  1. Took the yak out on Burke Lake this evening for a couple hours. Fished the dam and picked up one 15 inch fish on plastic worm. I decided to try some deeper jigging on one of the points when I landed this nice 23 inch bass. She busted my jig on the sweep in about 6 feet of water. I was fishing a blue/black jig with plastic trailer. This was my biggest fish out of Burke Lake this year. Fished another twenty minutes after this but did not get any other bites on the jig. Tight lines to all!
  2. Fished all morning at Beaverdam Creek Reservoir in Ashburn, VA this morning. Water was high and clarity was low due to all the rain. Found it tough finding fish and a consistent pattern but was able to get 5. First fish and biggest of the day went 5-3. Picked up a nice smallmouth by the dam too. Not a bad day but I thought that there would be more up in the weeds feeding. I will be hitting the water again in the morning. Tight lines to all!
  3. Quick intro as this is my first post. I am an active duty military originally from NY and have been a lurker for a while. I mainly fish Burke, Huntsman, and Mercer from my kayak and have been doing so for the last couple years. I have really enjoyed reading the posts from all the NOVA fisherman. Anyway, I thought I would finally contribute and second quanjig's post. The fish are pickerel. I have caught a couple myself in the recent past. Caught a couple out of Burke too. There is no doubt with the pickerel as they have that distinctive black stripe running through their eye. I wish I could say it was a small musky from Burke but it is not the case.
