My hottest topwater lure, ever is the BPS/XPS TOPNOCKER it's my hottest fish catching lure ever. I gave two of these to both my son's and within minutes they were catching bass on it too. Too bad BPS discontinued the awesome topwater fish catching lure or was it outlawed? Luckily I have six left. It works with any presentation. Now it went along with the flying lure to its tackle box grave what a shame. All lures will catch fish at onetime or another. Some lures will catch more fish than others. I just don't understand why they discontinue such a hot topwater lure. Recently Bomber discontinued the Bomber FAT A crankbait.It's one of my hottest crankbaits in the older proven fish catching colors. Luckily I have a big box of all these FAT A's in all the colors. This is my go to crankbait. These colors still work at all the places I fish at and the new places too. Hint, When we look at lures that are sold out or on backorder you know that's a hot lure and In demand.

Sorry I keep on forgetting the brand of one of my affordable swimbaits. Wal-Mart had these but they seem to switch to different plastics every year. The swimsuits I use with success a lot are the Renosky Scattering Shad. Rigged weedless it can be thrown anywhere. These are very affordable and they come in all colors, with two hooks too. I been using the 6" in blue or blue glimmer and the chartreuse colored ones. I just haven't tried the other colors yet. Read the back for the package for the movements of a wounded baitfish presentation. I can't find these still being offered anywhere? I contacted renosky.

Trust me if you start fishing every single day back to back for over three months from every spring till you get burned out like I did for many years you will learn something. Plus I read everything here, watched every bass fishing video from every new and old pro every off season just to stay sharp. During the spring I live bass fishing, I eat bass fishing and sleep bass fishing. Ok I eat while watching bass fishing videos or shows on tv. Now go out and try everything we learned on the water plus be ready for in education on the water. Nothing beats the time on the water fishing. The biggest thing I do when I'm bass fishing is I block out all my personal problems, my bills, my honey do list. It's me and the fish when I'm fully in the zone. Like don't even talk to me. This is why I fish alone. If your going fishing to talk stay home. If you need to solve a problem fishing isn't going to do it. Now get in the zone, block everything out, watch and pay attention to what the fish are doing, how they react to your lures. Look behind your lures for short strikes all the time on every cast. Scan the water in your area with your polarized glasses. These bigger gals will appear like ghosts very quietly and leave. I believe they come by to see what the smaller bass are biting on as we're catching them. Don't harass them but remember the area they appeared at for the future trip in the dark. It's like putting an "X" on that spot. If I do cast at that spot, I throw a plastic bait far behind it and bring it in slowly near it not on top or at it. Do it quietly. But I'd rather not spook her. Short Strikes, I learned about this from watching a Bill Dance tv show about fly fishing for bass. The cameraman was away from Bill but closer to but parallel to his casts. We could see the fly from the full cast to the boat. They never mentioned the short strikes on the program but ever cast had flashes behind his fly from short strikes. This taught me to stay focused on watching behind the lure if we can see it on every cast. Using topwater and shallow running lures. If the water is gin clear we can get quite a show. Do not over react, stay calm and fish. Don't do any quick movements with the rod go slow not to spook them, make side casts. I'm no pro nor claim to be I'm just a fisherman like you. I just watch what's going on more. I'm in no rush to fish I just go slow. Get in the zone and don't panic during the action. I enjoy catching any size bass if a larger one strikes so be it. I learn on every trip. Just enjoy every fishing trip and take notes, where your fishing, at what date and time, how many bass were caught and what size. Also include the moon phases too you may see a month to month pattern with the full Moon phases I won't tell you so you can decide. With fishing tv and videos listen to what they say but watch closely how they do it. You have all the free videos here to watch too these guys are the best. Since I make very long casts with my topwater rod with the okuma spinning reel from shore I may try a US spinning reel maybe next season or sooner. Then we can compare both rod setups for distance. Does anyone have experience with the US spinning reels with the longer casts?

Way to go. Congrats we loved weekend getaways when the kids were younger. There all in there 30's now. They grow up so fast. Start them fishing when there young too. BigBill

Ok above the sight line is where you can see the spinner bait but the fish can see you too the speed your reeling it is fast keeping the spinner bait above the sightlines. When you slow it down it goes below the sight line right were the fish are located. If the bass are more aggressive thell strike above the sight line. If there less aggressive thell hit below the sight line when you put the spinner bait in there face. That's a reaction strike. Speed is the key as to where the spinner bait runs at what depth. If you hold the rod up at 12o'clock and reel it while adjusting the speed your spinner bait will run on top with the blade slapping right and left looking for topwater action.

Come on guys I figured I get more truth about this reel wether it's bad or good. I'm a big guy I can handle the truth. I just beat to a different drum I like different stuff.

After Christmas we'll talk about a better rod for it. Right now I'll put it on a rod here.

There on sale at, my fishing goods. com Every piece of new fishing equipment says made in China. Go back a few years and some of it says made in Korea. I have older Garcia reels I'm not sure where they were made but my d.a.m. quick reels say made in Germany. Sleezebay has tons of different brands of spinning reels, baitcaster reels and tackle there. First it was a few items now we're being invaded. The chinese akuna lures were 5 lures for $4 & $5 with free ship. Now there 1 or 2 for $3.49+ I guess there learning the American enterprise system. My $1.40+ $23 ship baitcaster ( Chinese) is still only $29 + $6 ship. They do come in right and left hand. I may get one for parts.Funny they can't speak our language but they learn the color green of our dollar really quick. I guess my people from the old country learned quick too but no one was watching them. Someday the Chinese fishing equipment will be the top of the line. I have to say the bait caster in there already for the price. The spinning reels aren't bad but some need help yet.

RW, yes I know but I have many new rods that I'll never use and I'm sure I'm not alone. I also purchased the tackle the storm jigs from Mike too. I just want to give back for the kids. I'm slow because I'm still disabled but I'll getter done. I was in the room today. I'm sorry it's taking me so long to put it all together but I'll give more tackle in the end. I have 15+ years of buying stuff to sort out it's all new. I never drank or smoked so this is that money I used for fishing stuff I'd like to donate it now to the right cause. They do offer more expensive models of the supercharger I believe. I'm not sure how many different brands of the baitcasters I purchased so far but it's going to be fun using them all.

The line leveler on the bait caster operates like a see/saw that's what caught my eye it's different. I looked at the spinning reels with there larger diameter spools. I guess the US Reel company is going in the direction of making longer casts. Maybe there's something to these reels.

Fishing if it was easy it wouldn't be called fishing. Just fish it and fish it harder........... I never try to figure out my misses I just go with the flow day to day and the bass are no different. I just ordered a brand new US Reel 800 SX Hibdon super cast model. It has a unique line leveler that's suppose to make longer casts. I'm thinking if it's a good reel I may go for the better model. I never hear it mentioned here? I figured for just $79 its worth a try. I did read one post on the tackle tour. I guess it's made in the USA. And it may need an upgrade to super tune it.

For 4/0 weighted worm hooks mister twister has them on clearance right now there $0.50 a package I think the weight is 3/32-4/0 hook.

I haven't fished really heavy in the fall till now. So far my bomber crankbaits are working and the mepps spinner minnow. In the past fall in late November the YUM Money minnow gets there attention. I use the slow dying minnow twitch while using the yum money minnow. I twitch it and let it go any way it wants too slowly until it stops, then repeat. Moving it slow is the key after all its dying.

My tackle room looks like it was turned upside down then set upright again. One of my problems is I have too many new fishing rods I'll probably never use. I been wanting to help kids in someway. Then Mike Siebert/Glenn here mentioned "tackle the storm". I contacted them and they put a fishing rod in every child's hands who lost everything here to a disaster. I can't think of a better way to give back to this sport than helping a the upcoming future fishermen and fisherwomen of America. I ask you if you have a new rod or a rod that's in New condition that you have sitting in your way that you may not need why not donate it to "Tackle the Storm" this is a great foundation to support were helping our own people all around our country in time of need. Giving someone a fishing rod setup is a gift that never stops giving. I'm sure that everyone has something to donate if you can. I talked with the tackle the storm people and they said they be happy to get what ever you have to support the cause. I'm going to support this foundation too. They can use are help. Being an Ex-auto mechanic and working under dash boards with either hand I'm as good with both hands pretty much equally when it comes to the cranking of the baitcasting reels. I'm not so equally talented with the cranking of the spinning reels. With the availability of the right and left hand baitcasting reels I been wondering which one is more desired???? Baitcasting Reel. Right hand? Or Left Hand? Or it doesn't matter you can use both. I do notice some fishermen casting with there right hand only then crank with there left hand on TV. I can crank baitcasters with either hand but I cast with my right hand. With spinning reels I crank with my left hand and cast with my right hand.

I spell things correctly but by the time I post it my spell check on my kindle hd fire messes it up. It's not hunting season here yet so I can't 12ga the kindle yet. One of these days, kindle. It changes baitcasters to broadcasters every time.etc.

I just received the new gears for my line leveler for my quantum code red bait caster reel and I received the correct parts. This reel was brand new at 50% off the list price. It needed a new pinion gear but I replaced the pinion gear and the driven gear. It was under $2 for the parts but I ordered extra gears and the C clips.

Think about some little kid with a zebco outfit using a bobber with a night crawler could catch a new world record LMB. Then watch the sales of the spin cast equipment soar. I never had one problem with a spin cast reel other than wearing them out from freshwater and saltwater use.
