  1. Hey BDB, welcome to Bass Resource!
  2. While we don't have ccl's in WI yet, my neighbor has carried for many years and it has paid off twice. Both times in the late 70's. Once when him and his son returned to the launch on a secluded northern lake they were met by two guys with a shotgun and meaning to rob them. Tom was able to bring his Ruger 41 mag. to bear and hold them until his dad was able to trailer the boat. Another time, again on a secluded northern lake they were met at the launch by a group of (unarmed)native americans looking to do them bodily harm. Again Tom used his Ruger to keep them at bay while his dad trailered the boat. This was back when spearing was a very hot and intense topic.
  3. I dunno G_P, sounds like just another day in my neck of the woods. ;D
  4. I'm hopeful. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. I know it's been a bad few months for several of us but I guarantee all new comers, especially those who are hesitant, that you'll be able to forget your troubles and be happy for a few days. If you've met 'em here I'll swear that it is twice as much fun meeting them in person! 8-)
  5. You mean one hour episodes with 30 minutes of recap?
  6. I would say that you would want 7' rods and probably one with a moderate or medium action and one with a faster action. Lightning Rods are a good rod without spending a lot of money. Many will say that for some extra money there is always something better. You need to know what you are willing to spend on a rod and then get specific with it. Is the Lightning Rod in the price range you want to stay with or would you look at a $60, $100, or a $150 rod. Answer this question and it will help in showing you what kind of rods would serve your purpose. Knowing what the gear ratio is on each reel and what you intend on fishing for will be a big help in what size and type of line you may want as well as fitting a rod to the reel.
  7. You could match them with just about anything you want. As far as line weight, I would say anything from 10-14. Have you fished at all with a baitcaster? What will be your primary baits for the setups? Live bait, cranks, soft plastics, it all plays into what you will need. Add some more detail and others will help.
  8. Had a stroke while off loading: http://www.tmz.com/2010/02/01/phil-harris-deadliest-catch-surgery-stroke/3#comments
  9. Back in the early and mid eighties I also shot for our yearbook. Always had a Canon AE1 in hand loaded with b/w 400. It was cool back then as we developed our own.
  10. Just looked at your Jeep, wow the mileage isn't bad!
  11. The last 2 cars I bought were after I googled the specific models/years and found absolutely every good and bad review I could. The one thing I needed to sort through was the minor stuff that people sometimes nit pick on. When coming to negative reviews, stay open minded to the cosmetic complaints and be more concerned with suspension, engine and electrical issues that reviewers address. When looking for used it's going to be hard to find exactly what you want, but if you don't expect the world out of a used vehicle and concentrate on it's track record for mileage and durability, you'll do good. Use search words like problems, likes, dislikes, issues and reviews. You'll find tons. Good luck!
  12. I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious! VL
  13. Read this and "the related articles" at the bottom of the page. It should get you a good start. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/flipping_pitching.html

  21. Guys, don't be blaming this on Bass Resource. You've always had it in you. You knew it and we knew it, all you needed to do was to admit it to yourself! ;D
  22. Yes Jake, we "unfreeze" at the end of March into early April.
