  1. Easy there big fella. Look at the dates it took a while before I heard anything. I just thought no one had really messed with it. Not knockin' anyone down. I got plenty of responses it was just a day or two. It was actually a little longer here so I realized it wasn't done much because of the physicalities of the stuff. Thanks for all the info.
  2. were you using the clear alumilite or something else?
  3. I was just wondering if anyone has used or seen used the sea eagle boat that folds up. I can't remember the actual name of it but it looks pretty slick if it works like it says. It would probably be real tough in the wind, but still those far out lakes in Canada would be fishable by boat if I could get to them on a 4 wheeler. I always thought that's what they made snow mobile trails for in the summer. Just curious if anyone was familiar with it. Thanks, Dan The name of the boat I was thinking of is the Fold Cat
  4. I know they make the stuff I was just wondering if it will work for cranks. I have the tacklemaking bood and I know that you can make some kinds of lures out of clear resin but I just don't know that it will work for cranks. I was curious about alumilite clear. I don't know what all the numbers mean as far as viscosity and all that so I was hoping some else has some insight. If the alumilite clear would work I was thinking that the microbubbles would make it cloudy and therefore the clear lip(the only reason I want to use clear) would be cloudy also. Someone help out PLEASE!!! I tried over at TU and got no response. I hope that is different here. Thanks in advance. Dan
  5. didn't mean to mislead anyone
  6. they are just the unpainted cranks from netcraft. I'm pretty sure they are oem from lucky craft. I'm also pretty sure that some of the guys on ebay sell them as repainted lucky craft even though they they. got them from the same place I did. I don't really have a problem with that if they are sure they are made at the same place. My guess is they are but it's hard for me to sell a crankbait as something if I'm not sure of it. Jann's calls them MD slim I believe. The other ones are the big and small springer. Which are just like the pointer except they don't have the scall pattern. Anyway they seem like good baits. They are definetly good looking baits. I can't wait until I get emough time to start casting my own designs. That will be even cooler I think. Until then this is pretty awesome. Thanks for the comments. Dan
  7. Tell me what crank you would like painted in the perch pattern and I'll do it for under $100. ;D
  8. I should have told you although you probably already know this, the lead splatters after a few drips, and gets all over the place. I just move mine around so it isn't dripping in exactly the same place all the time.
  9. Put something under it and catch the drip. I tried to clean mine once because of the same problem and it didn't seem to help. Mine is an older one. Sometimes it drips and sometimes not.
  10. Thanks for the comments guys this is way too much fun!!!
  11. Just a few other crankbaits I've been working on. Let me know what you think. Dan
  12. And thus the debate begins. I have heard of the poor man's patent for years but have also heard that it won't hold up. Maybe I don't understand it very well, but how am I supposed to know that some guy came up with the same idea if it's stuck in an envelope in his basement. I can't help it if I sold something that I had the same idea and happened to sell the same thing or get a patent for it the legal way. It would definitely proves when you came up with the idea, but how am I supposed to know you came up with it. That's the whole point of the patent office. You don't sell something without proper dues that someone else has the rights to. I hope I'm wrong about this, which is extremely possible, but I would love to use this if it truly would hold up in court. Sorry for the book I would just love to know for sure. There has to be a lawyer who fishes on this forum. Surely their not all to good to bait a hook or touch a slimy fish. ;D Just kidding lawyers. let us know if you can.
  13. Here are a couple other patterns I tried. The one is a longear sunfish and the other a yellow perch.
  14. I think rubbing alchohol would work to thin but i'm not sure. I think it's basically the same thing though. Thanks for all the comments on the baits guys can't wait to paint some more. Dan
  15. probably should go for the iwata. I haven't used them but have heard nothing but good things. gravity feed that is. The paasche I have has some issues but works for me right now. It seems hard to get good detail work without a stencil. It's probably just me though. People seem to like the badger also. No matter what the paasche is the standard of the industry but the standard isn't always the best just a measuring stick. Dan
  16. elduderino, I use a paasche vl airbrush and createx paint. Devcon 2 ton for the clear coat. I thin the devcon. I have no idea how some of these guys apply that stuff without thinning it. It's just too thick for me to handle it without thinning it.
  17. That was obviously one of the easiest to paint, but would probably catch more bass than the others. Some may do better in certain situations but over all the threadfin pattern would probably outfish them. Makes ya wonder if the more complicated patterns are meant to catch more fishermen than fish. That won't keep me from trying to paint more complex patterns though, it's too much fun.
  18. just tried some crankbait painting for the first time. Lots of fun. Let me know what ya think. Dan
  19. Has anyone used the Mudhole custom builder rod blanks. The ones that are under 20 bucks or so and several different colors? The are IM6. I was just wondering if they are any good.
  20. Thanks for all the comments guys. There's nothing like catching fish on baits you made yourself. It's good to know that other fisherman think they look good.
  21. I used Createx Paint and an airbrush w/devcon 2 ton as a clearcoat. I used to hand paint with vinyl paint but this is much easier and cheaper and while i'm at it you can get better paint patterns with the airbrush. Here's another one.
