  1. If you are looking at spinning gear I would have to recommend the St. Croix Avid AVS66MF spend the extra 20 bucks you won't be sorry you did great all around rod. As for a reel Daiwa Tierra TDTR2000 is a very nice reel for the price about $115.00 as for line Yo -Zuri Hybrid #12lb. test is hard to beat . Good Luck

  6. Good Luck and have fun doing it try to think out of the box. It is easier to wire it now then after you frame it out and deck it.
  7. I did mine using 1qt roll and tip method I think two quarts just to be on the safe side I don't know about you but to run out would tick me off before I was done. Good Luck
  8. I'm not saying this to be mean, but sure sounds like you don't know what you are doing and most of the time you are only going to make the problem worse or create new ones. I would bring it back to the dealer to have them trouble shoot the problem it's a matter of pay me now or pay me later and later all ways costs more. I would not buy new batteries just yet see all ready spending money you may not have to. JMHO Good Luck
  9. That's a good price just hope you get a good one. Mine had bail issues right out of the box sent it back to Shimano at the cost of $10.00. They have had it for 7 weeks now still have not received it back. called and am getting a run around . Not very happy with Shimano at this point and time. Check other blogs there seem to be issues with this reel, I wish I did. JMHO Good Luck
  10. Hey guys have a question about warranty work. Sent back a new Stradic FI 2500 for warranty work bail issues.. I have never sent any thing back to Shimano for service so I have no idea if this is normal for them. I sent back this reel in November I have not heard any thing email ,letter so on from them so I called them yesterday to check on the status of my reel. The customer rep. told me that they received the reel on December 3, but it has not been serviced or looked at yet. My question to any one who has ever had work done by Shimano is is this amount of time normal? I have had two other reels serviced one was a Daiwa and the other was a Pfueger and I had both back in two weeks. Would like to know if any one else out there has had the same experience with Shimano. I have heard that there service is second to none could not prove it by me. Merry Christmas To All and My God Bless Mike(aka Tenn Walking Horse)

  17. Hey Flechero or Mike was all so looking at Kistler Magnesium TS MgJTH 70 any input on this rod its not the money I have a Kistler Mag rod and really like it. Man am I at a real cross road thats why I turn to you guys I really value your input and knowledge
  18. I was thinking about getting a new frog rod. I was looking at the St. Croix Slop-n-Frog (LTBC70HF). Was wondering if anyone out there has used this rod and what is your honest opinion of it. Right now I'm using a Shimano Compre (CPC-X610MHB). I like the rod. It casts really well and has excellent sensetivity. Most of my lures are between 1/2 and 3/4 oz. I use a Curado E-7 reel with 50 lb. power-pro braid. My only problem is I do not feel that this rod has enough backbone, but I do not necessarily want to give up "castability" and sensetivity for a rod with more backbone (like a cue stick). Would appreciate any input at all on frog rods.
  19. Thanks to all who answered you guys are great that is why I love this forum.
  20. I was wondering about this figured I would put it out there to see how people feel about it. Most of my rods are in the $200.00 plus range ,reels from $180 to $250.00. I all so own some entry level set ups. I feel you should buy the best equipment that you can afford. I know there are many people out there who can not afford high end set ups more important to feed your family and they catch just as many fish as the people with the big buck set ups. So here is my question I don't know any one who owes a Shimano Calais DC or a G-Looms GLX so it is hard to say if they are worth the extra money or not. I know there are many people on this forum who do own these types of set ups so I thought I would ask for some honest opinions. At what point do you think you are just paying for the prestige of owning some of the high end rods and reels and can not really tell the difference between a $100.00 rod and a $300.00 rod. As for reels casting further I can cast may cheapest set up with in one yard of a set up that cost 10X the price. I know the quality is not the same and the reel will most likely fail in a short period of time but that aside is it really worth spending $700.00 plus dollars verses $400.00 on a rig. Do you high end guys really think there is a real trade off for the price or does it really just come down to prestige after all? Hoping to get some good feed back on this.
  21. You are going to love the Avid I know what you are going through. Good Luck with your new rig
