1983 Challenger Sport Fisher Pro
Hey Guys, Is this boat worth the $2300 they are asking? Everything looks to be in excelent shape. The motor runs great, but it doesn't have power tilt/trim. I haven't checked the compression, but the owner said he would check it with me there so I can witness the readings. What do ya'll think?

sooo...
hmmm good offer, but i think i need to settle for a bit more cash : Okay, but I'm told I am quite pleasant to fish with. You can't put a price on a good fishin' buddy.... Good luck on selling the boat.

I'll give you 10 bucks for it, and as a bonus, I'll let you come fishing with me... I can be there in a couple of hours. lol

Re: My "New" Boat Project
They took me a few hours to make. It's not hard as long as you know how to weld. I filled both of them with expanded foam, so I had to wait overnight for it to cure, but other than that it didn't take too long. It was all scrap metal I had around the shop. FishinSteve, I'm sorry for accidentaly taking over your thread.

Don't shoot me: Jon 1432 adding stability
It just looks that way, but both seats are exactly the same height. I agree, the boat can be used without the outriggers, but it makes me feel more comfortable with them. When I take my 5 year old son out with me, I am willing to make sure that we don't go swimming. I can't afford a bigger boat, so I make my little boat just as stable as a bigger boat.

2.5HP Mercury or 5HP Briggs & Stratton?
Hey Guys, In about a week, I'm going to buy a small outboard for my 1432 jon boat, and I can only afford one of the motors listed above. I would love to get a bigger motor, but it's just not possible. I could go used, but I'd rather have new. My question is: since the 5HP Briggs is basically a lawn mower engine on a lower unit, is the smaller Merc. going to be equivilent to the Briggs? Also, I can't find any information about whether either has a slip clutch. Someone told me "don't buy an outboard unless it has a slip clutch". What do ya'll think? Thanks

Guys, it would appear that I am slightly to moderatly retarded. I posted these pictures in the wrong freakin' thread. It's ashame I can't build outriggers for my mind to keep me from drowning in stupidity..... Enjoy:

DAMMIT!! Sorry guys, not sure how that happened.

Re: My "New" Boat Project
Thanks. It's funny you mention the tires. They came off our old Jeep 4WD Renegade, and it just happened that the rims matched the axel hubs on the trailer I built. I have been meaning to get some smaller tires, but I think it looks kind of cool having big mud-grip tires on a boat trailer.

Re: My "New" Boat Project
It might be stable enough for a skinny fellow, but not for the "full size" guys like me. I'm fixing to upgrade the 4" PVC to 6", and I'm going to change the adjustment mechanism. I want to make it so they swing straight up, and don't have to be removed to launch and load on the trailer. But until I figure out a way to do this, it works great as is.
