Can somone please explain the differance in the shape of bait casting reels to me? I have never used a bait caster and have been wondering about this. What makes them differant other than physical shape. Here is couple of links showing two comparisons about what i mean. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_97963_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 and http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44657_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 BN
  6. What is your favorite jigs for small mouths? I have never fished a jig before and would like to learn with it and also tubes. I have always used inline spinners, jerkbaits, and grubs so its time to learn new tricks to improve my odds. Thanks for the tips. Also why do smallies not like rubber jigs as well as hair jigs? BN

  8. When you guys T-rig a craw do you peg the sinker or not? Thanks BN
  9. Just wondering how every one rigs soft plastic crawfish when using them? I put them on an 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig heads. What does everyone else do? I like using them for smallies so more tips would be appreciated. BN
  10. I am thinking of trying this line out this year so I have a question.. Should i get clear line or the green? And really what about it makes a differance to the fish? Thanks BN
  11. Not trying to hijack the thread but I too have been thinking about a baitcaster. Only problem is last time I had one <10 years ago> I could never figure out how to use the dang thing without it birdnesting every time. I had the tension set where it would slowly pull the line out with a lure on the end hanging down but just barley. I would do god on a cast but as soon as the lure hit the water line jsut kepot going out everywhere lol. If i stopped the line with my thumb then the lure would jerk back in a mean way so cast didnt got to far. Post some pointers for me, I can't find a bait casting for dummies book anywhere BN
  12. So many differant types of line out there it is confusing. Seems to me those super tough lines would be a pain to break off if you got a snag. As for myself I almost always use Stren clear blue. I have never had any problems with it at all. Not saying its the best because I have not used others but it works for me. Mike I know what you mean about the Elk River and how clear it can be. I have fished it some in Braxton county Below the Sutton Dam and further down stream. It has to be the clearest River in the state. BN
  13. You go fishing on your wifes due date with your first child. BN
  14. Thanks for the replies and advice I appreciate them. How do you guys rig the flukes? The New River start in North Carolina and goes through Virginia and into West Virginia. It meets the Gauley River to form the begining of the Kanawha <sp> river. That flows down to the Ohio River. BN
