Ok, guy's I did this before I got answers from ya... I uninstalled Norton, restarted..installed AVG. All is well except for windows firewall.. I went to play poker in FaceBook after turning on windows fire wall. and it would not give me info, but did not freeze up like it use to with Norton.So everything is running faster and better except for a fire wall on? So it seems I should download zone alarm? Man I love this site, and all the help in so many way's I get here...

Ok, Follow up question.... Should I uninstall Norton first, then install AVG? And can someone provide a link to AVG? Or is AVG what njbasser provided?

PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! My Norton Utilities is going to expire in a few days.Norton has just totally slowed down my computer. QUESTION- Is there free ware out there that is better than Mc afee, or close? Is there a free ware that is an all in one package ( spy, anti virus)? Can you get away running your computer naked, if you update windows everyday? Please help, I will not renew my Norton.

To add to your post.Upgrade the rod before the reel.The reel should be fine for a little while,but the rod should be upgraded if you are going to fish more than a couple times a month.

No It's not the best combo..But it will get you by if your a beginner. That reel was my first baitcaster and I learned how to cast baitcasters with it.It was cheap and if anything goes bad on it, you can take it back to walmart.(I gave mine to my nephew). As far as 8# test, I use it all the time for smallmouths at the river,It should be good for ya.We would just need more info on where you are fishing. Clear water? Rocks? Stick ups? Brush?

I guess I should defend myself cause I got slammed for not practicing catch and release, in the post in outings. Lake Mead is trying to thin out the striper. It is unlimited striper under 20'' and twenty over 20''. Striper are taking over the lake and they are trying to thin them out.Yes I practice catch and release with LM and SM bass..

Yes I'am A believer in Catch and release,when it comes to smallmouth and largemouth..There is no limit on striper under 20'' and you can only keep twenty over 20''. They are trying to thin out the striper in Lake Mead. The striper have taken over the lake. All the fish species have been going down in size at Lake Mead due to the striper taking over.I'm just doing my part... Ps..I have only ever eaten two bass in my life one largemouth and one smallmouth.

I have a video of a Bass Classic champion adjusting his Drag after a hook up.Ya he was using 6# test but he recommends to adjust after you have the fish free and in open water with 6# or less.He is also known as one of the best plastics fisherman...I guess it to each their own.

Mike to answer your question I was useing 4'' Grubs. I guess i wasn't Useing a heavy enough weight.But I find when throwing chunk bait, sometimes they like it to slow fall. bass or bass- I bought some of those shads a couple day's ago, but didn't get bit on it yesterday.I would cast it as far as I could, Hand out line to go to the bottom, and reel in really slow with a little jerk changes.Anyways maybe they are not yet that aggressive.I have not seen any boils yet. Here's picks from yesterday's action. All caught on chunk choves.

Nothing big, but was still fun!I let 4 striper go and five Cats! Food for a couple months!

I'm new to the lake mead area..I have been striper fishing a few times here and can do pretty well on cut choves from the shore.I went Tuesday evening and the stripers are starting to get aggressive.My question is,what artificial baits can i use?I have only caught one on a crankbait.I have tried a senko,carolina rig with a fluke, and a grub with a jig head, but nothing seems to catch them.The striper are around two feet off the bottom in 25'-30' ow.Any suggestions are welcome.. I know it seems funny that I want to change methods from what is working, but i like to use artificials, and i already have enough striper for a couple months.

I have put my money where my mouth is... I have bought two new HSTA's since January.I love these reels and also like the older model.Tackle tour gave them a 9/10 rating.The only reason the HSTA did not get a 10, was because The reel is to wide for small hands.It doesn't bother me. Have you thought of a cruise? Mexican riviera is fun,done it twice. Only problem is picking what port you would want to fish out of. Cabo has great fishing, but you have to check how long you will be in that port?
