  1. Now that's just awesome Great to see a youngster fishing!
  2. Haha, I thought maybe. We get a lot of "down staters" that come up especially to hunt. You been on Cowenesque and Hammond lakes then? These are where I spend most of my time for bass. It's convenient, considering I'm about 10 minutes away from them.
  3. Welcome from Tioga County, Pa!
  4. Thanks What did get your two bruisers on, if you don't mind me asking?
  5. Great fish, Mr. Crestliner!!!!! How many of those beauties were caught on your famed Senko/Float method?
  6. I made it down yet again. I always go with my dad and a buddy of mine. I really enjoy the guys from Susquehanna Fishing Tackle. They have a great booth (and website) and are just full of knowledge, imo. My buddy and I also picked up a few more rods from Robert Nosbisch at B&R Outlaw Rods. Been using them for a couple years now...fantastic rods especially for the money.
  7. By gollly, there are some Pennsylvania boys on here! Welcome from Tioga County! I LOVE the Susquey. I don't have a river boat so I usually hook up with Bass Fever guide service when I head that way and have never come away disappointed! We usually put in at Rockville. This is a fantastic site...I just try to be like a sponge and soak up all the knowledge
  8. I just bought a couple Subwalks in Mossback Shiner. Never used them before, but I hear a lot of good things. Nice 'un!
  9. Oh my Lord, Boone!!! Those are some seriously broad shouldered smallies! Really, that is awesome. Beautiful fish.
  10. I have done real well with the Spro Hydro Pop, Yo-Zuri ZZ Pop, and Heddon Spit n Image Jr. Any of these with a light colored belly worked great for me.
  11. The Cabin Creek Critter Gitter 4" tube in Junebug has landed me quite a few big green bass while after smallies. Next though, would be the X-Rap 8 like RW said. Caught some darn nice hybrid stripers on the X-Rap 8 as well.
  12. Haha, yep..been through a lot while wearin' that hat.
  13. Well, I am sure I'm not alone when I say that cabin fever has set in bad. Ice fishing is getting old and it is way too darn cold to hike or bike. It is this time every winter that It's nice to reminisce a little about some of the great bites we encountered in past seasons (I tend to favor the brown bass bites 8-) ) So let's see some of your better smallies from last year. If you want, you can also state the weight and what baits your beauties fell to. I'll get the ball rolling... My avatar pic- Spro Hydro Pop 60... 4.2lbs Top left- #8 X-Rap Gold... 3.6 lbs Top Right- #8 X-Rap Gold... 4.2lbs Bottom left- Spit-n-Image Jr... 4.2 lbs Bottom Right- Spro Hydro Pop 60...3.2lbs
  14. Thanks Dodgeguy, that's good to know!
  15. Thanks a bunch. Got er figured out now. Mine came with 4 brakes in and 2 out. I'll give that a try before I change it. Any idea why they went this route with braking instead of the way the other Revos are set up?
  16. Hey guys, got a silly question...just purchased a Revo Winch...but I'm not sure how to adjust the magnets. In the manual it shows the side plate coming off and also shows a star type pattern of magnets like my old Curado had. I'm not sure how to remove the side plate, as I can't locate any sort of release mechanism. Thanks for the help
  17. I know it seems self explanatory given the descriptions and my needs, but there's something about the Nestor Falls rod that is appealing. Does anyone have either of these rods?
  18. Hey guys, I just learned of the Falcon Trade Up program and would like to trade my old Cara in on a new one. This rod is going to be used mostly for smallies. I will be using this rod primarily for grubs, tubes, drop shot, shakey heads, finesse jigs (bitsy bug, hairs jigs, etc). If I end up with the "drop Shot" rod, I may throw some small jerks with it. I've narrowed my choices down to these two (underneath is what they say about each rod) Thanks! *Cara Spinning CS-4-169M Cara Drop Shot M F 8 6-12 lb. 3/16 to 1/2 oz. 6' 9" Split $199.99 "The incredible sensitivity, fast tip, and shaded grip make this the "go-to" rod for drop shotting, shakey heads, or finesse jigs" *Cara Spinning CS-3-17ML Nestor Falls Spin ML XF 8 6-12 lb. 1/8 to 1/4 oz. 7' Split $199.99 "Take this one with you if you are going after small mouth."
  19. Well, yesterday I got on Cabela's site and ordered a 600yd spool of 8lb and a 600yd spool of 6lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft at $11.99 each....which I didn't that was too shabby Lets just hope I like it! J Francho- That is a TOAD! Beautiful fish man. The braid with Flouro leader will be my next try for sure.
  20. I thank you guys for all the input Maybe I'll try the tying it to the tree method with a swivel...then try to spool it onto my Quantum E30PTi. The bigger spool may help? I just hate like heck to have to throw it away after paying 40 bucks for two spools! This will be my last resort before getting some Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
  21. The Legend Tournament Bass Series "Tube" rod is 7ft....and still doesn't cast worth a darn with the two different brands/sizes of flouro.
  22. I spooled the reel (3000 size) like the manual suggests, just like you would a baitcaster...having someone hold the spool of line via pencil through the center. I can't remember if the line came off the top or bottom of spool, but i do know that there was no twist. I sprayed the line while spooling periodically with the KVD spray. It does not jump off the spool or behave badly besides this casting issue. I did switch reels and mono of the same size (8lb) cast like a dream. I only wanted to try flouro because I wanted to be more stealthy on some of the ultra clear NY lakes I frequent (tubes and drop-shot). maybe I'll give the Yo-Zuri hybrid a try...
  23. Hey guys, I'm having trouble casting Flouro on my spinning outfit. I've got a St. Croix Legend Tournament "Tube" rod matched with a Shimano Stradic FI spooled with 8lb Suffix flouro. I had the same results with 6lb Trilene 100% Flouro on the same rig. It comes off the spool in large loops, which has a hard time flowing through the guides. This restricted flow has shortened my casts by nearly half the distance I can achieve with monofilament. I've used the KVD line conditioner without much success in the way of casting. This has to be a common occurrence, so I would think there would be a way to deal with this problem....I'm just not smart enough to figure it out : Thanks!
