I'd suggest them to anyone. Wait till you get more responses byut there are alot of people that use them on here. bassdocktor
  2. That atleast would make sense I love the new energies that I bought for this year. Very smooth couldn't be happier.
  3. I have to ask. Why does doesn't anyone seem to be buyinng/asking about quantum. I have 6 of them and they are all great. I know there are a bunch of people on here with the accurist and the ones exclusive to DICKS. I just looked back through about the last 6 pages saw 1 post and finnally decided to find out why. bassdocktor
  4. Yeah it is a little hard leaving the people you have seen everyday for 4 or more years. I'm guessing you'll be living at school since it will be so far away so enjoy it. All of my friends that do enjoy it alot and have met alot of people in the dorms. The only wierd thing you'll have to get used to is depending on the size of the school you may not see some people after the semester ends if thye are in your classes. Hey you can always start a fishing club. Good Luck bassdocktor
  5. Hey guys this might help. It's a bunch of info that Mercury put out about ethanol in general and ethanol being used in their engines. I came across it last summer when doing a presentation. Hope it helps. http://northamerica.mercurymarine.com/serviceandwarranty/mercruiserfaqs/ethanol.php#6 bassdocktor
  6. First off I want to thank everyone for their replies. Second I thought I'd post an update. Only took about 4-5 hours of talking to almost everyone at the store to get things straightened out. The Service manager was the only one that was actually helpful. Brakes weren't shot just frozen from the -15 degree temps. I got them to fix everything and only paid $3.75 for a new spark plug. They said the carb was gummed up and again not blown out like they originally said. After thinking about what you guys all said would not have made sense. The sales manager was also telling us a bunch of lies. They also believe that I don't care about my atv since I didn't wash it even though as I said it was -15. Overall a bad experience. They also got really scared when we said we wanted the Honda rep to come even though they suggested it. Since it starts better now than it did ever before even in the cold I kinda think they weren't telling me something. In the future I'll be looking for a new dealership to get another one from. Thanks again. bassdocktor
  7. Hey I think you posted this before but you never responded to me. Can you give me some more info concerning where you guys meet and when? Thanks, bassdocktor
  8. There are enough people on here that use Quantum but very few have really said anything. I've got 3 quantums and just added three more. However, this is addition to my old Curados. I really haven't found anything I like yet by Shimano since they discontinued the green Curado that I want to spend the money on. The Quantum Energies are keep looking better and better. bassdocktor
  9. I use it on my flipping stick quite often. Haven't had a problem with it. Several of the guys I fish with do too.
  10. Gotta love those rudiments. Hey hows the drumming coming along Muddy? We haven't talked about that in quite awhile.
  11. I've played drums for over 10 years. Got to go to college bowl games and some other places with the high school band. Unfortunately I can't fit college band into my class schedule.
  12. Catt as far as the carb buring and blowing out thats what they said to me. Maybe part of the problem is that it wasn't the service guys that were explaining it to me. He was having a hard time trying to give me a description. Again that was his description. The entire thing seems really weird. They originally told me keep the choke out until it will run with out me having to give it gas. Thats what I've been doing. Honestly, it has taken up to 10 mins to get it to a point where it will run long enough (just idleing) to ride it and that was when the temp was still above 40. Mabybe I should have clarified with the spark plug. They said it was completely burnt and they seemed to make it seem like it was even worse than burnt. My best description was destroyed. Getting back to the lawn equipment. I guess I should clarify that too. It isn't all the time, that was an overstatement. Alot of times in the fall when I'm working for people it is cold and it will be on for several minutes. I'm always conscious of it because with all of that equipment I know when to switch it off, I can hear and feel it by the performance of my equipment. Hopefully this all make more sense.
  13. Well a few things in response. Muddy I should have figured something like that might come from you. I can understand the float getting stuck alot more than it being burt out as they were saying. I'm lookking into the warranty with this because especially since it is only 2 month old. LBH and Catt I completely agree about learning to do it myself except since it is still brand new I wanted to see what they would do for me. Especially since I wanted to get it back as soon as possible with school and work I would wouldn't be able to do anything with it for a few weeks. Also LBH I don't drive it with the choke open. I'll keep you guys updated as I figure out whats gonna happen. bassdocktor
  14. Yeah I kinda figured something might be up. Especially the brakes. They claim it was because sand got in there and wore them down. If that were true wouldn't people who live near or on unpaved/dirt roads always be replacing their breaks like every 4 month? Thanks, bassdocktor
  15. Ok I figiure with everyone on here there has to be someone who know alot about engines especially small ones. I also have to figure someone has had a similar problem. I bought a new 250 Honda ATV 2 months ago and it has 5 hours on it. I've been having alot of problems with starting it lately. Got sick of it the other day and took it in because it has basically become a lawn ornement. Not cool especially with all of the snow lately. Well my Honda dealer said my carb is all brunt and basically blown out and the spark plug is destroyed. They are saying it is because gas might have frozen in the carb. Their main reason is that the choke was left on for too long and it will cause the inside to burn and possibly gum up. It seems really weird especially since the choke gets left on my all my lawn equipment and I have had absolutely no problems. I was just wondering what you guys think especially since it only has 5 hours on it and now they are saying it will cost $150 to fix. I may not know alot of small engines but this thing seems kinda crazy. Thanks in advance and I await your answers. And best yet I took it in the mud for like 30 mins at the most and they said my brakes are basically shot. Keep in mind it was bought brand new. Bassdocktor
  16. I'll have to try one of my other colors over the next few days and see if I can give you any info. Unfortunately, with the snow I'm not sure I'll really get to try anything other than my black. Oakley should have a color that would be pretty good. I do believe that they list when it is good to use each lens color. Like I posted before the black has been really good basically anytime I would want to use them. Which frame style are you looking at? bassdocktor
  17. I also have the half jackets. The black iridium are nice. I used to have a pair of nice solar bats until they broke. The black is not as good on overcast days as a color like the Solar Bat amber. I do have another color I can throw in but generally the black are just fine. If you should be looking at the halfjackets I would advise on getting the xlj's because otherwise the lens on the halfjackets are kinda small. The black is nice overall and they look really good too. bassdocktor
  18. Actually if you wind up going into something like fisheries sciences you'll be taking some statistics classes. For a while thats the way I was gonna go till they cut all the state funding for fishery biologists, so I looked into alot of the classes.
  19. Monday I was seeing -9 at about 7 in the morning and the windchill was supposed to be around -30 in Chicago. All i know its that it is about 0 now so it's marginally better.
  20. Hey if you can find the Quantum Energy 650PT its a very nice choice. You can find a used one all the time on Ebay for usually under 100 and when you do find a new one it seems to still be at the original price of like 160 which seems steep for a reel they don't make anymore. I've been using it for the last year or so and haven't been disappointed. bassdocktor
  21. Well one thing that has to be kept in mind that Schultz says in the beginning that he isn't a fan of tournaments. While yes he does come off negatively he does give you an idea why right at the beginning. He comes right out and says how he views it all. I think we need to remeber when reading the book it was written by someone who doesn't seem to "understand" professional bass fishing. bassdocktor
  22. The BPS rod is very nice and as you said the price is good. I've used my 7' for 2 years now with no problems. I really like the feel of it and will be buying another before the season starts.
  23. I don't know JT you might be on to something. I was thinking about doing the same thing before the snow tomorrow here in Chicago. bassdocktor
