I'll say - It Depends. For 3 years I worked part time in a local tackle shop. I was paid by the hour and made Zero commission. I usually handed my check back to the owner to pay for all the tackle I bought. This particular establishment catered mainly to the saltwater anglers on New Jersey's south shore. I sold live, fresh & frozen bait along with tons of lures & terminal tackle. Being a serious angler myself, I really enjoyed helping people out by getting them the right gear and then telling them how, where & when to use it. The single best "Sales Pitch" I could make would be one that ended up with the customer having fun & being successful ~ because that would bring them back. There's enough competition around that a one & done customer was not desirable or very profitable. Solid real & truthful information is what keeps anglers coming back. So you can relate that to bass fishing any way you'd like but the truth is - when someone gives you advice you can choose to follow it or not. But if you do and it works - you'll probably go back there. A-Jay

The bottom line for me is, I want to catch fish and I'll use whatever technique or presentation I have to to do it. But when the discussion moves to "favorite baits" I have that too. It all starts with long bomb cast and then plenty of Chunking & Winding. I don't know what it is about it. I can't explain why it's my favorite - it just is. And so there are a ton of baits that can fit the bill here, from all kinds of crank baits, spinner & buzz baits, even jerkbaits & topwater. The fact that I get to cover water, launch the cast, work the bait and then react to the strike with a quick, stiff hooks set, really gets my juices flowing. I'm even enjoying just typing about it here . . . . Of Course it doesn't hurt that 9 out of 10 of my Largest Bass have all come doing just that. A-Jay

Perhaps try some KVD Line conditioner - it can't hurt and most often helps. btw - you may have just set the record for Most Line Used with the Least Number of Casts. Congrats On a serious note - I'd recommend going with a solid 15 lb mono, like Big Game, and working on your casting skills a bit more. Because it's probably not the line. A-Jay

Try using plus size mono ~ 20lb with the rod held high can help keep a bait running higher. A-Jay

I haven't noticed any problems. It's just like doing a regular load of laundry but using the product instead of traditional soap. Rinses out well & without leaving a smell or residue, if that's what you're implying. A-Jay

The Motor & both Talons have custom covers made by Tuff Skinz. http://www.tuffskinz.net/ I'm very happy with the quality, fit & finish of them all. Best part is they are designed to be left on the units (including the motor) for storage, travel and USE ! The motor cover is vented to allow proper air flow to your engine while it is running. They will protect your motor from UV rays, rocks, lures, limbs, aerial assaults from birds, sea salt, and the elements, while keeping your motor looking new. Covers for the Talons are also designed with opening to allow for manual operation of the unit with the cover left on. Remotes work as well. A-Jay

I use the Nikwax Tech Wash first to clean the gear and then the TX Direct wash-in to waterproof it. Been using it on all my GuideWear now several seasons. Just follow the instructions - seems to work well. The other option is to just get a spray on product like Camp-Dry. Those products work well on the lighter non-gortex gear. Wash it first and then really soak it. Do it in a well ventilated place (even better outside) Then let it dry completely. Usually takes a day. A-Jay

Cleaning it up & starting to rig and add gear today.(in the garage) Of course the dealer did their customary clean & prep before I picked it up, but the A-Jay version is seriously next level. Always includes quite a bit more attention to detail (insert I take stuff apart). It's also I great way to check over the entire rig as well as learn a ton about every aspect of the boat, motor, trailer & all associated options / equipment. Been doing on my trucks for a while now & it has served me well. But I got the time too. So with all of that said, It's been Thundering / Raining off & on all day here and it's forecasted to continue through Sunday - Monday might be the first reasonable Launching . . And Yes, I do mean Launching. A-Jay
