  1. I've used the same abu/zebco cardinal 4 reel since about 1975- fourty years. I have had ZERO problems except for a very few line twists. I did buy a new rotor cup about. 1978/79 if I go out today that reel or it's twenty or so brothers(cardinal 3,4 or 6) is what I pick up first. I do like my stradic 2000's also.
  2. when and if you use reamers in a drill be SURE to know which direction you need to be turning reamers or you can sure turn the sanding tape off in split second. I bought a set of four reamers long ago now have five- one to replace the one I turned tape off - in split second! great tool for rodbuilding. used rattail files long ago- they worked, but reamers are so much more efficient- much better results.
  3. great job. I like the uplocking aero seat also. I like the layout of the rod handle and the guides. it is great fun building rods. before you know it you, too, will have rods, blanks, finishes, obscure guides, current guides, tip tops, epoxies, mixing sticks, trowels and spatulas, books, bookmarks tp the rodbuilding forums, and much, much, more squirreled away in all the places you can find to store it. what a great hobby! I guessitimate I have maybe 50 blanks laying around and wouldn't care to get more. I don't feel a great need to buy run of the mill rods but they are very adequate compared to the rods I grew up with in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
  4. guys I have problems with my trolling motor "walking" up the mounting plate when I use higher power. motor is a motorguide T34. I am going to put a 1" wood board on it today and see if that makes any difference. I haven't been able to put motor down into the last notch on the tilt so it is a few degrees off from perpendicular. the problem there is interference at outside of boat. I may try putting one on inside AND outside to gain the clearance I need. if the board/s doesn't fix problem has anybody drilled through mounting plates for a fix with a mounting plate concoction? I can't help but wonder if the tilt has something to do with the walking problem. thanks in advance and I am off with 250 waxworms on my vacation to terrorize bluegills and maybe some perch.
  5. the cabelas frabil case is on sale for 69 bucks.
  6. this is probably my first post here! i went again this year! what a deal! great deals on everything. i think next year i will try to get off for saturday and sunday. i have went in on sundays last year and this year. i did pick up 16 blanks, bunches of the little bitty micro guides i though were lost before i even got to look at the closely- man they're little things. saved a bunch of money, saw awesome rods(riley's rods were spectacular, as well as the other many phenomonal rods there). the savings on shipping paid for my gas from hickory, nc!
