  1. Well I went last night to check out the pond for the first time. In the last 3 months no fishing and trespassing signs were posted. We were also unable to even see the ponds because I believe they are on the section of land that is owned but unused. This area was seriously overgrown with wild grass and weeds. We decided that it would be best not fish there and avoid any complications, especially since as I said earlier many of the highschool kids go to that cemetary to drink. We figured the police might be coming by since it was a Friday night so we just went somewhere else. Too bad I heard there were supposed to be decent fish there.
  2. I was wondering if any of you have heard of this before. I just recently leared that the cemetary by my former high school has two ponds that are open for fishing. I was wondering if anyone else has fished any of these before. Thought that it might be kinda different. I plan on going out and giving it a try, just have to make sure I go when no kids are drinking so I don't get hasseld by the cops. bassdocktor
  3. I've been having problems with them aswell. We bought a new boat this year and had a 332c put on the dash and the x51 on the bow. After using the boat 2 times the gps system could no longer lock onto to our position. We called customer service and waited quite a while until we finally talked to someone. He was helpful but unfortunately the gps receiver had to be replaced. This was done on the spot at the dealer. Next we were caught in the rain. A few days later my dad woke up in the middle of the night and happened to look out in the garage and saw what looked like a strobe light. The unit was flashing on and off. As several people suggested we tried several ways of drying it out, none worked. We took it to the dealer who sent it out to Lowrance for us. We then waited three weeks for its return. we went back to the dealer for them to reinstall it only for them to find out the head unit on the gps was blown. Lowrance sent back a broken unit. The dealer then decided to simply put in a new unit for us. They too called Lowrance and were put on hold for a long time. However, I will say that D and R Sports in Michigan was extremely helpful with all of our problems.
  4. Another great brand to try are Rite Bite tubes made by Terry's Tackle who bought Schubert's Lure's. Although they may be harder to find they hold up extremely well, have alot of salt, and a special scent put in them.
  5. Cabelas used to put out a fly fishing catalog that had a bunch of bass flies in it. So, I believe that they also sell them through the internet.
  6. I have a nice pair of the Solar Bats, but unfortunately they discontinued my model. They are part of an interchangable lens system. They are very nice, except you need to be careful with them because certain lens may feel loose. In reality they are not at all loose.
  7. While I don't have an injection system, I do have what I believe is called the pro max air which came with my Triton. This particular recirculation system uses the water that is already in the live well and mixes it with air that is sucked in just behind the driver's seat. If you put your finger over the little hole that the air goes into you can actually feel the suction. This sysytem has kept my fish very healthy in during several 90+ tournament days.
  8. I've noticed the same thing. I've tried alot of different things myself except not much has worked. The only way I've been able to get fish to bite has been if I flip a tube into or near the fry clounds. The few times I've tried throwing a crank at them I also have had no luck. Personally I wondered if the fish that are by them are looking for a more opportunistic meal. My other thought has been they don't see the fast moving baits a threat if they are still in a protecting mode. That would explain why slow or more eratic things like tubes and senkos are working. bassdocktor
  9. Hey I was wondering if anyone else has this unit and experienced problems with it. We just bought a new Trition TR186 in May with the 332c put on it. After 2 trips the GPS receiver went bad. The dealer had to replace the white antenna. Now it got water in it from us getting caught in the rain. Shorted something out because it will randomly turn on and make the garage look like it has a strobe light in it. That had to be sent back to Lowrance. We tried drying it out by keeping it on and we were fishing when it was 90+ for several hours. Thanks, bassdocktor
  10. I'm not sure but you might have just read it wrong. Usually they say that the lighter more natural colors like the grays, whites and silvers are good in clearer water or lighter water. This is because it is said that the fish have a better chance to see the lures, which is also why you may hear some people say to reel in the bait faster. Generally, they also say the darker colors are better in darker water because of the profile they make. The larger bait or darker color provides more of a profile that the fish can see. However, it still is possible to catch fish with either color. One of the best things you can try to do is get a look at what the fish are eating in a particular lake if you are still confused. Hope this helps. bassdocktor
  11. Around a dock try flipping and pitching things like tubes or try skipping baits under them. If they are floting ones where you can't really get under them just fish the sides and front. If you are accurate enough make sure you hit the spaces between the floats of the dock. Don't forget to fish around and under pontoon boats. bassdocktor
  12. Yeah I'm about half way done with it and it's pretty good right now.
  13. They do make them in that range. Actually they even make them up to atleast 50hp. Up until this last year we had a 14' Lowe with a a 25hp Johnson that according to the fishfinder would go maybe 25mph. I think the engine was a 2000 or 2001. It was an electric start that ran great.
  14. Hey thanks alot guys. I've been out on the boat a few times and tried all of your advice. I think I've almost found the right spot. When it's trimmed too high it sure does bounce up and down. Thanks for the advice.
  15. I agree. I try to keep the hooks clean which can be tough while fishing in that type of grass. Sometimes I find that casting just a bit harder can get rid of some of the weeds.
  16. Just go to bassmaster.com and they have a spot where you can register online. If you don't want to do that find someone who has the magazine and get a registration card from the magazine. If you can't find someone with that try going to Borders they carry BASSMASTER by me and you can get the card from that.
  17. If you keep switching baits you really can't wory about missing a bite. Otherwise if you worry too much and never switch you won't find out what's working.
  18. Yeah it seems one of the only ways you can buy a new boat is if you first sell an old one. Otherwise how can you pay $40000 over 5 years. Seems kinda hard if you have a family or if you are going to be starting college like I am.
  19. Hey I'm interested but I can't find your link.
  20. Hey thanks that does help. Gives me a better idea for my next trip. It kinda sounds like the cal-sag by me. Yeah that's right George Perry's record came from the oxbow in Georgia
  21. Hey I'm from Chicago and want to fish the river systems that are available to me not far from home. Yes, fish actcually can live in there now despite any past stories you have heard. I was wondering what kind of strategies you guys use when fishing an industrial river system. Lakes aren't too much of problem, but I'm new to rivers in general so any help would be appreciated. Thanks bassdocktor
  22. While many people may not like him, it is a book that's easy to read and pretty entertaining. While yes there may not be much devoted to technique, if you are really going through the book there is alot about the mental aspect of fishing the pro tour. It's a quick read that may help you understand some of his on the water reactions. bassdocktor
  23. I just bought a Tr 186 and had some problems with getting it in my garage. The few things i found are trim the engine down, turn the engine to one side, and put the boat on a small angle. Hope this helps.
  24. I just bought a new Triton TR186 with a Merc 150 XR6 about 2 weeks ago. My dad and I have taken it out few times since buying it. Unfortunately neither he nor I have ever really been around a boats with power trim. They were usually all tiller models or if they weren't they were friend's ocean boats. Although I've learned alot through on the water experience in the last two weeks I was hoping someone could give me a better idea how far to trim the engine up once the boat is on plane. Thanks Russ
  25. I recently bought a new boat and had the lms 332c put on it. The boat is about 2 weeks old now and over the weekend the gps receiver went out. Other than when I'm fish it was garage kept. I called the 1-800 # and tried everything they said. After that we took it to the dealer and they just put in a new receiver. Works good for now, hope it won't be a problem in the future.
