  1. I fish only artificial bait, but this would be one time that I would try LIVE BAIT. Maybe this would entice the fish to bite. It would be worth a try. It would help you to at least locate the fish.
  2. Rattlinrogue and I live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (53 miles from the Gulf of Mexico) and home to the largest National Guard base in the world, Camp Shelby. As "Rogue" said, we fish local public lakes and ponds, but since 9-11, one of our favorite lakes is now unavailable. We loved to fish on a small lake of the military base, but that area is now off limits due to military using live amo at the firing/bombing ranges. Now we fish predominantly at a state park near our home where we consistantly catch bass ranging from 2-7 lbs. and at least once monthly we will land a lunker 8-10 lbs.
  3. I am a female angler. Fished with my daddy (who tournament fished many years in the Mississippi/Louisiana area) and fished recreationally 5 days a wk. Married one just like dear ole dad, but took time off to start family. Am back full-time fishing now due to a disability and forced retirement at 42. I was as Elementary School Principal and teacher for 21 yrs. Happily married to Rattlinrogue, with 3 kids, 2 boys/1 girl (2 in college: one studying to be a teacher and the other to be a lawyer.) Looking forward to any tips. AND MOST IMPORTANT, WE ALWAYS CATCH AND RELEASE.
  4. We ALWAYS catch and release. These bass were guarding the bed...not a fat one in the bunch, just very nice size. I could see them so clearly, and it was killing me to be ignored! lol
  5. I grew up fishin with my dad who also tournament fished. So many days we loaded the boat with bass during and immediately after a rain. (According to my dad), the rain brings the much needed extra oxygen and also cools the water. This turns on the fish.
  6. Good Friday, hubby and I were fishing a local state park. There was a grassbed 20' x 10' in 12 inches of water. Center of grassbed was clear. We could see three bass weighing approx. 8-10 lbs on beds. I threw floating and suspending jerkbaits, spinners, worms and lizards literally right on top of their heads. They "nosed" the baits and yurned slowly away not inerested. Any suggestions as to what I should do next time??? (next to scooping then up with the net lol)
  7. I fish in a black kini from March- October. Color has never affected my catch! Glad to know that there are other bass fishin ladies kini fishin too!
  8. I have found that top water jerkbaits are really a "reaction bait". If you throw it enough over the place where you know there are bass, they will eventually hit. Stay with it for a while..don't give it up and change baits or colors so quickly. Topwater baits are working well down here in south Mississiippi already (began in March). We have caught 10+ bass weghing 5-13 lbs already!
