Fishin after the rain?
I read the article about fishin and thunderstorms and I have had my share of those. As a younger fisherman, alot of older men tell me that fishing after a summer shower or a slow soaker (no thunderstorm) is not good fishing beacuse of all the stuff (food and such) washed in the lake. I have fished several times after the slow rains and have cought a few but the quality and quanity is much less. Should I not bother and wait til the next day to go? And do fish "turn off" after the rain or do they move somewhere else? Thanks!

new
Hey glad to see you on here and that you are back fishng! Sorry to hear about your gradfather, my gradfather got me started in the sport as well, and I still try and go with him when I can. Anyways, a beginner can never go wrong with a plastic worm/lizard with a tail that has action. I learned by casting out and winding in. After you pick up your experence try different retrives with the lure to make it have a different appearence to the fish. Also a small spinnerbait or and in-line spinner works well also. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Smallmouth HELP
Alrighty, I have never caught nore even fished for a smallmouth. I am going off to college this fall and alot of the local lakes have smallmouth in them as well as some largemouth. I have always fished for largemouth and am a big fan, but I am always up for a new species of bass! I know that smallies will hit some same things a largemouth will but not everything? Can anyone give me some advice on what to us and lures or rigs to use to catch them, any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Speed Finessing?
I have grown to like finesse fishing more with the slower fall and watching the line, but that takes time. I fish with a friend that likes to cover water and doesn't slow down that much to finesse fish. Well since its not my boat I really have no say. Ever time I try to fish it, my lure always winds up dragging behind the boat before I can get it back. Does anyone have any techniques or advice to were I may could speed up the finesse process and still work it properly? Thanks

Help on keepin um alive when hooked deep?
Raul, on your suggestions, the conditions werent as favorible as I said, and the wind was blowing. When I would hook up with my bass, I was using a steady retrive so they just came up and ate it I wasnt stopping it or anything. Would the heavier sinker still work in this case even if it was a steady retrieve? Thanks for the input everybody!

Help on keepin um alive when hooked deep?
Thanks for the help guys, if there is anymore input it will be greatly appreciated. The article posted on this one by RebBasser works very well, I tried it today when I was fishing a senko in a pond that my family owns and a bass got it way down in her. I used the technique and the hook came right out like it said.

Help on keepin um alive when hooked deep?
Today me and my fishin partner hit the lake for some practice and shapen our skills. COnditions weren't the most favoriable but I still managed to catch fish on a Carolina-rig lizard. Anyway, what I getting too is the fact that the bass where just attacking the lizard and the line would just get heavy, no nibbling on it. Today I hooked two nice ones deep in the mouth or what I call "goozle hooked". One survived and the other one didnt. If I were in a tourney I would just cut my line and leave the hook. Does anyone have any advice about getting your hook back without killing the fish and is there a better way i can prevent the bass from swallowing the hook when they just attack it and get a hook set in the jaw instead?

Post spawnin bass
Here recently after several trips to the lake without catching that much, I have really been tryin to do my homework. After reading many articles and websites I have read two different stories on where bass go after they spawn. The first being they go deep (15-20ft) holding on flats, points, and ledges. The other is that they stay shallow and hold to thick cover such as grass beds or laydowns. Can anyone point me in the right direction on which is true, or are they both true? Also I would like to say this is one of the best forums I have seen, great articles and friendly people! Thanks

Ever have this happen?
One day last summer a friend and myself were on a local lake about a good 15 minute run back to the launch and a bad storm came up with bad lightning and all of a sudden the boat died. In the middle of the water no one around and a dead boat. Luckly about 5 minutes later a pontoon came by and gave us a tow but we had to ride in the storm until we got back to the truck and soaking weter along with everthing we had.

Boat Docks
Here recently I have learned how to skip a lure fairly well under docks and pileings and things of that sort. I haven't had much luck on the catching end of the skill though. I was using a tube lizard (watermelon/red) and a lizard also. Does any one have any suggestions on lures or other techniques that could improve my catch on getting up under the docks ???
