Wow, he rigs that hook REALLY far back. Yeah, I noticed that too. How does he get it so far back w/o destroying the front of the lure?

Because flukes obviously catch everything. : They catch the only fish I fish for............

As far as the retrieve rate I usually let the fish tell me that.

My bread and butter is a watermelon seed, 3/0 gamagatsu (sp?) hook, 6'6" med heav berkley bionics rod, with a KVD spinning real.

$16 to $20 for a lure???? No thank! I'll just stick with my $3 bag of flukes.

If you can't feel the fluke you definitely have too heavy of a rod. Lighten up the rod and stick to it. It took me a little while to get the hang of it but once I did it was game on.

Definately. Me too..........this year I've actually tried to get away from using them so much.

Most of the time, if I'm with my buddy, as soon as I feel a bite I'll drop the rod down, take out the slack, tell him watch this, rip back, and go BOOM! ;D

Check out the new Kevin Van Dam spinning reel. I picked it up for $79, normally $100, a couple of weeks ago. Its on a 6ft Berkley bionics medium rod and I LOVE the set up....Oh and it looks pretty smooth too.

Yup, just start off with a med weight practice plug in the front yard. I've been using a bait caster off and on for a year now and still backlash from time to time.
