is a little more erratic than other brands, and they can really drive the fish crazy. They'll work year-round, and as long as your lake isn't too weedy, they're always a good bet.

Quick question about Panther Martins... When I use inline spinners I use Blue Fox almost exclusively - I like how they spin continuously and immediately when you retrieve, and how you get zero line twist. Is it the same with Panther Martins? No line twist? Thanks... P.S. If you haven't used inline spinners for bass/pickerel/perch/crappie/bluegill, I highly recommend it. I've been messing around with them a lot lately from shore, and they're a blast. You'd be surprised at the size of the fish that will hit them too 8-)

Yeah, I guess I'd wear them, but I wouldn't enjoy it. And with the $100K's I'd buy a multitude of Columbia fishing shirts, straw hats, and flip flops ;D

The whole situation makes me want to vomit. Aside from the perception of BASS, it just pains me to think of all those huge bass that were killed. What a waste. By the way, is this the first time such a significant kill has ever happened? That would surprise me...

I think all those sponser-covered shirts look horrendous. I don't care about having sponsers on them at all - the sponsers make pro bass fishing possible, and if it weren't for pro bass fishing, I'm sure we'd have much less tackle and gear to choose from, and probably less knowledge about bass fishing in general. I just think those NASCAR-style shirts do not fit fishing at all. If I were a pro basser, I'd wear a fishing shirt like those Columbia ones (that are awesome ), and probably a straw hat and flip flops. Maybe a couple sponsor names/logos, but not those obnoxiously loud atrocities 8-)

For bass, probably just a black 5" Senko. For all types of fishing, a white bucktail jig.

I like EWG superline hooks for a couple of reasons. The weight and the shape. The hook acts kind of like a rudder and seems to prevent line twist better than a regular offset hook, and seems to promote better action. The downside to the hook is that the wire is a little thicker, so you may have to set the hook a little harder than with a thin wire hook to drive it home. However, I don't *think* I've ever missed a fish because of the wire diameter.

Sorry to hear that, I know exactly how you feel. We had to put two dogs to sleep, dogs that I had grown up with. Those were two of the saddest days of my life. The first time we left the room right after the vet injected our German Shepphard, *****, and I'll never forget as we walked out, my mom called her name and she kind of half perked her ears up and looked at us. Second time, our Beagle, Marlin (a.k.a. Fatboy), died in our arms as the vet injected him. Good luck, and it sounds like Felix had a great home to live in.

At least a couple times each outing my brother will make a hard cast and the bait will stop mid-air about 20-30 feet out and fall to the water because his bail closed. Every time I remind him in a matter-of-fact voice, "You have to open the bail to cast." A couple times I told a serious story, "You know, I've been reading a lot about bass fishing lately, and all the pros agree about a very important, yet little-known secret in bass fishing. Right before you cast with a spinning setup, you need to open the bail."

My thoughts exactly. I recently gave Sufix Performance Braid a very fair try, but didn't like it as much as Power Pro. Granted, it's still a good braid, but a little more wiry, and actually a little louder on the reel. Because of the wiriness, it didn't cast quite as far as PP. Another annoying thing about Sufix was when I first used it (yellow color), the powdered dye came off on my guides and on my hands. Unless something new comes out, I'm sticking with my Power Pro. I took the Sufix off the spinning setup I was using and replaced the Power Pro, and it's just more of a pleasure to fish, IMO.

x2 ;D It depends on what you mean by "good". The term is too vague. I don't think you could be a scratch golfer, and win fishing tournaments regularly, if you have a full-time job, unless you're really talented. Without a job, anything is possible...can't wait 'til retirement! (I'm 24)

So many times it's easy to look down on someone or criticize someone, but if you knew his situation, you would not be criticizing. For example, you see a mother in a subway staring ahead blankly while her children are running amock, bothering people, and screaming. Your first instinct would be to label her as an irresponsible mother, but if you found out she was on her way back from the hospital where her husband passed away and was wondering how to explain it to her kids, you wouldn't think to criticize her at all.

I usually drink beer, but if I'm drinking whiskey, I'll usually go Jameson or Crown. I've had a couple bottles of Japanese whisky, *****, and that was really good... My dad used to be a huge drinker, and he said the best scotch he's ever had in his life was Ballantine's 30 year old...he got me a bottle for my college graduation, which I still have not cracked...still waiting for a special occasion, but this stuff is gonna be amazing

I have the 7'2" spinning version of the Crucial dropshot rod, and I assume the casting version is equally good. I'm very happy with it, and actually, like you, don't dropshot too often, but it serves many purposes, especially for throwing light baits in relatively open water. It doesn't have too much backbone, but it's very light and sensitive. Out of curiosity, why would you want a casting dropshot rod instead of spinning? It seems like it would be an unnecessary hassle...
