Any good fishing jokes
Sam and his buddies were hanging out and planning an upcoming fishing trip. Unfortunately, he had to tell them that he couldn't go this time because his wife wouldn't let him. After a lot of teasing and name calling, Sam headed home frustrated. The following week when Sam's buddies arrived at the lake to set up camp, they were shocked to see Sam. He was already sitting at the campground with a cold beer, swag rolled out, fishing rod in hand, and a camp fire glowing. "How did you talk your missus into letting you go Sam?" "I didn't have to," Sam replied. "Last week when I left our meeting, I went home and slumped down in my chair with a beer to drown my sorrows. Then the ol' lady snuck up behind me and covered my eyes and said, 'Surprise'." =0 A "When I peeled her hands back she was standing there in a beautiful see through negligee and she said, ' Carry me into the bedroom and tie me to the bed and you can do whatever you want'......SO HERE I AM!" Question concerning side imaging
A friend of mine has one of the hummingbird side imaging mounted on his bow with the trolling motor. we havent been able to see anything that even remotely looks like the pics in the ads, no matter what structure we go over top of. He had a fellow tell him to mount it on the console because they read better at 3-4 mph. Just wondering if there is any truth to that? I know a few of you guys have them and would like to hear some advice on using it and little quirks you may have found. Thanks. Cyas, D

I found out the wrong way..
Haha, that made me think about the time I went to practice walking the dog with my brand new Luckycraft Sammy( I got three of them in various colors) and tied my loop knot which I had practiced tying a few times, cast it out and it sailed pretty far out and hit the water. Now this wouldnt have been quite so bad, since they float, but I was bank fishing. I spent a half an hour using other floating baits trying to "hook" the sammy. I also hit a laydown with it once while bank fishing and got snagged. I looked around, stripped to my underwear and went in the lake for the lure. I will not lose a 15 dollar lure to a laydown, I will go in after it.....lol. My girlfriend and a buddy of mine were with me, they just shook their heads and then proceeded to video me with a phone. Ahhh good times. Cyas, D

Snakehead Fish....
oh, if I find one, they will get a call......a call to come pick up a snakehead fish corpse. Why people have to introduce invasive species like this is beyond me. Death to all snakeheads......at least the ones here.....lol. Cyas, D

Flipping Into Cover?
I cannot believe someone hasnt said anything about what type/color of trailer you used yet. I wouldnt have believed this if I hadnt seen it with my own eyes but I swear to you, next time you are using a black/blue jig setup and aernt getting a bite on your basically matched up jig and trailer, take off the blue one and put on a flippin blue or electric blue trailer. Sometimes it doesnt make a difference, because they may just not want a jig, but I have actually had several times when I changed nothing but the trailer to an electric blue color and then whack, whack, whack.......... You get the idea. There is one time I even used a green pumpkin jig and put a electric blue colored trailer on it and started getting bit. Bass are weirdos sometimes. Cyas, D

How would you fish this scenario?
Yes, I definately would be throwing a buzzbait first thing. I love those things. ;D Depending on the time of year, I would be varying speeds till I got some action. It sounded like you avoid casting into the wind, if not then forgive me for misreading, but I would suck it up and be doing some serious casting into the wind. Any baitfish at all will be blown with the wind and thus, your motion baits look all the more real to the fish when they are swimming with the current instead of against it or sideways thru it. You will still get bites that way, but I noticed when I started casting into the wind(which I despise)I started picking up more fish and the quality got a bit better too. Dont know if that was just a fluke or what, but I let em talk to me.....haha. Cyas, D

Cool, Raul. Now, forgive me for being dense here, but is the oxbow the circle in the middle of the pic, where the river bends in almost a complete circle or is it the short strip just below that shaped like a light crescent? Sorry to be difficult, I just wanna make absolutely sure I got it. Cyas, D

what to use in muddy water?
You know, a buddy of mine fished a few BASS opens last year, one of them being on Red RIver in Louisiana. He got there, saw the muddy water and thought, I am gonna need dark and chartreuse colors and noisy, noisy, noisy. Got out the first day and he said almost every person he saw fishing the tourney had brilliant white, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits tied on. To me, according to everything I have ever heard and read, this goes completely against the grain. But it worked, I wouldnt have believed it if he hadnt told me, but using white in that muddy water worked. I would have thought that at the very least the white wouldnt work well because EVERYONE was using it and from what others told him, that is a common thing there, compared to him using a black and chartreuse War Eagle spinner bait with a big ole chartreuse colorado blade. Being different than the standard used, I figured he would have a chance of just killing them fish but nothing. Switching to white the second day made all the difference. Cyas, D

Totally off this subject....bassinri....ROFL at the dog in your avatar.....hahahahahahahahaha. How in the hell did you get him to lay like that? Back on subject....Oxbow is the one I was totally lost on.I dont do much river fishing and it sounds like it relates to something on a river. And I still dont know for sure if I get it totally. I guess its better to see one than to have someone try and tell you about it. Cyas, D

Charlie Moore TV
Yea, I guess thats true man. I just always like the guys who clown a lot while out there fishing. When me and my buddy Jude go fishing, its a laugh a minute. We clown nonstop(we are safe on the water, mind you, safety first)and I cant imagine not being able to have that fun while at the same time chasing those green beauties around. It just wouldnt be the same. We have even talked about taking my girlfriend along to film and doing a public access show and all that. I guess I would have people reacting the same way to us in some respects....lol. Long live fun on the water, cuz without it, this sport is dead. Cyas, D

Getting what you pay for.......
Yea, Raul, I guess it just doesnt fall in my budget to spend that much on a rig. I have about 8 rods and reels that I can use when fishing, some good, some not so good. My most recent was putting a 5:4:1 Clunn BPS signature reel on a 7 1/2 foot BPS crankin stick. I am thrilled with how it performs and do love using it. Just......wow to the Daiwa Zillions. I dont know how their other reels perform but good lord, this reel was like the chosen one.....lol. I even backlashed it once trying for that garbage can and the backlash came out easy.....lol. There was nothing tough at all about using it. I have been fishing a little less here of late but used to go almost every day so thats why the walmart specials broke down on me, I know that(I will say this, the two that lasted me were the 2 shakespeares that I bought as my first two reels and they still work now and show no signs of giving in. I am surprised at their quality). I get the tool example, worked a lot of carpentry jobs and drywall and now doing welding, so the tool thing I can totally relate to. Thanks guys for letting me whine....haha. Cyas, D

Some topographic definitions
Ok, I thought it might be cool to hear what others define as what, as far as topo definitions go. To you, what is(in a little detail please): A main lake point? A secondary point? A tributary creek? A pocket? A creek arm? An oxbow? A ledge(crashing ledges with a jig)? An offshore hump? A drop off? Of course some of these are probably simpler than others and wont require too much in the explanation department. I know some of these and others I am a little lost on and a couple I am totally lost on....lol. The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked though? So enlighten me folks and hopefully others as they read this. If you can think of one I missed that may be important, then please, feel free to add them. Cyas, D

Getting what you pay for.......
Ok, when I started out bass fishing, I bought a few wally world specials, 2 of them I still use and they perform great, 2 of them broke quickly and one is on the way to joining them. Pinnacle, I had heard that name for years in fishing, guess they make a cheapo line for walmart or something...lol. Any rate, before those reels broke, I bought my first "good" reel, a JMP10H when BPS had their special run on them a while back.( I shoulda bought about 6 of them, in hindsight) Best running reel I have ever used...... Until Sunday. A friend of mine and his brother had the brothers boat out on a small lake I live next to and they called me to see if I wanted to putter around a bit. Of course, I said yea and off we went. At the end of it, I remarked how I was wondering what those Carrot Sticks were like, as he had one. A 7 1/2 foot medium action carrot stick with a Daiwa Zillion reel on it. I flipped it once, when he offered to let me, as we stood on the parking area to the side of the ramp. Climbed up on his boat and flipped it out into the adjacent grass and WHOA!!!, it was like butter. I swear to ya, I decided to try something, so I turned towards the trash can about 15 to 20 yards away and let loose with a very aggressive flip. It fell just about a half a foot shy of the trash can, pitching a 3/8 ounce jig. I am decent at flipping now, but I was flabbergasted. None of my reels, no matter how well taken care of and oiled will do that....NONE. I guess it holds true unfotunately that to get that quality you better be buying like a tourney pro. How can anyone but a pro justify a 400 dollar rig? Just one?!?! Just thought I'd whine a bit....lol. I am jealous now and I want one of those reels. Cyas, D

Charlie Moore TV
Jeez, first I cannot even believe this is still around....lol. Second, I cannot believe how people react to that man. I personally like the show, only shows I like better are day on the lake and WGFS(but without Zona, it would suck) Thing is, they ALL must film like 4 episodes for a new seaon.... I mean, seriously, how stupid is it to have 4 new episodes and then nothing for months.....ESPN seems to not do a good job at all keeping fresh content for fishing on its network. I guess you have to be able to dribble a ball or pass a piece of leather downfield to get any REAL attention. I have, in the last few weeks, decided pretty much to not even bother watchin anymore. Not worth my time to get up and then sit half the morning on a couch hoping for something new. Before you down the guy for not being the kind of entertainment you enjoy, just change the channel, theres a lot of shows I dont like on TV and I just pick up the clicker when they come on. Better yet, dont be at home when his show is on, shouldnt you be half way down a lake by that time with your hook buried in a log or something.....lol. Cyas, D

why do they do this
Ummmm, not sure, but I think maybe he may want a little more indepth explanation as to the reasons a bass would follow a lure back and NOT BITE. I am just venturing a guess here, but I think he may have left that part out. I'm gonna say plain ole curiosity, then at some point the eat or dont eat decision comes for the bass and he/she opts out because.....well, once bitten twice shy. Bass are not stupid, they learn thru repeated stings not to shake the hornet nest. ;D Hope that helps ya. Cyas, D

you obviously aren't like him since your holding up a hog (in your picture) and Moore can barely catch 4 pounders. I feel bad now, the one in my pic is only 4.1 :'( Cyas, D

Four legged fishing buddies
See I knew that a lot of guys took their dogs out with em. Great looking buncha hounds if I do say so myself. What was the deal with that one hound that had the colored feather boas and stuff? What kinda hound is he? ;D The one time I have braved taking my boy out since he was a pup, we went to rough river and it took me forever to get him in the water. I think he would do so much better if I got him a doggie vest. Cyas, D

what the heck is this??
that my friend would be the infamous Kentucky Spotted Bass. They are a member of the black bass family if I am not mistaken and they will give you a much better fight than a largemouth. Similar in aggressiveness to a smally. Just an aside, they have made a new hybrid, or so I have heard, from a spot and a smally mated. Call it a meanmouth or something like that. Hope this answers your question tho bro. Cyas, D
