  1. I think he means bowfin or dog fish.
  2. Wow looks like an awesome weekend with some great pictures. Too bad about that sunburn.
  3. Here are 2 links to recent posts that talk about what hook to use. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180707792 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180584217 bassdocktor
  4. I'm not sure about the weighted hooks, but if you just peg a bullet weight or use a split shot right right above the hook the worm will fall staight down. However, if you place the weight infront of the rig by a foot or more as was suggested you'll notice that it will be pulled slightly forward. It's a great thing to experiment with to see which works better for you. When fishing where you can get hung up I prefer to use it right infront of the weight not ahead of it. bassdocktor
  5. Wow thats cool that you can see that.

  7. I have 2 of the 7' rods and they are great. I'm very happy with them. If you look back through past posts there are alot of members on here that are also. bassdocktor
  8. Muddy brings up a great point the Mods and Glenn really keep the place in line. When there are problems they always take care of them as soon as possible, and it always seems like one of them is on here. Occasionally, I log in at some weird times and someone is always here. They truly do a great job and watch over this place to keep it from turning into the places that many people have left. Also like he said the members alot of times really step up and keep an eye out as well.
  9. Thats great, it's getting sent to my mom and some of her fellow teachers.
  10. Ceph, it seems to go that way every know and then. Over the last 2 years I haven't always been able to post alot because of school but I always try to read posts and see what is going on. From what I see there are a lot of people that come and go. A few of the ones that people see as disrespectful make alot of posts in the beginning and then just disappear. On the flip side you'll never see a post about the new people that come and don't cause problems. You eventually just see more posts by them and references to their posts. bassdocktor
  11. Yeah I'd give it a try. I fish with a guy in Southern Michigan and he sometimes uses a snake type lure with good results.
  12. Bassboy1 you mentioned people seeing you working for others and being interested. I have found that is one of the best things you can do, let other people see you working. I've got a small landscaping business and that is how I get most of my people is they see me working for someone else. In fact that's how I picked up an extra job today. See if you can make some kind of flyer and then look to see if you church or churches near you have a seniors group. Any type of community center is another great source for finding a seniors group. Thats how I got started. From my contacts I can basically work all year long. Remember, senior citizens talk to each other alot and can help you business grow. Good luck. bassdocktor
  13. Thats a awesome story to go with an awesome fish.
  14. Glad to hear the gum thing worked because ours seem to be coming back. I'm gonna have to give that method a try.
  15. Surfer, Unfortunately I have no idea what you should do with unused bait. It's something I have never been able to figure out. I haven't really thought about it either since I don't remember the last time I used any thing that could be released. It's just one of the things that I constantly read when I flip through one of those books that the DNR puts out or that is released when some new virus is spreading. Sorry, bassdocktor

cpvenom thanks for saying you saw it on youtube. I was gonna check there later but now I know its on there. Thanks.
  17. Surfer, if by unuesed shiners you mean ones that you went and bought but didn't use that it is a bad idea. Most places actually tell you not to release unused bait. Its one of the many ways that problems get transfered to different lakes. I'm not sure but transporting fish to different lake may be illegal too. Some one correct that statement if it is wrong. Just trying to keep both you and your lake out of trouble. bassdocktor
  18. I've used the weedless hooks for quite awhile. I've been using the on a buch of different baits. Whta I have found is that only small fish things that could probable be eaten by your lure if it were alive (6") are the ones that you miss. Actually it is a nice way to judge size. Once in a while something like 12" won't get past the guard but that was because the bass only had the tail any way, so a regular hook wouldn't have helped. Maybe I missed one fish over 14 because of the weed guard. A suggestion I can make that I discovered yesterday. If you are still worried about the weed guard bend it. Bend it so that it sits on top of the point not under it. Was still weedless but picked up the occasional weed. 1 out of 10 cast in heavy sticky weeds, not bad at all. Since I just started doing it this way I can't really tell you if the guard interfers at all. bassdocktor
  19. Hey I'm guessing you are talking about the Tiki Snake. Check out the link to a previous thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1179500728/3#3 bassdocktor
  20. One thing no one mentioned which you need to consider. Weight. I'm not an expert either but look at where and how you have your gear set up in the boat that can make a difference. I took my boat out alone last week and the missing partner made a huge difference. There are more guys on here that can definitely help you with where the weight should be. Something to consider, my partner this year has a Triton 185 with a Merc 150XR6. He has a hydrofoil and swears by it. He said that with his worked over 4 blade, jackplate, and something he had to have done to the engine the boat flys and it does. He also carries alot of extra weight with over 200lbs in just plastics. I have a Triton 186 some same length same motor except newer, no jackplate or hydrofoil, and only a 3 blade probably less weight. Those are alot of differences between the 2 boats but his is quicker and gets on plane faster. Good luck, bassdocktor

That's awesome. I was wondering what happend to him after he left wrestling. I'll have to keep and eye out for him, thanks. bassdocktor
  22. The noise aspect is especially true if you use a glass bead and brass weight, the glass and brass. Make sure you fish it unpegged.
  23. Thats a nice lookin fish.
  24. I'm pretty sure places like Barlows let you order bulk hooks
