It causes a frenzy it's like my lure becomes an amusement ride and the bass are all lined up for there turn. It's bass after bass action. Like the turtle man says it's live action. What ever they mean. I caught 19 bass standing in one spot it was bass after bass.In the light warm rain and my Joe's fly 1/4oz bass size inline spinner in firetiger apache it was live action. I caught bass after bass in another spot during the overcast by casting in the exact same spot. My rebel BIG CLAW CRAWFISH crankbait in chartreuse that dives 10' it was live action. Another evening just as a front approached before the rain hit it was live action with the two of us catching many doubles in the same spot. We were using two mepps Anglia #3 inline spinners. In two different colors. All of my outings I'm fishing one area from shore. With my limited time I have fishing because of my health I was averaging 7 to 9 bass per outing. From one spot so I'm not spooking them while fishing in stealth mode. But make one coff and watch the wake in the water going away from you. But the casting doesn't scare them. I make soft, gentle side arm casts past them. Then I bring the lure slowly near them. Every time they break topwater I cast past the spot and bring my lure near them. That's stealth mode live action bass fishing.

It's not important I just wanted to know what line test everyone is using on there lighter weight lures on there bait casters. I do use a 5' spinning rod for my smaller lighter lures I may replace with a lighter bait caster so I asked here. Before spending the $$ for a setup and finding out it can't be done. I look to you guys with stuff I haven't done yet. You guys have more experience with the bait casters were I have very little using one off and on.

I figured I would ask about the lightest crank I would possibly use as an example. I know it doesn't cast out far even with my lightest bass spinning setup. Like you guys said using a light action longer rod with #6 test with a low friction spoiled bait caster with no friction on the spool and the brakes turned off is going to be as good as it gets for throwing the lighter lures. I'll have to accept it is what it is. I wonder if a spincast setup would work better than a spinning setup.

It can happen to any boater. It's not imbarassing at all thank God you guys are ok. It's a good warning that anything unexpected can happen at anytime. And safety measures must be followed wearing your Pfd is very important. When my son wanted to get his first dirtbike with his own money that he saved up. I told the misses we can at least get him all the safety gear. I got him the boots, knee &elbow pads, Jersey & pants a DOT approved helmet and gloves/chest protector. I told the wife you can't put a price on safety. If you don't buy him all the safety gear upfront before he rides you better plan on spending time in the hospital with him. I hammered my son and rode with him. I purchased him videos on how to ride and use body English.

Awesome go fishing site in the UK lots of info. I noticed on the US Reel super caster spinning reels there tilted towards the larger lower eye on the rod. More over than the other reels. This gives the line a maximum flow off the spool into the eye. Just some reel facts; Other than my new US reels I been happy with the Globe, the Viva, the Finor and the Okuma spinning reels so far. A few years back I purchased a new #15 Viva and a #15 Okuma spinning reel and found both brands to be exactly the same reel. I purchased the larger spinning reels and they were different. Maybe viva looked to okuma for there smaller reel. The older #15 reel was a little workhorse.

Some guys here are saying the lews bait caster is a good one. Do you think we will see the Friday after thanksgiving sales? I hope we see lots of fishing equipment on sale. I don't need rods and reels but I'm a lure junkie for sure. The bait monkey has me upside down by my ankles and he's not letting me go.

I just purchased the US Reel Super Caster Spinning Reels. There a 2500/3000 body sized reel with a 5000/6000 sized spool so the line flows off the spool much easier and faster allowing it to cast farther. There on sale right now. I hear rumors the company is up for sale. I purchased more than two of every model super caster they offer in the spinning and bait caster reels they offer. These were not cheap reels at there normal list price. I'm a shore fisherman were a longer cast in the open water or closer out to the Lilly pads I just can't reach with a standard size spooled reel. You don't need every rod setup with this super caster you just need one setup and another reel as backup. My thoughts are I can use a heavier test line with the larger super caster spool and cast just as far as a standard sized spool reel. The US reel 180 model is ultra lite, the 230 & 240 models appear the same but the 240 model holds about 175yards more line over the 230 model. I'm surprised this super caster spool design never caught on or why no one copied it. I see the guy on river monsters using a spinning reel with a larger spool too. Another point is these super caster spinning reels are lighter weight wise over the standard reels too. I haven't had time to actually compare and test them against each other yet. I take hotdogs on a slice of bread with a slice of cheese. Roll it up with aluminium foil and twist the ends up were the open side is and place on a oven rack with the twisted ends up. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes @ 375 degrees. You can add chili, Kraut, mustard, relish or hot sauce. I like to add chili and Kraut. These will disappear very quickly.

When you go to put 1rd in the pipe first in a pistol make sure you feed it from the magazine so you won't detune the extractor. This happens on the 1911's a lot. (Stove pipes) I like the double action on the first shot on the cz 82, cz 83 & cz 85. You can put one in the pipe without cocking it and locking it. You just pull the trigger on the first shot. Then it's semi auto after that.

I'm firing off 1937 Turkish 8mm mausers ammo and it all goes BANG. Even my reloads from the mid 70's all goes bang. I store my ammo in 50cal ammo cans. My ccw ammo is imported and the bullet and primer has a red laquer seal around them. I never had a failure using imported ammo. I never had a shelf life problem with any new ammo and my rifle reloads too.

When I was working the night shift we built and tested a 1/2" tubing gun operated from an air hose. We were shooting either 1/16" or 1/8" pipe plugs threw 1/2" plywood.

What line test do you use when your throwing lighter lures on a bait caster with a lite rod? Under 1/4oz. Can it actually cast a 2" rapala original floater.

I would think it's the round Garcia crankbait reel. I have two bait caster setups using this round Garcia reel. To me it's heavier duty over the low profile bait casters.

Good question. I asked this many times to one of my discount places to explain it because the sizes do vary with the similair model number from different manufacturers. The #30 isn't the same size across the board. I find the number #30 to be smaller in size than it once was."example" but true. I own many #30 reels from different manufacturers and the spool sizes vary, some Look like a #20 or #25 size wise. I use the #20, #25, #30 reels on my 5'6" med, 6', 6'6" to 7' rods. I use the 500/ #15 on my 5' & 5'6" ultra-lite rods. (smaller spools lighter line) The 4000 to 6000 are on my inshore & saltwater 7' , 8', 9'+ rods. (Larger spools heavier line) One overlooked factor is the weight of the reel. When throwing lures for hours a heavier reel could get tiring. Unless you want to combine a fishing trip with a trip to the gym at the sametime. So not only does the size of the reel matter the weight matters too.

I make the baits slow enough to look like an easy meal to the bass. I move inline spinners just fast enough to see the blade spin. With cranks its just fast enough so it has the full wobble only slower. I don't have success fishing anything fast. The slower the speed the better. But I do make sure I crank the reel in a perfect circle. If our hand turns with our wrist in an egg shape movement, meaning it's not a perfect round circle our lure goes fast and slow on every turn of the crank. We need that perfect circle turning of the crank. The fish look for flaws in our presentation. Having a constant lure speed on the whole cast is one of them.

Glenn here taught me about spinnerbaits. I watched his videos too. He also gave me the common sense way of instruction on the how to's of a lot of bass fishing stuff. Even though I'm a shore fisherman it's an information highway here between everyone. There's a lot of stuff I haven't done or used yet. I'm still learning new stuff everyday. If you have a question just ask here and fisherman all over our country will help you out. In my early days of bass fishing it was just the tv shows. Then this sight was on the internet and it supported me from the very beginning here. I been here a longtime. I think I have vested rights for a pension too. Kidding. But there's no better sport than fishing. If it wasn't for this sight I wouldn't be the fisherman I am today. I'm living my dream just shore fishing. Ot, My only complaint is I wish we had more handicap places to fish at in my state. Easy access where the handicapped could actually catch fish. I'm disabled but can just fish certain areas. I feel for the ones who want to fish but can't. I like to see everyone catch fish. That's my goal in life.

My son goes up on the roof with my leaf blower to clean the gutters. It's much easier and faster.

I would suggest a soft sided tackle bag that can hold up to 6 3600 boxes. This way you can carry, jigs, cranks, topwater, plastics, inline spinners, get a small spinner bait box for spinnerbaits. Or a small soft sided spinner bait bag that will fit in the side compartment on the larger soft sided bag.

The minute a new lure catches fish it's on like donkey Kong buying them.

I'm a lure color freak besides being a lure junkie. When a have success with a lure and it out fishes the other lures I buy a lot of them. As each different color of the same type of lure catches fish too I buy more of those. I have a fear of my lures and color style being discontinued too. Like the BPS XPS Topnocker and the Bomber FAT A. The topnocker is the hottest topwater lure I have ever used. The bomber FAT A has been my go to lure for eons even in the old craw and shad colors it still catches fish. I stock up every lure that I have success with. It's costly but I feel better by having them in-house rather than scrambling trying to buy them all up when there discontinued. The older stuff still works and never lets me fail. Now once a new lure works for me I purchase two of every color to start off with so I can match any water and light condition. As time goes on I purchase more. I have boxes of cranks, plastics. I give lures to my kids too.

I use 6 Plano 3700 boxes to store all my jigs at home. In the bottom of my tackle box my jigs are setup with trailers in different colors in zip loc bags. I carry just a few different ones with me. My Siebert Outdoor jigs I have are most of the different jigs that Mike offers. I have the boxes all labeled. So there all sorted out to there types, colors and sizes. I find it awesome to have a supply at home in-house. My jigs are ready to go swimming at a moment's notice. If I'm just going to fish with jigs I have the 3700 boxes in a soft tackle bag.
