  1. That's got to be a casting technique issue. There's no reason that similar rods would vary so much in distance.
  2. I have a another 16 years on my mortgage. Making enemies with my neighbors is not in the agenda. I have band rehearsal in my basement studio two to four times a week. No one has ever complained. Yes, they can hear it loud and clear, because I asked if they could. Still, no complaints.
  3. Here you go, Glenn. Just tried to like your post.
  4. There's a BIG difference being in imminent danger of being killed and getting butthurt because some idiot doesn't like fishing. I don't know why C&C is even brought up here. It's irrelevant, and if it isn't, then why haven't the police been called? The whole story sounds fishy to me.
  5. Your town should have noise ordinances based on zone. Usually noise curfew starts at 10 PM, and ends at 7 AM. Never mind that even within that, an insistent citizen can get a cop to charge you with disorderly conduct for just about anything. I've successfully fought several such when much younger, involving band rehearsals that were within reasonable hours (5-8 PM).
  6. I'd go with something like 12# CXX over the braid, never liked how braid worked in a spincaster.
  7. That's what I was thinking. St. Croix are a little heavier than their stated power, so also could be too light a bait. Could be a chipped guide, too. A Q-tip rubbed on each guide will reveal any hidden issues.
  8. You can also try flipping the one under the spool tension cap. That would be the easiest fix, while you wait for the new one to come in the mail. I think they're around $2.
  9. All braids are made with either Dyneema or Spectra.
  10. I like that Daiwa takes risks. On the other side of that hideous coin above, is Mag V/Z braking systems.
  11. Paints the returns wider, I think.
  12. Time for new spool shims. You can order them direct from Shimano, if you call support.
  13. If you feel threatened or harassed, call the police.
  14. Yes, illegal. I don't care what your excuse is for breaking the law, but ANY DISCUSSION OF ILLEGAL ACTIVITY IS FORBIDDEN HERE. Please read through the Forum Rules & FAQs if you need clarification.
  15. I have a sweet ch201e7 going up for same soon. Keep your eyes peeled if you're looking.
  16. A general comment about the dichotomy of posts that show up whenever there's a Shimano thread. I wasn't really impressed with the Chronarch CI4, at that price point, though I'm not sure I've ever seen a waterproof brake dial. Water's been getting into my Daiwas for 20 years, and it never caused a problem. As far banning…all you have to do is hit the log out button, if you hate it here so much. BTW, political posts are no Bueno here. Just a friendly reminder.
  17. The Pure Fishing clones and related Lew's have some of the nicest feeling thumbar spool release and engage in the biz. I work on reels - seriously, lots of them - and I know why they feel "nice" in this way. There's a cost to that. There's a coat to the tightness in a Daiwa, and the sweet feel of their brakes. Shimanos are very mechanical and precise, despite a tiny bit of spool slop. Pick your poison. Or try an Okuma, Pinnacle, or other brand for that matter. They have their own personality too. Spend some coin, and don't compare entry level stuff. It's a good time to buy reels.
  18. I actually took an original Citica back, probably around '91/92? Liked the Daiwa PS-5 (I think that's what it was, 5 bearing reel) better. Go figure. I like my E series reels. Might be putting some up for FM soon. Time to update!
  19. The ones whining and spewing vitriole the most about Shimano quality haven't touched one in over a decade. Any point points made, are irrelevant, and are hopefully dismissed by most readers. You have weed through forum posts. I'm not a Shimano guy, but most of the complaints or arguments against don't make much sense. Why? Because they don't even use them. It's actually funny to read the stuff.
  20. Bow to Stern (BTS).
  21. Any. They're all over engineered. you should be able to put 30-40# line on a 4000 series reel with no issue.
