  1. get the "tall boy" - more line capacity, greater euphoric effect
  2. If you standardize them, then new innovations would be hard to release. Then they would be "non standard," and we'd be back to where we are now. Those little differences are sometimes what makes the hook better. I do realize what a pain this is for mold makers. Trust me I do, LOL.....
  3. You overpaid for the can of Coke
  4. Fair enough, but this isn't Rare Motorcycle Parts Resource I think that's a different situation, than scoring a cheap reel or box of baits.
  5. I don't think anything short of glue would work, and even then, they'll get torn after a while. I used them for rentals, and you'll replace every season or so.
  6. Everyone will know who's using them on the water.
  7. It isn't a bid until the offer is placed. With a sniping service, the bid is made with seconds to go. If you put in your max bid in early and someone bids, they will be immediately outbid and some will start to get competitive, and keep pushing towards your max bid. That is the opposite of what you want. Smart buyers aren't about winning, they are about price. That's the part some of you are missing. Yeah sure, some items are going to be bid on. A BNIB Steez that opens at $.99 isn't going for $40. But, if you find a few used reels, you might be able to get one of those three at $250. There's deals in there. You have to tune into a certain type of auction. They aren't your typical pro ebayer with 20,000 positives. Look for average joes moving stuff.
  8. Best advice!
  9. The Citica is head and shoulders above that plastic crap being hyped above.
  10. Sniping is better for when you want to name your price, and not get into competitive bidding. Some bidders will intentionally bid you up on a an item. You also have to watch out for shill bids. Also, frequent bidding draws even more outside attention to the item, thereby attracting bids, which raises the price. Both are things you want to avoid. I never "watch" an item or "proxy bid/auto bid." I personally use Auction Sniper. I look for a few listings of the same item, pick a price, and finally set it and forget it. Yes, you will lose auctions. But the ones you win will be ridiculous bargains. A few of my successes: BNIB Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens, $160. Used Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 $210. BNIB Daiwa Sol baitcaster, $84 - this was when they were relatively new. EC used TD-X103HSDL x2, $30 a piece. BNIB Daiwa Zillion, $180. Remember, the more bids that are placed, even automatic bids, the higher the price will be. It makes NO SENSE AT ALL to "bid early and bid often" unless you are the seller.
  11. I'll pass it along to Ronnie. He's a friend of mine, and is METICULOUS about his gear. Also a brilliant jig fisherman.
  12. Shore fishing with about $1200 worth of tackle, LOL. Pretty cool bait. I'd pay $20 for it.
  13. I think they changed their guides a few years back to Batsons. Rod manufacturers aren't static with their models, and make small changes year to year. Your best bet is to buy two newer rods. The greater number of lighter guides is an improvement.
  14. Good morning, I moved this and another post to the "Southeast" forum in hopes of garnering some responses. As far as the fishing goes, it's tough all over - they don't call it the dog days for nothing.
  15. That isn't a picture by their marketing/ad division, *** takes it's own pictures. I bet you can over tighten the hood without a reel, and spin it 180*.
  16. Thanks for the heads up Rooster. Probably cos 1/2 of BR clicked, LOL. Here's the direct link to the YouTube video, though you'll miss the the background of the knot:
  17. You have to be a pro to use Pro Senkos. In a general sense, picking the right soft plastic for the job is something you really have to figure out yourself. People could give you ten thousand answers here, and 1/2 would be right, according to the results your next trip out.
  18. I use a 13' UL for trout most times. If it's a tight little ditch, then I go to a 10' rod. I would never go trout fishing with anything less than 8', especially if you are going with light line. A longer rod, and slower action will protect light line better.
  19. Pipe insulators, in the 1st 5 minutes or so: http://www.lunkerville.com/lunkerville1/jighead1.html
  20. I haven't had any problems working on "cars of today." Regular maintenance is still possible.
  21. TimHo sucks. The only thing they got worth eating there is the strawberry filled muffins.
  22. Tim Horton's not = Dunks.
  23. I think it's hilarious that we can look at a picture, and see that one "identifying feature," like a weird tree, cell phone tower, or bluff, and recognize the spot.
  24. You did WAYYYY better than we did on Erie, Saturday. We had fish, but not nearly that quality! Congrats!
  25. Here you go guys: http://fishgator.com/fishing-kayak-reviews/how-to-tie-the-fishgator-knot/ This is a knot my friend Paul developed over the last two years. He's added several king salmon, approaching 40 lbs to the list of fish caught on this knot. I'm starting to use it now. Super easy.
