  6. Thank God every thing worked out for the best. I had a friend who went over board hit his head on a rock did not make it. Yes it happens very fast auto is the way to go. It don't help if you are not wearing it.
  7. I use a lip grip it works great and don't hurt the fish makes it easy to get hook out all so. About 20 to 30 bucks
  8. This morring $4.99 9/10 for diesel and $4.78 9/10 for reg here in Jersey. Most of the ocean going boats never leave the docks thats how I see. Its all a bunch of Bull if you ask me. I remember when I was a kid them saying we need the Alaska pipe line so we can get away from our dependence on foreign oil. Ya right we paided for a pipe line so the oil companys can sell it for more money over seas. > > >
  9. Am I to late if so o well If not THANKS email sent
  10. I have not had any problems with mine. Write a letter to them they may send you new ones.
  11. joe_ohlandt hit the nail on the head do what he recommends and you will be fine. I guess that is a hard lesson to learn $$$$$ plus time I hope you learned from it. Lots of luck :o
  12. There is no set in stone rule on this. It all depans on the load (amp draw) and the distance of the line run. I would say as a rule of thumb to us the largest gauge wire extenation cord you can buy. 12 gauge or larger I will tell you now they will be expensive. The typical orange cord you by is 16 gauge. How far is the run (feet) what is the load rating on your charge (name plate FLA / full load amps ) is it a trickle type charger or a auto car charger?
  13. It sounds like you had a bad ground to start with by rewiring you now created a short. First check to make sure the fuse is rated right. Now with no power use a multi - meter set on continuity to check for the short. Open each light lens and disconnect each light and or connection one at a time . Connect one test lead to ground and the other lead to the power wire feeding the light. If the meter beeps or you read ohms the problem is in the circuit. Make sure there are no strands of wire touching the frame you my have a bulb with the filament that is shorting to ground and not open. Finding a short is very time consuming just go one wire at a time. Lots of luck PS: Never over rate the fuse you can cause a wire to over heat and burn. All so using dielectric grease on all your connections is a good idea it cuts down on corrosion. Hope I was of some help to you. Walking Horse
  14. Us distilled water if you can and make sure the plates are covered if the top of the battery is a mess there is to much water in the cells. If you are all ways adding water you are charging at to many amps or you have a leak. Just my two cents!
  15. Slow charging is better then fast. To high a rate ie:to many amps for to long will cook the water out of the battery and could damage the plates inside. Auto charge w/shut off is best Black and Decker makes a nice unit Walmart about 30 bucks I think.
  16. Its a smart man who knows his limitations. If you don't know any thing about wiring pay someone who does. It will be cheaper in the long run. If you do some thing wrong and smoke an on board computer you will be in for a job that will cost you big bucks. Some times a little knowledge can be dangers. Take my word on this I have seen it a hundred times.
  17. I have a Prodigy and like it very much I all so have a Daiwa Mag Force and a Shimano Mg 51. You can not compare the Prodigy to the Mg 51 its just not fair. But the Prodigy is a nice reel for the money casts nice and smooth drag is easy to set brake is Z type and works better the the regaler mag force brake system I think ;D ;D made very well and lite in weight its a Daiwa. I would buy other in a heart beat. :) :)
  18. Most batterys have a life cycle of three to five years plus if it is a marine battery they are deep cycling and have alot of power. You can take the battery to a car repair place and ask them to do a carbon pile draw test on it that will tell you if the battery can hold up under load.
  19. There should be a data plate some were on the motor look at it and see what the FLA is( Full Load Amps) if it is over 40amps change the breaker . If you know someone that has a DC amp probe (DC amps and AC amps are not the same) put the boat in the water and have them check the load of the motor at full power. See if it is drawing close to 40amps if it is change the breaker. As for using a fuse there are many kinds quick blow, slow blow and so on it can get very confusing on what type to use also remember if you use double protection the one that is closest to the power source will blow first. If I were you I would just bite the bullet and buy the recommend breaker and be done with it. Lets face it all your going to do with the extra money is feed the Bait Monkey any way. Lots of luck there is no substitute for safety :
  20. Thanks everyone for your input think I'm going to go for the Mg51. Walking Horse and the Bait Monkey thanks you. PS: My wife is starting to dislike the bait monkey big time. :)
  21. I would like to find out what method and tools are used by most people to sharpen ther hooks. How do you feel about this subject all input welcome.

  23. Owner ST - 31 or Gammies both great hooks but Excalibur beat the pants off both of them as far as sharpness right out of the pack. Don't likeVMC at all. JMHO
