  1. I would wait. I was fishing a couple weeks ago where I would reel in the line and get ice on the eyelets, so I decided that was enough and went home for a few weeks.
  2. I read that same article, but haven't tried it. I looked on the internet to see if anyone else was saying the same thing, but couldn't find anything. (Mostly just Spit'n'Image lures I would think it works or at least, as the article said, to help offput other odors from your hands touching it.
  3. I don't really change colors when I find that a lure is effective- I have found that in one river I fish a 3" pumkinseed PowerGrub on a jighead works great. The next time, I tried a chartruese PowerGrub, and caught about half the amount. I then tried pumkinseed again and caught tons. So, for that river, it seems like that one color works best. I also have a topwater Rapala in trout, and I have caught tons of fish on it. I agree that presentation and technique probably matter more, but it seems like some colors the bass like again and again.
  4. I often go fishing on a small river- about 40-50' feet wide. The river is only about 4-5 feet deep, but in some holes it can get as deep as 15 or 20. I wade in and use a powerbait 3" power grub and I often catch 12-14" smallmouth. I was wondering if anyone had tips on other ways to fish in small rivers or other lures that could be used.
  5. I really like boat fishing a lot more than bank fishing- easier to cast, you can bump something like a jig down a ledge as the water gets deeper, you can fish on both sides of the lake or river. Also, a lot of times when you get stuck you can just go to the other side of what you are stuck on, like a log, and just reel in. That said, I often find myself bank fishing.
  6. I use the improved clinch knot just because it was the first one I was taught and the one I have always used. The only time I ever had a problem with a knot was a long time ago when I had no idea about fishing or knots. I hooked a big pike and the pike just ripped the line. That taught me a lesson about knots.
