  1. I grew up with Eric, the owner of this company. A really good guy to deal with, plus lifetime warranty on his stuff: http://www.wildwaterflyfishing.com/
  2. It was pushing 60° around lunchtime today. Gonna be cold tomorrow, though.
  3. This is a second sub, just discovered Sunday, 2/13. There was another last July.
  4. The "screwdriver trick" is a freaking mess. Avoid it all costs, LOL.
  5. Big muskies are a treasure. These are the same guys that gripe about all the axe handles. True muskie anglers put trophies back.
  6. Shame it left the lake on a rope.
  7. Personally, I'd mount it where you're least likely to smash it on a dock or ramp when its in the stowed position.
  8. LOL, me niether. Sounds insane enough to work really well.
  9. Pick up a selection of mayflies to throw in April. That's should keep you occupied until the bass move up.
  10. What river? I seriously doubt anyone will be on the ice this weekend. If they are, they are nuts. Remember, ice melts off 1st near shore.
  11. Some of that sounds like soft core porn. ;D
  12. That was resolved, and IIRC it involved reel seats on fly rods.
  13. For at least 15 years, I used XL on spinning gear. It seemed softer, and more suited for spinning. The XT worked well in heavier sizes on casting gear. I now use different lines, but Trilene is what I pretty much compare everything else to. You can do better, but you can't really go wrong with it.
  14. You need to start reading and learning about seasonal muskie patterns. Their movements are different than bass. Once you know that, you should have a reasonably good idea of where to start. Considering that muskie are the king of freshwater gamefish, there's quite a bit of info out there, and way more than a single forum post can cover.
  15. 318 acres shouldn't be too hard to cover and find fish.
  16. Hopkins Shorty Spoons. :-X
  17. And I thought the original question was about fluoro....
  18. Most camping is for two dayers.
  19. You use that knot with fluoro?
  20. Exactly, once you have YOUR knots down pat, that you know will hold just by the way they cinched down, the way they look and feel, stick with them. Getting there takes practice. I actually haven't seen any advice here I'd ignore, but I do have knots that failed for me. Practice tying, figure out what works. My avatar was caught on 6# fluoro, using a Palomar. Fluoro will separate the men from the boys when it comes to knot tying. Braid, eh not so much. As long as it doesn't slip or come through the eye, its probably fine.
  21. I love camping for tourneys. Keep it simple, though. Practice setup and pack up before you try it.
  22. While I can see what you're saying, and normally I would agree, my 2 year old 200e7 has less slop in the handle than that 50e. Of the reels in its price range, only the Ardents felt worse. Heck, even the $99 W&M Skeet Reese reel felt smoother and more "solid". I don't care how much abuse it has seen, that's just sad. Someone probably broke it then. Your description doesn't even come close to what I've experienced. Granted, I've only wroked with a half dozen of them since they came out. They are a nicer reel than the 200 series, to me.
  23. If it was a demo model out on display.....that probably isn't the best example to base your opinion. Just about all the display reels at Bass Pro are whipped. Its painful to see that Calcutta 50 GT be beat to death by people that couldn't even cast one if they tried, LOL.
  24. "Start" your steelhead season? You're missing out, sticking those little perch and blue gills all winter long.....
