  1. LOL, I hope you gave that googly a spin.
  2. Ya con't get thare fromm hare!
  3. Yeah, the spoon doesn't work so well in weeds. It's a rocky bottom presentation. Some good looking fish, though.
  4. I bet you do some sweet jumps with that.
  5. No dice at Webster. I couldn't get out for the rest of the evening to check the other locations.
  6. When you catch a big fish, or set the hook into a snag, then you know what it means when the line "cuts in" or "digs in." It has nothing to do with cover, and everything to do with line diameter. And I wasn't aware they made 17 lb. Power Pro? Are you sure you're not using 17 lb. diameter equivalent? Because that would be 80 lb. break strength.
  7. Gander in Henrietta is lame. I thought it was a Gander thing, but when I went to the Gander in Cicero.....oh man, look at what I was missing, LOL. That place had everything!
  8. A lot is in the rod, but then you have to have a light spool, since performance depends on inertia at start up. You can generate inertia with rod length. I used a tuned up TD-A Black Widow loaded with 8# mono to throw light float rigs for trout on an 11 UL/slow action rod. This worked great. I could pitch a 6' float rig 40 feet or so, which is plenty for that kind of fishing. Now, 11' is pretty long for bassin', but 8' isn't, and think that would be what you want. More rod to protect light line, and suppress head shaking that you can't control with a light power rod. For perspective, I catch 10-20 trout on UL gear and light line. Steelhead near rocks and trees, in current are pretty similar to bass in cover, just takes longer to get the trout in.
  9. Sensitive enough. I've caught six fish over 6 with it. Now, if you're talking multi-purpose, that would be a different question, not what the OP asked. Anytime you combine, you might be making a compromise. I still say, someone design a rod, with a comfortable handle, that can hold a bit of line - fixed, locked in - and not require a reel. A specific punching rod. That would be awesome. My buddy had that rod. Really nice, not as heavy powered as my Deep South, but plenty heavy, and sensitive enough to use for other techniques.
  10. What does a Zillion Type-R offer you that something else wouldn't? Seriously, a $400 reel for a skill where you won't even be reeling in, LOL. OK, for the six feet of line, that 32 IPT is going to make all the difference. A Citica with some Carbontex has more stopping power, and weighs an ounce less. Better to impress with your catch than your gear. Now, for rods....Ehh, it only needs to me sensitive enough. My main criteria is a moderate to mod. fast action, to spread the setrss across the whole blank. And, yeah, it's got to be XXXH, like my Deep South flipping stick.
  11. It's in the directions and on their FAQ: http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/FAQ.html
  12. 32 cases in ten years. I think you're probably fine.
  13. Sorry guys, this isn't the place for this.
  14. With the right rod, in the right hands, sure. I couldn't say exactly how far, but I've built up a few reels did fine - they cast as far as you'd need. Go up to 1/8 or 3/16 oz, and now you're really cooking. I wouldn't go much lighter, spool start up becomes too difficult. A float and fly will be plenty heavy enough.
  15. Not out of the box, unless you want to ruin a very expensive reel. Needs several upgrades in order to be "bass ready." Same for the original Pixies. These were meant for fishing small streams for little trout.
  16. Daiwa Sol or Alphas. If budget is no issue, then the PX Type-R is made for this.
  17. I like to use glass beads on a t-rig, especially a ribbon tail worm. Something about the way I work them that seems to work well with beads. With crawfish baits, I'm usually just dropping them, a couple hops, and next hole. I don't seem to need a rattle or clicking to get bit. Sounds backwards, I know, but that's just what I do.
  18. I might have to check that out.....payday was today, LOL.
  19. That's silly. I realize that pro anglers' names are a "brand," but c'mon.
  20. Why doesn't some rod maker build a punching specific rod, where a reel is unnecessary? Just something to tie your braid to, and a really comfortable grip. That would be really cool.

I think he means coiled solder.
  24. She needs to get a pump, then you can run it in shifts. Not perfect, but each at least can usually get 4 hours or so.
