  1. I just purchased a 2008 Avid 7'0" spinning rod for $180, but you can find the 2007 series Avid at BPS on sale for about $111.
  2. After taking your advice, and spending all that money on a new outfit, and then listening to the suggestions as to what to say to the wife, I've come up with a solution that seems far better than diamond earrings! What I thought I should say was that in order to justify the cost, I would have to go fishing at least 3 times a week for the next year. If I can average 10 lbs of fish per week that would be 520 lbs for the year, and at a mere $1.00 per lb, that would more than pay for the outfit. I also would say that if my average lbs weren't high enough, I might be forced to go fishing 4 or even 5 days a week; and that I would be willing to make that sacrifice for her. Whatda ya think?
  3. OK I guys, I followed most of your advice. Went a bit heavier because will probably fish salt water inshore and ICW at least 50% of the time. Got one of the new '08 St. Croix Avids7' one piece Medium Fast and a Team Daiwa Tierra 3000. Spooled it with 6 lb for bass and 12 lb for the ICW. Hope this will be a good set up. Only problem is; now what do I say to the wife when she sees how much I spent? Thanks for your help.

  5. Its been a long time, used to fish trout (UL and Fly) every day, but then for years couldn't find the time. Now I got the time, but no equipment. Boy has the technology changed! We have a small lake behind our house that is filled with bass. Average size 2 4 lbs, a few larger. Also will drown an occasional shrimp around the docks, etc. on the ICW in southwest Florida. Considering a St. Croix Premier PS 6'0 one piece Ultra Light - Fast and a Shimano Symetre 1500 with 4lb test. and maybe 6lb for the Intracoastal Waterway. Will the rod and reel match up? Should I use braid or what line do you recommend? Thanks for any help or direction.
