  1. I called the number and there was a message saying all gone, so I was and would hope that adds some legitimacy to it, but if its a hoax, then > >. Not happy at all about that.
  2. Does Cedar have a public ramp? Its not listed on the MA fisheries site.
  3. Lake is very deep and clear. Some nice trout fishing and lots of small largemouths. Lots of pan fish also. If you're going to take a yak out there I would definitely recommend going out very early. This time of year the boating traffic really gets crazy after 10am and the ramp does not have alot of parking. Good luck and welcome aboard
  4. Hey guys, Just curious how you guys did this past weekend in Ma. I went out wednesday night on the local pond in tied into a nice 4lbish one off a dock with a senko and one smaller pound an a halfer, but nothing else the rest of the night. Saturday, pops and I hit Long Pond in Sturbridge and spent six hours on the water in the morning and I landed the only one a two pounder on a senko swim tail. Nothing else all day, no bits. Threw everything in the box practically. Seemed others were having the same issue. Wondered if it was us or the weekend weather and the fish.
  5. Big Alum. Anyone know where in Western MA or central where I can get live crayfish, or am I going to drum them up myself? Got some plastics at Bass Pro today, but would love to have some yummy live ones in the arsenal also.
  6. Hey guys, Going to go fish a small pond in central mass this weekend for smalls. Now I'm just returning to fishing after about a ten year hiatus and pretty much have only gone after largemouths in a real weekend warrior manner. Now that I've gotten back into it, trying to read as much as I can and learn even more. I've never fished for smalls, so what should I be throwing and how. I've heard that crayfish can make up 60% of their diet, does that seem to hold true up here in the north? The pond is about 190 acres with an average depth of about 23' and a couple of holes that are topo'd at 45-50' deep with real clear water. Seems to be some tight breaklines according to the topo. The bottom I'm told does have vegetation, but I cannot imagine there is much once the depth hits 30', but I could be wrong, this is why I ask. I have no idea where to start other than some breaklines, but not sure of what depth and what to throw. Don't know what the northern smallmouths prefer. Any help you guys could lend would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, also supposed to be a good rainbow and browns population in the pond, any suggestions of how to set my girlfriend up so she can catch diner?? I brought home some fresh rainbows that I pulled out of the river last week and she couldn't believe how good they tasted. She's now itching to go out and catch her own! Can't beat that!!
  7. I frequent the Bass Pro in Foxboro and the Cabela's in CT. I have found that the selection in Bass Pro has been better, but the people not as outgoing and a little harder to navigate. Cabela's seems to be better laid out and marked, I tend to find what I'm looking for much quicker at Cabela's and the employees always seem to engage me first, where as at Bass Pro I often have to search for someone and then have to make the first contact.
  8. Wow, How about that respect of nature out of sportsman. Wonder why we take so much crap from environmentalists and animal rights groups. Why do you hunt and fish? Well, I love the outdoors, being with nature, taking in the beauty of the land and animals, oh hand me those pliers or pull the prop up, gotta make some more beauty. Expect that off a kids forum, not from mostly adults.
  9. Thanks guys, I won't have a boat, so it'd be shore fishing only. I know the pier, been down to it several times in the last couple of times down. The thought of pier fishing though doesn't really entice me. Thanks for the info though.
  10. Easthampton, you're right down the road. I don't have a boat up here so got any suggestions for some decent shore fishing around here? I've seen Hampton Ponds in Westfield, but that's about it. Thanks derek
  11. I'm in Westfield, short trip down the pike. Myself just getting back into fishing after a couple year break. Haven't done any fishing out here in western, ma yet. Originally from central ma and still have a boat there. Also a newbie to the boards.
  12. Hey guys, First off I'm a newbie on the forums here and this will be my first post. I'm actually from the Northeast, but next week I'll be vacationing in North Carolina, actually on Oak Island, near Southport. I can't think of a better way to spend some vacation time other than fishing, and I would love the chance to land some of those Carolina largemouths that I hear so much about, the bass up here don't get that big usually. My question is can anyone suggest some places to go within probably an hour drive of the Oak Island area that has some good public access fishing. I will not have my boat, so its either shore casting or if there are any places that do rental. I do have my own gear. Thanks for any info anyone can provide and what a well of knowledge this forum is! derek
