  1. number 1 i am my outboard mechanic, & # 2 i never said i didnt believe you, i was just stating my OPINION tight lines
  2. i used to have a 7ft light action popping cast away($50), but it was waaay to light.... i took it back to academy and traded it for a castaway saltwater light action 7ft and man i love this rod its not too stiff, and not to light. Today i used it fishing 1/2oz spinnerbaits then switched to a tx rigged worm and it was doing some work. after tax it was right at $90
  3. my dad has a boat shop
  4. Also if possible dont let your boat sit up a long time without fuel stabilizer because when ethynol evaporates it sweats inside your fuel tank causing you to end up with water in your fuel
  5. Recently my dad recieved a memo from evinrude/johnson saying to at least run middle grade fuel in your boat motor(89 octane). they said will all the ethynol being used it is breaking down the oil (2 stroke motors) and causing pistons to burn up. we've recieved about 10 motors in the past month for overhauls do to this. Also, they said if you have a 2stroke where you mix your gas and your oil to mix it 1 pint to every 5 gallons, instead of the usual 1 pint to every 6 gallons. Hope this helps everyone in the future.
  6. another thing make sure none of the hoses are kinked because i've had the same problem and it ended up being a kinked gas line
  7. make sure your vent is not clogged up on your big tank. also check your pickup line if you have one in the tank to make sure there isnt any trash partially blocking it.
  8. i was just about to go buy some 12lb. i know its good for flippin/pitching cover but how did you like it as far as fishing with a crankbait through grass/weeds/crankin it along the bottom
  9. I would go to autozone and get a couple of the 12" light bars. i'm not sure how waterproof they are but my friend hasnt had any problems yet with his. also they come in a variety of colors so you could put some white ones in while your sitting there fishing and have some flourescent green ones you could turn on while cruising down the river. you can get them for about $10-$20 in my area depending on what brand you get
  10. in my opinion, i think its worth it. Its about a 3 1/2 hour drive from where i'm at. i usually go to rayburn for 3 days, come back home a day, then head out to lake nac for another 3 days... at nac i keep my boat in about 8ft of water and cast into about 3ft (fishing off the creekchannel dropoffs). i mainly throw a cotton cordell 3/8 sinking spot in rayburn red, a red spinnerbait, or a baby bass crankbait.. later on in the afternoons if my arms start getting tired i'll throw a green pumpkinseed senko. average about 25 decent sized bass a day (but i fish daylight till dark), usually catching at least 3 over 5 pounds. I'm not sure if this is really all that great or not because i've never fished some of the greater lakes like lake falcon/fork.
  11. anyone going to be fishin lake nac in march for the spawn?
  12. thanx for the info. i'm probably gonna just bite the bullet and end up the getting the 783c like you said. i've read many reviews on this rod and from what i hear its worth every penny... i just cant wait to get my hands on one of these bad boys and experience it myself.
  13. First off i'm new to the forum ( Hello Fellow anglers) and cant get enough of it . I live in texas on the coast and i do a lot of bass fishing and trout fishing, and the only rods i have ever owned were the $50 ones from academy ( castaway light action popping) because i liked the sensitivity. I'm wanting to upgrade to a loomis rod. for saltwater i'm always throwing a tout, and for bass fishing i use a spinnerbait 50% of the time and then use worms and crankbaits the other 50%.... what would be the best all around loomis rod for me? with the castaway i get worn out after fishin a couple of hours because the rod doesnt have enough backbone and is always bent even with the lightest cranks/spinners. i'm tryin to keep the price around $200 give or a few $$. Any info greatly appreciated Also, i'd even settle for the cheaper loomis's so i can buy two of them instead of having just one really expensive one
