  1. You are looking for a hull with a reverse chine. The reverse chine diverts the spray, but isn't fool proof. I'd put up with the spray from the Lund, though. That boat will last a lifetime.
  2. You could call Daiwa, and order Part# W31-7101, but I'd say it would be easier to just get a new reel. Go for the Goldcast if you must have a spincast, it'll last you. Daiwa: 1-562-802-9589 BTW, you can find any schematic you want for Daiwa on their website
  3. great minds reply at the same time.... ....they don't work on a jig either.
  4. Just burn it back and cast it out again. Sometimes it takes a few casts to the same spot to draw a strike. If I don't have a follow up bait for a miss, like a Fat Ika or Senko, then I will let the frog sink for a second or two, then twitch it. About 25% of the time, this draws a strike after a miss. But don't spend too much time following up on misses, keep that toad burning.
  5. Not likely on a 6 or 7. tell me, how you hold a 7 lb. bass while removing the hook?
  6. Some "shallow water fish" (<12" of water) from various times of the year. Spring Spring Fall Summer If they are feeding shallow, they are easy to spot. If they are lurking shallow, its not so easy.
  7. I fished from a 16' Sea Nymph tiller for years. it only needed about a foot of water when fishing, and maybe two feet to fire up the big motor. Started with a 20hp, but upgraded to a 50. Great boat, and since I fished lake Ontario, a safe boat for the big water. Here's me with a huge sheephead and that boat:
  8. Right now? Lucky Craft Slim Shad. It seems to run at the depth that fish are, and has the right wiggle.
  9. I'd rather my builder know how to spell Fuji correctly.
  10. You are going to want to do a domain search to eliminate the ones that are taken and lock in the ones that aren't before picking a fave.
  11. This is way more important than the weight. Congrats, and keep working at it.
  12. This article would be on my list of required reading before asking any jig questions: http://www.***/articles/jig-fishing.shtml. Jig fishing is just too broad a topic.
  13. Look at it, man! How could a bass resist it? Griz Broom:
  14. Looks like a Skinny Bear jig....those don't work either, LOL. Get a couple in black, black and blue, and brown pumpkin chart. While you're at it, get some big ole mopheads too.
  15. Catchy, but has a negative connotation. how about Cast for Hope, or something like that....
  16. Actually no, you aren't allowed to do that here. Grow up or go away.
  17. You find that spot with time on the water.
  18. On larger lakes, "spots" has nothing to do with it. If you can read water and structure, then finding spots is not that difficult. Your "secret spot" is probably known by dozens of other anglers and on a few hotspot maps, LOL. Techniques are far more helpful. I share techniques all the time. Now, if you are talking about a small pond, or little known shore spot, then no freaking way. People will come, trash the place, and likely decimate the spot. When I share a shore spot like that with someone, its a privilege, and I feel the same when someone shares it with me. I generally won't fish that spot, unless I am with the person that showed it to me. I definitely do not share it with others.
  19. For as much as I like thier CXX, this line was an absolute and utter disappointment. Try something else, like Trilene 100% if you want straight fluoro, or YZ Hybrid for a fluoro coated line.
  20. 5 wt. flyrod or medium power spinning rod, frayed nylon rope on a split ring, color the head red, hang on tight.
  21. Otters are a great bed bait. I use 1 oz. pegged Tungsten, and 5/0 Owner SSW hook, snelled. This allows me to pitch to the bed, and clench the rod to make the bait quiver in place. Be prepared for the fish to pick up the paddles and move it. if that happens a couple times, I follow up with drop shot rigged kut tail worm. They are also great for hitting deep weed edges, standard sliding t-rig, just drop them on a free spool, pop a couple of times, hit the next hole. I use them as a change up to the beaver. Usually its one or the other that bass show a preference. Oh, and color....black and blue for that one.
  22. Otters don't work, LOL.
  23. I wouldn't use a sinking line like Fluoroclear to fish topwater. It may appear to sit at the surface, but its just below, making mending (straightening) the line difficult. Try heavy mono, or braid.
  24. Not my personal best, but my 2nd biggest, which would be my biggest in a long time. 5-0, drop shot 4" Power Worm. Mayhem: Reentry: In hand:
  25. You can flip or pitch with any rod...the cover dictates rod power. When I'm fishing heavy cover, I prefer a long rod, heavy or x-heavy power, and a moderate to moderate-fast bend. A fast tip is nice for long pitch casts, but most are too soft for hoisting bass out of cover.
