I been casting out the 9" castiac rainbow trout lure when no other fisherman are around using saltwater tackle. It swims so perfect that I feel like biting it when I haven't caught anything yet. But time will tell next month it will get its annual bath again. I also use a steel leader with it. We also have big toothy critters here too pickerel/pike.

I purchased all the colors of them and there in my weedless tackle box. There hard to find too not everyone offers them.

I use an ultra-lite spinning rod with 4lb test. I like the 1/8 oz worsens inline spinners silver blade with a white body and a white bucktail. Or the mepps 00 inline spinners work too just reel them fast enough to make the blade spin. Joe's flys in his short striker spin fly works great they like the blackgnat. I like trout fishing but it's easy sometimes when I fish a hole or a backwash I can limit out right away. It's very hard to fish for trout without my mentor, my older brother since he passed away. We fished every opening day of the season on. It's been over ten years now and I still miss him. My point is if you have a fishing partner enjoy the time and laughs you spend together before you know it it's gone. I fish with my kids now. My daughter catches more trout than my boys and I do. She is quite the fisherman.

I hope it's not a bad tic season, I been hoping the numbers of them would be down due to all the rain we had. Bill

I was thinking the culprit worms were being discontinued but there just sold out because there a hot bait. I went to the culprit website to find all the worm color and sizes I wanted. Thank God another one of my favorite baits didn't get discontinued this year. . I find a lot of my hotter crankbait colors sold out lately. The Bomber Fat A's were discontinued in the older colors. I been scrambling to purchase what I could of the Fat A's in all the discontinued colors. Every time it's slow I put on a Bomber Fat A and I get action most of the time. This tells me the older colors still work and catch fish. . I contacted one lure manufacturer about discontinuing certain model of there lures and they said when the demand and sales drop off they will discontinue it. That's like pulling the rug out from under me when I lose such a hot fish catching lure.

The tics have just come out this past weekend. So check yourselves if your fishing from shore or go for hikes. Check your pets too. Here in the northeast the little tics carry Lyme disease. I noticed last year we had little reddish tics and little black tics with white spots on them. These are the bad ones for Lyme disease. Make sure you check for tics often in the spring and fall.

There from Finland I think there worth a try. There made from balsa wood too. . Some of the Chinese lures look great in person. There are different finishes on them too some have the bass pro shops line of lures to there look. They do have rattles. I have many of them to try out soon. I'm sure I need a pliers to correct how they run. With that said I would expect a higher quality from the Finnish lures. Didn't the rapalas come from Finland at onetime? I don't care where the lures come from if they catch fish there ok with me. Just look at all the new lures, rods and reels to see where there from lately. But keep in mind it's our manufacturing processes and knowledge that put them in the fishing equipment manufacturing today. I'm sure most of it started here in the USA. . I like trying different fishing stuff. Bb

X2 I been using the Norman thin "n" crankbaits. The chartreuse killer is a bass killer just cast it out and twitch it. They try to rip it off my line. I also use the Norman "fat boy" crankbaits. If you search for them there is s website that have the fatboys on sale. Sales are awesome we get to purchase more for less. Bill

A few years back we had a winter kill. There were large bass frozen in the ice all over the place. It's mother nature's way of limiting the numbers of bass in one body of water. Our governments survey about what size bass we could eat to keep the population of bass up. They said to eat the smaller bass.

I think that balancing a spinning rod setup is very important. If you search for it a lot of good info comes up. Bill

White grubs, when I was logging firewood in business, we were splitting older red oak logs. I seen very large, like my finger diameter holes in the wood. I found 4" long white grubs in the wood. So grubs is grubs plastic that is. White seems to be a hot color. The skirt on my spinner bait, I like to use the blue glimmer. But you maybe right on the brighter white for a shad color. I just ordered bomber cranks in white and culprit worms today in white too. I haven't thrown too many different worm colors besides green shad, black shad, black, electric blue and red shad. Like I said before I get hooked for too long on what works rather than try different colors than what I been using in plastic baits. I throw more different colored cranks

I found a quantum Bill Dance low profile baitcaster, a quantum low profile baitcaster I'm not sure of the model right now and a small low profile Shakespeare alpha baitcaster also. I'm still browsing anyway. I'd like two of the razor rods for spincast reels for the wife and her girlfriend who are both interested in going fishing with me. I'm thinking two more razor rods with baitcasters. If the women want to fish with me that's ok too. I figure it will be panfishing first.

I use the Colorado blade single, or a Colorado/Indiana blade, double. I use a grub trailer with YUM scent. The days I find it doesn't work is when I read the water conditions wrong. I was throwing my white glimmer spinner bait when I should of been using my chartreuse color that I left home. My new quick fish on the fly tackle box just isn't working out. I need to carry more tackle. But the water was muddy and I put on a citrus colored bomber crankbait and it caught fish. We need to read the water conditions and match the lure color to the water conditions. When we aren't catching fish we need to get back to basics.

I upgraded with Quantum spinning reels and never had a problem with any of them. Right Now I'm using the Finor and Okuma spinning reels. Quality wise I think there equal to anything in there price range. The Finor people also manufacture those larger gold salt water reels too. I still have and use my quantum too.

That's what I'm thinking if we used the solid black worm split shot rigged with success then the solid black senko type stick bait should work too. It makes sense to me. When I seen that mister twister offers the black neon in the comida(MT senko) it got me thinking.

Having the internet, this sight and a few other forums got me though all of this with the help of our creator. I stayed positive though it all. That's how you have to be stitch. It's been a very rough ride for some of us due to storms. Last October it was the freak snow storm. I had my winter snowplowing gas supply all filled up, my gas engine Hobart welder with 4k watts ready to go and my 4x4 jeep tractor just tuned up. I was ready with all my firewood near the house too. We had the freezer filled and the canned goods stocked up too. I purchased two swedish propane camping cook stoves two years ago. I'm lucky I was ready. We had no power for 7 days. Some had no power for up to two weeks. With all this silly talk of the end of life as we know it I been stocked up and,ready for anything. My next thing is a backup solar 12volt system. But with some disasters some have no house. That has to be the toughest thing to lose. I feel not dying is the most important thing. Material things can be replaced as with lives they can't be replaced. I can't imagine there pain that they go threw.

So far for me the black shad, electric blue and the green shad have been productive but i haven't tried the other colors yet. I think since the fall season actually starts on 9/22 Sunday and the fall bite is on I my throw some 12"/10" culprits next.

Sorry for the dumb question again. I'm thinking if the black plastic worms work so good why not try the black senko's? Or has anyone tried them already?? I'm thinking they just maybe hot as the black plastic worms too. Mister Twister has there comida (MT Senko Type bait) in black in there discounted section.

I had an hour to go fishing today at a new place I haven't quite figured out yet. I was fishing in the shade watching the water boiling up with minnows about three to four feet behind my lure. I had my polarized glasses on but saw nothing following my lure. The water conditions was muddy. But the way the minnows were jumping out of the water a predator was in my area. I changed from a spinner bait to a topwater but then I put on the bomber lime colored crankbait. I caught my predator a foot from shore. It was an 18" pickerel. I never had a fish inhale a lure so deep. He took it in by the bill/head end first. The first treble was in his gills. The second treble was in backwards in his lip. He could actually close his mouth shut. While using my new long hook removing pliers he even tried to bite me a few times. He was a scrappy fish. I finally got the lure out without hurting him. He's free swimming again. But my point is I missed reading the water conditions and wasted time for nothing. But after the predator was caught the whole place quieted down. This fish was swimming a 50' circle attacking anything that moved. He had all the baitfish on there tails out of the water. I used no scents today. So what do you think about switching colors and lures till something catches fish? Bigbill I have to laugh at this spot. They stock it with trout. But no one knows there is a great northern pike eating there trout!!!!!

Crank the drag all the way down no way never. I was just thinking about were to set my drag as a starting point. But I don't want to hear the drag on the hook set so it can be a fine line between a drag set too tight or too loose. Maybe hearing a little drag is ok at first. I use copolymer line. I'm not sure what the guys do who are using braid.

I just ordered two more. My wife and her co-worker want to go fishing. I figure I could put two zebco ultra lite spincasts on them. I figure some nightcrawlers would teach what fishing is all about. I also have some 1" mister twister grubs in a milktruese color along with a rattle bobber for crappies too. I hope they get hooked on fishing. I wasn't sure if this razor tip rod could handle the bigger bass or not. I hope it can, I may purchase more of these rods.

Anyone fishing at lake Soar, Lilly? Or Bantam? How's the bass and pike fishing? Does anyone fish the upper housy for bass and pike above the covered bridge in Cornwall? How about the fishing at Lakeville? Wono...I can't spell it but it fishes really great.

Prayers are sent, a power house of good faith goes out for you and your support group. Listen to your cancer doctors and nurses if not sure what to do ask questions. I had prostate cancer and I asked plenty of questions. My advice is don't over do it. Get plenty of rest. You need your strength to beat this thing. Stay positive that's the way to beat it. Don't let it get you down. I stayed focused the whole time about beating it. Modern medicine is amazing. I put myself in the hands of the cancer doctor and God. Trust me you will make it. God bless you. Don't sweat the little things. Get your reels out and clean and lube them. Use this time to get ready for fishing. Clean your tackle boxes. Make a list on what you need to get for fishing. Keep busy that's what I did too. Then your ready for fishing.

I tried spray painting some lures using the model lacquer paints. I figure I can seal them with the clear lacquer spray paint. Two or three coats of clear should seal them. Tpreperation of the lures surface is very important so the new paint will adhere to the lures old finish. I took some brand new lures and removed the split rings and the hooks. Then I took some fine sand paper to rough up the old finish. Once I removed the old finish I then used the 0000 fine steelwool to smooth the rough clean surface to prep it for painting. After the painting is done and dry I then clear coat it. I'm just not sure how long the finish will last. When Terry Clark redid the finish on my lures he dipped them in clear epoxy or sprayed them. It appears to be a very hard finish. His work looks so awesome I hate to use them. I feel like framing Terry's work and hanging it in my man cave on the wall. It looks like fishing lure art work.
