  1. if i had to pick one type of rod for 3/8 oz and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits it would be a 7ft mh/ fast rod. Personally i would recommend a loomis mbr843 if you want it under 7ft then the mbr783. they are both great all-around rods as well
  2. Same here!! The last 4 rods I have purchased have been w/ black foam. There's just something it... it's slowly taking over my collection.
  3. I agree w/ Leo on the power and action of the rod. The rod is under-rated. I have the 66mXF and it's stiff compared to my loomis' medium power, more like st croix's. I can't comment on the Fast action ones, but i'm sure that will have a softer tip. But the sensitivity is surprisingly amazing, must be the huge exposed blank under the reel and it looks great. Did i say it looks great 8-)
  4. For the small plastics, is it being rigged weighless, T-rigged?
  5. What are you guys using/throwing with your Medium Extra Fast casting rods lately??
  6. Definitely the BPS combo that has the citica. Make sure they give you a box for the reel so you can send in the rebate.
  7. THe monkey actually blindsided you That is a great choice for shallow to mid depth crankbaits. You will be very happy w/ it.
  8. So what rod did you get? You should post some pics.. Glad you're happy w/ your early xmas present.
  9. Good choice... the sjr782 was my first loomis and its perfect for finesse fishing for lmb w/ light cover and great for skipping under docks. Since then the baitmonkey has gotten me to buy more loomis', unfortunately the monkey is the type that likes the glx's ;D
  10. you can try a 6 or 7 inch robos if you're fishing w/ ~1/2oz bullet head. not sure what type of cover you have at your lake or water clarity.
  11. For casting, there's a 2pc version of the mbr783. I have the one piece glx version and it's my favorite. http://products.gloomis.com/gl/products/alltackle/detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441760564&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302032505&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181201&bmUID=1197502658860
  12. No backlashes at all and i can cast relatively far. The line is on tight, too tight initially since i spooled it up to the brim and i had to take line off since it "poofed" up on me the next day fishing. ;D I was unsure if i made the right line choice in choosing 8lbs test for Ultra soft on baitcasters since i fish very clear waters here. Would i have the line coming off the top of the spool if i decide to put it in my spinning reel? Regards, Bert
  13. I have the ultra soft's on 2 of my baitcasting combo. both the 8lb test. It's definitely better than the trilene mono that i use to use except for the memory, especially after i haven't fished for a while. Could it be that it's too light of a line for baitcasters? Other than that its been great it doesn't feel "dried out" like mono Tin or RW do we spool the line clockwise or counter clock wise for spinning reels w/ the ultra softs?
  14. I also recommend the clarus... My nephew has the 6"6' spinning one and he loves it. And a couple of the guys i fish w/ have a few clarus rods in their bass setup. Regards, MaR
  15. i just bought a chronarch mg for myself that my wife was suppose to get me for xmas. Bait monkey couldn't wait...I'd rather tick off my wife than the bait monkey.
  16. i haven't had to lie since i rarely catch anything worth hiding My nephew is pretty bad though he tells others that he's caught so and so at wherever and also that he's caught x amount more than you. i had to remind the kid a couple of times that it's not right. Kids ;D
  17. i believe the rebate will only be honored if it was purchased at "msrp". :'( http://www.tackletour.net/T3Forum/viewtopic.php?t=24253
  18. +1 on the citica as well. Shimano is giving a $30 mail in rebate on the citicas. i'd get the 200d or 201d
  19. i would just get the gl2 if you are deciding between the gl2 or gl3. I have one when i started out but now i'm buying imx's and glx', so it's a no win situation However if you plan on getting a gl3 then spend time looking for an imx instead on the flea market you can get them for cheap and i've seen plenty of imx's at the same price of a retail gl3.
