  1. That doesn't always play out up here. Quality spawning grounds are at a premium on some lakes, and the beds pepper the grounds. It gets even worse when bass are done and the sunnies move in. Whole shorelines can be honeycombed. My guess is that more of our northern fish actually spawn. With a short growing season, it make sense.
  2. I've caught fish on black and blue jigs in all temps, and all colors of water.
  3. I'm barely prepared for leftovers.
  4. Been using the #6 for perch a few times...they work great.
  5. Same, wxcept I use a UNI instead of the clinch, and for the same reasons.
  6. Why 12/21/12? Why not today - 3/6/12?
  7. It's legal in NY waters. Not VT waters on Champlain or in Canadian waters.
  8. You know I'm in.

You'll like them. Got use mine in the casting pool at the dome this weekend. Preliminary advice: pour more 1/8 oz. ball heads.
  10. You can tie up Texas rigs with the knotable leaders - something you cannot do with premade leaders.
  11. I got a chance to play with the Owner Jig Rig while repping at a local sportsman's show, and this looks like a VERY good option for tubes.
  12. Welcome! Links to the cloud won't work. You'll have to cut and paste the text here, in a reply.
  13. Problem solving 101 - apply each lure's strengths to the situation at hand. The fluke is the most weedless. Spinnerbaits work really well if the wood is a fallen tree. For stumps, the square bill excels.

There are some very good reason to buy other brands. I just picked up a couple with the resin head from Picasso. It's light, works PERFECT with 1/8 oz. ballheads and 3-4" Keitech Swing Impacts. And it already has a swivel for a line tie to boot! The whole thing is less than 2 oz. FINESSE UMBRELLA! LOL.
  15. Shimano buyers aren't usually the type of kook that makes reviews on the BPS site, LOL.
  16. No, I think it was an inexpensive spinning reel, though. For the OP, if you are going strictly by MSRP, then a Citica G fits the bill. Otherwise, you can get a host of even better reels either on sale or used.
  17. For plastics, black, green, or brown.
  18. I can see it being an issue on the reefs. In the deep, dark world of the toothy critter, it's another story. I seldom recommend heavy fluoro anymore, since the tieable Cortland product works so well, and is easier to use.
  19. Two words when dealing with big leaders: metal crimps.
  20. 60 to 100# works for the 10-15 lb. class fish I catch. It MUST be saltwater leader material, though. It's quite a bit more expensive than the options listed above.
  21. Cortland Toothy Critter in 10-20# direct tie to hooks. Any 20# Titanium Leader for plugs.
  22. The reviews are either from brand fanboys or nutcases with no real relevance. I read them sometimes purely for entertainment value. One of my all time favorites was for some reel. It didn't come with line, so the reviewer gave it a one.
