Smallmouth License Plate
Here in Illinois we have a similar series of plates called the sportsman's series. They have three plates one with a largemouth, pheasant, and deer. Like you other guys have there is an extra fee that is supposed to be given to I believe wildlife funding. Given a city ordinance in Chicago it is actually better to have one because if you have the normal "B" business plate on your pickup you get a ticket if you park on a side street. You actually see alot of those plate because they are only of the only plates that allow you to park your truck on the street. Although it does help the wildlife in a way just another crazy Chicago ordinance. bassdocktor

Osprey Products
Hey guys I'm having a problem. My dad and I ordered a rod organizer from Osprey Products a little over a month ago. Well we were kinda getting concerned because we haven't received it yet. About 4-5 days ago we called them only after having an email go unanswered for about a week. Dad called them again yesterday and again left a message. Now a little over a month since the initial order which was confirmed and charged to the credit card we have no rod organizer, email response or verbal communication. Obviously dad is calling the credit card people but this doesn't seem right. I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with Opsrey before because as you can imagine we are kinda worried. In case you were wondering how we found them they advertise in the back of Bass and Walleye Boat magazine. Any input especially if you've had dealing with them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, bassdocktor

UIC update
Hey guys just thought I'd give you all an update. Well looks like we will be getting our club set up at the University of Illinois at Chicago maybe by the end of the month or the beginning of next. I'm in the final stages of doing the charter and getting everything else together. I need your help with this project. If you know of anyone at UIC that might be interested please let them know and ask them to contact me. We still really need 1 or 2 people to really get this going. Thanks, bassdocktor/russ

jig molds
Hey guys I've been thinking of starting to make my own jigheads. The only problem is that I really want to find a 3/16oz round jighead mold. The problem I'm having is that the only 3/16 that I've found is for 1/0 hooks The ones I buy usually have 3/0 hooks. I was wondering if anyone has one and where you got it or if there are any other companies beside Do It. Thanks, bassdocktor

AAAAGH!!!
Sligtly different since it was my elbow but I was in a cast four years ago. It was right at the end of fishing season. So for the last tournament I just used a spinning reel and casted left handed. I actually managed to land a few and 1 keeper. You may still be able to reel with that wrist although kinda stiffly if you want to get out now. The baseball thing is kinda tough. Mine happend 2 months before our band trip to the Rose Bowl Parade and I was a drummer. Luckily I healed but you never know talk to the coach. good luck, bassdocktor

Garage's
Good chance it actually might. I recently bought an 18'6 bassboat and that fits. I live in the city so I don't have a very big garage. The two things I would do are call a dealer and find out the actual length of the boat on the trailer. Make sure they include the engine in that measurement because often that is left out. Also you can get the swing away tongue to save a few feet. bassdocktor

need help starting
I've usually seen a hp minimum for safety reasons. A few of the cooling lakes I know of here in Illinois atleast used to have them. The main reason was if the wind started to really blow they could get waves up to around 5-6ft. So they felt it was for the peoples safety. I would guess it's because of safety. bassdocktor

hitch cover
I just saw the same thing last weekend. I was at an outdoors show and they had them. I'm not sure what it did but they also had a deer. If you can't find it try the outdoors shows. bassdocktor

Anyone have any pet bass?
I had some floating ciclid pellets that I fed mine when I couldn't get live food. While I was feeding it those it did continue to grow. It also depends on the size bass you are talking about. However it did seem to grow slightly slower when it only got pellets but it still was very healthy. Again it really depends upon the size of the bass. bassdocktor

Anyone have any pet bass?
I had a bass that I kep with one or 2 ciclids until it died. Unfortunately he didn't last that long. It sure was funny to watch it eat because it would eat pretty much any goldfish I put in there and when it was done several tail would stick out of its mouth. Currently I do have a black bullhead. I was fishing with a friend and we noticed a ball of them right by the shore. We caught three about an inch big and now only one has survived. After finnally finding the right food it's about 5.5" long. Seems like it grow evertime I go to feed it. Even though it's only 5.5" that fish is pretty fat. bassdocktor

Guys with docks
Thanks Glenn that makes alot more sense. Those ideas you listed are a great way for everyone to avoid unnecessary conflicts with the land owners. bassdocktor

Guys with docks
When I've been fishing most people aren't really worried about their docks. Once you get close to their boats if they are around you do see them get a little tense. So far no one has made an issue of this. The problems I have come across are people with beaches. I've had several not ask but tell me to move along. They said people leave hooks in the water and that they have small grandchildren. I understand they want to keep them safe but there was nothing around that could have caused someone to loose a hook. Rather than argue I've just moved on. bassdocktor

Going to see KVD and Brent Chapman
I've seen KVD quite a few times and he's always informative. I've actually seen him give the same seminar twice, but the second time was just as helpful because I missed alot the first time. He tries to spend alot of time answering questions. A couple times that I've seen him they've had to almost pull him away so the next seminar could go on even though it was at his brother's store. bassdocktor

Forgetting to put in the plug?
Like J. Bricker said I just do it when I remove the transom saver. Should I ever forget I'll be taking a swim. On a 05 Triton 186 it's burried underneath. bassdocktor

just wondering
There was also another option if you wanted to fish the dropshot. They allowed it if a special leader was first tied to attach the hook to the line. I'm pretty sure that was the way. That was the way people were told to fish the dropshot in Michigan. bassdocktor

compare these Lowrance units with anything--help!!
I also have the 332c and I agree with everything said so far. It is setup so everything can be found easily. However there is one thing I must strongly disagree with. Although it may have been true in the past if one thing goes the entire unit doesn't. My 332 was installed new when we bought the boat in the spring. As we later found out the gps head unit was bad from the beginning. The fish finder still worked flawlessly, but the gps features didn't. So atleast with if the gps goes out the rest of the unit very well might still work. Or this may have been an isolated case as I understand the feeling of one thing goes then the rest follows. Once we got a new one put in there have been no problems. bassdocktor

Rod Locker
Another company that sells a lock bar is Osprey Products. if you want their website just send me a PM. bassdocktor

Rod Locker
Hey I'm not sure if this was offered by an after market company or boat maker but I saw a boat alarm system. Obviously not gonna keep people out like the bar but might help attract attention if someone tries. bassdocktor

Most "original" way to fish.
If you can get it to stay on the hook small pieces of cheese popcorn will catch bluegill. I went out after a tournament and had some left and saw bluegill all around. So I figured might aswell have some fun since the bass weren't biting. bassdocktor

Pitching and Flipping
Another way to atleast improve you flipping an pitching is to practice during the winter. Obviously you can't last aslong becuase your thumb will go numb but it actually helps. Because it's so cold out it forces you to become more accurate inorder to get back inside quicker. I did this last year and it did help me refine my pitching. One piece of advice if you try this. Don't stay out once your thumb gets numb becuase it become inpossible to feather or thumbs the spool. bassdocktor

Senko alternatives
I personally would go with the salty shimmy worm by either Terry's Tackle or Schubert's Lures. It should be listed as one of those names on the package. The company was sold and the name was then changed. It came out at the exact same time as the Senko but really never got the exposure as the Yamamoto but it does last longer. It even had the same action as the Senko. Being a little cheaper per pack it might be worth a sort for some of you. bassdocktor
