  2. If you don't mind paying $25 for a permit from the Regional Water Authority (rwater.com), you can fish the Maltby Lakes, Lake Chamberlain, and Lake Saltonstall. They are not open yet for fishing, but I have had really good luck at both Maltby and Saltonstall. The Branford supply pond, Lake Wintergreen, and the Ansonia Reservior are other good ones not far from New Haven.
  3. If you're in CT specifically, the DEP puts out a book titled 'A Fisheries Guide to Lakes and Ponds of Connecticut.' I just pick it up a couple weeks ago and it looks really good. It has all the topography maps as well as fish populations and densities for most of the (non-private) lakes and ponds in CT. The ISBN-13 is 9780942085112 for those who are interested.
