  1. I do this as well, though I mostly fish spoons. The larger single hook allows you to instinctively swing on them as well. Nice fish, 14" is a respectable stockie from your parts!
  2. I'd rather fish before the storms.
  3. USPS tracking is notoriously sketchy and/or slow to update. Have you called the retailer?
  4. The app says my sub expired in October 2018, and I've been using the app just fine. Maybe I'm not using all the features, but this serves my purposes fine.
  5. Bass I catch in spring and fall sure seem fatter than mid summer. Gotta love a livewell full of claws that don't count for cash, lol.
  6. Cuts all lines just fine. I have a couple pair, one must be more than a decade old.
  7. Just show up with a centrepin and bead rig, and catch all the fish from the hole in front of them.
  8. That's basically a pill a day box. Nice tip! I'll be doing something similar for my trout beads.
  9. For many, netting is SOP in a kayak.
  10. You want something like this: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Ark_No_Chip_Tungsten_No_Insert_Carolina_Weights_1pk/descpage-ATUNC.html Cylinder not egg shaped is the key.
  11. I’ve used anything from slow to high speed reels for twitch baits, and I never found it made much difference. I was always able to adjust to whatever was on the rod.
  12. The Plano edge box is a great solution. I’ve also used little ziploc bags my jigs come in, since they are easier or open and seal than original packaging.
  13. A Carolina rig may not be suited to the terrain. There’s some mods that Lake Erie fisherman use to combat the abrasion, but if it’s snaggy, that isn’t gong to help. You can look up those mods - it was detailed in In-Fisherman amongst other places. for this deal, a pegged Texas rig may hang up less. Diving cranks, ledge style spinnerbaits, maybe even a vertical drop shot presentation would hang up less
  14. I have that rod, too. A couple of them actually, and spinning lol. I sub is for when I want to throw jerkbaits, TW, light plastics, really anything under 1/2 oz, for when I'm in my kayak and apace is tight.
  15. Zebra mussels are the best. They’re free if you have them in your lakes.
  16. It sounds like the bail is slapping the tag end of the line in the keeper.
  17. Once the loon loonies get an audience with lawmakers, it’s all over but the crying for lead.
  18. Im guessing a two stage process would be costlier than tungsten.
  19. Yep. Only one of my ten or so spinning reels has braid. I don’t find it as useful for anything other than grass as many here do. Always use KVD.
  20. I don’t like the tiny ones either. Makes more sense to go with steel where the weight matches the diameter of the bait better.
  21. We can't buy lead in NY, so any that I have is sourced out of state. I use a mix of lead, tungsten, steel, brass, but mostly tungsten based on availability.
  22. The bait falls faster on a fixed spool than a rotating spool. There's plenty of casting reels that you can engage without reeling.
  23. I have one example, deep drop shot. While you're waiting for the bait to hit the bottom in 40'+ water, thumbing your spool, I'm setting the hook into a big smallie. It's more efficient to use spinning gear in this instance. Other than this situation, I can't think of when casting/spinning matters, and totally agree.
