Maybe it's less drag on the boat when these streamlined baitcasters are on the deck when the boat is moving. But the front of these new baitcasters do resemble the front ends of the hondas, subarus and Nissan cars. The American cars too now.

I did notice yesterday while fishing in the shaded area my dark green glasses are too dark in the shade. This means we need more than one pair for the different lighting conditions, like the cloudy, sunny, shady conditions and the different water conditions. Yesterday I had a multiple lighting conditions plus the water was stained. Plus I was fishing in the shaded area. I'm a lure watcher more than anything else. Try to watch behind my lure as much as I can to see what the fish are doing. I'm watching for the short strikes. I think we need a dark green color and an Amber colored polarized glasses. I'm sure the pros here can tell us for sure. Maybe tv'sll chime in. Bigbill

Have you noticed the new low profile bait caster reels in the front look similar to the new front ends on our cars?

That's what I'm talking about they should of answered me by now. Being a retired lead engineering tech for Otis Elevator World wide engineering headquarters when my son's Kawasaki dirtbike kept on blowing the needle bearing on one of the transmission shafts. I noticed the thrust washer was covering the needle bearing stopping the oil flow to it. It would heat up and decintergrate. I contacted Kawasaki engineering and made them aware of the problem under severe use(racing hare scrambles) this failure would occur. I even gave them the solution on how to fix it. They needed to put oil grooves in the side of the case so they could feed oil to the bearing. I did this on my son's bike and we haven't had a problem since. The people at Kawasaki seemed very interested in the problem. They returned my emails right away. All I'm saying is some companies care and some don't but my previous work title does open up doors and get there attention. Bigbill

Do you guys and gals buy reel parts from the manufacturer? I have an older Shakespeare bait caster reel that needs one of the long thumb screws many models use this same screw. I contacted Shakespeare to see if I could purchase this screw. I purchased this reel brand new but the screw is missing. It's been a week now with no answer yet. Even a response of sorry it's too old would be ok. But no response at all tells me they could care less. What if I had a problem with a brand new product of there's. I'd be rippin if I had a new Shakespeare reel and received no answer from them. They don't think about the world wide web uniting all us fisherman and fisherwomen now? So do you purchase reel parts from your manufacturer? And who is it? The only companies I dealt with so far are Zebco, Penn and D.A.M. Quick for reel parts and they were awesome to deal with. I figured that Shakespeare being a big company would be ok to deal with but not even a return email. Sad isn't it? Bigbill

We ran into this with the dirtbike axle bearings some had less grease in them. With these larger sealed ball bearings that have the black plastic seals we would carefully open them up, add more grease and carefully pop the seal back in without damaging it. I notice the ball bearings in fishing reels appear to be shielded. But I'm not sure if we can shoot grease in them or not yet. But having more grease in them could make them stiffer for a while. But they will loosen up as the grease moves to the sides. I wonder if a small hypodermic needle could shoot oil into them? I use a larger hypodermic needle with the needle removed for living the reel gears and shafts. It's much cleaner for shooting the only grease into the areas. Bb

This fall will be ok using jigs but next season will be awesome I get to fish the whole season. I'm ready now. I have most of the ice fishing equipment and tried it a few times with no success. Then I was told they do more eaten and drinking than fishing. I can understand and could handle some kielbasa and Kraut plus some hot chocolate or hot coffee too on the ice between fishing.

I'm up near the $99 reels now. We'll see when the code red bait caster gets here. But so far my smoothest is the BPS bait caster I think it was $59 on clearance. The Chinese imports seem good too. I think there prices won't be so cheap for long. There is no way they can continue to manufacture them for $29 plus 5 for shipping. I really haven't seen any bad reels between my discounted $12 Shakespeare to my on clearance BPS bait caster they all seem to function ok. I think the biggest difference is longevity and the amount of bearings it has besides the angle on the gear teeth. All the crank gears are metal so far. Right now I think a decent bait caster for the average fisherman starts between $40 to $99. Watch for the sales and clearances too. Some places are having a Halloween sale too which isn't too bad. I just purchased two rod/reel setups that the reels lite up when you crank them for Christmas. By spring he should be ok to use them with some help. Fishandsave has them in spinning and In a spincast reel too there a roddy brand.

Your right some leaves are turning colors while other leaves are falling already. The fall bite has started. Good info on a good top water lure. Yup it's in my tackle box too. Again me/we get into a rut and I don't try everything as much as I should. I need to switch to different brands of topwater lures more often. I tend to throw one lure way too often. I will throw your lure asap.

I would like to get all the fisherwomen involved here? Ok do you use a spinning reel or a bait casting reel? Bigbill

Oh us she has the bait monkey on her back already. Every time she sees me with something new she has to have it too. This is why I purchase more than one new lure.

I think tomorrow is my day 1 of fall bass fishing. It's up at 3:30am and on the shore before first light. I'll start off with topwater in the dark, then cranks, then spinnerbaits as it gets lighter I'll bust the deeper weeds with swim jigs figuring the bass will move there as it gets lighter. I might try some froggin around the Lilly pads too. I hope I can hook up with the big gals when there still near the shore line. At around 9am I'm heading home. I'll be fishing 24/7 for as long as I can. I hit the open water near the weeds first. Today the weeds appear to be submerged that could be a plus. I really enjoy watching the night turn to day. What a wonderful world we live in. A fisherman or fisherwoman has the best workplace other than a logger I've done both.

I notice the beaver we're too busy repearing there dam. But they did take breaks to slap there tails in front of us. Besides the beavers we also have freshwater otters at twilite before first light. Then there gone as it gets lighter. The word last year was they were going to bring in a professional trapper to remove the beavers. This morning I didn't see a one. We do catch bass when the beavers are around if they stay away from where we're fishing. But it's the snapping turtles that shut the place down. The second a turtle pops it head up the fishing is over.

I was late for a doctor's appointment that's near one of my hot spots. I left my tackle at home ready to go. But I still had my trout rod and tackle box in the car from the spring. I casted some lures but the mepps inline spinner was getting short strikes until I slowed it up. I landed even with a ultra lite spinning outfit and 4lb test a fisty 1 1/2 fatty little porker of a large mouth bass in the shaded area at 10:30am. That's way beyond my favorite fishing time. Of course things went down hill when the line on the spinning reel knotted up like a bait caster. I then left but in a few casts it felt good to know I still have the touch. My confidence is back. It was an awesome fight on light tackle. I learned a lesson today. Do any of you guys or gals have a extra rod setup in your car? Now I'm thinking after today to carry a rod setup and some lures too.

When my son's were at my camp in vt they had a BB gun to shoot. When I grew up I had twin cap pistols with the twin holsters. My older brothers had those BB gun battles in the woods too. I also had the Dinky Toy trucks and cars plus the smaller matchbox cars and trucks. I never seen the Dinky Toys till the net and eBay. If you go there and look at the dinky toys these are what I grew up with in the mid/late 50's. I just purchased many of these for my 3yo grandson so he can play and grow up with them too.

I just picked up a FLW shirt. It has FLW OUTDOORS down each sleeve(long sleeves). It's white with black letters. I never seen a shirt like this?

Ok fisherwomen what's your favorite lure?

I just received my three orders from him. I just took each one out of the package and looked at it. They look great. I think I have seven or eight more orders coming yet. I'm going to hammer jigs and my bait caster setup till the ice is on.

What a shocker?

Well I ordered over 50 of Mike's awesome jigs. I'm going to use them to bust the weeds first. I have the perfect situation for using swim jigs. Nobody uses jigs in these smaller bodies of water. Knowing how the bottom is laid out using a casted out portable fish finder to see the flats, dropoffs, holes is a big plus on how to fish it. I haven't used it to locate fish yet. I stand in front of the drop off and can cast to the flats, dropoffs and hit the deeper holes. Shore fishing isn't hard once were sure of the bottom layout. I have a gutt feeling that jig fishing is going to be very successful from shore.

One package showed up and they look great. I can't wait to get them wet. They are awesome. Thanks Mike. Bill I just ordered more swim jigs lastnite.
