  1. The last few days, I've been missing hits!! Idk what it is. Idk if the fish just arent hitting my lures hard enough, or the fish are just too small?? I havent changed my setup or anything. It just seems kinda weird. Maybe the fish just arent as active this week?? Anyone else having a problem lately?? :'(
  2. If Berkeley or Yamamoto aint in that bin, LEAVE IT ALONE.
  3. Mepps spinners all the way. They also seem to take liking to 6" blue/ blue flake powerworms...but they WILL hit whatever you throw at em usually!!
  4. Thanks RW.
  5. 1 1/2" Mr. Twisters, Mepps spinners, small jigs, and if all else fails, PLENTY OF BEER. ;D
  6. Thanks man. I am a big fan of the steady retrieve, especially because there is TONS of vegetation here so I try to stay up off the bottom a little bit. I'm gonna throw the swimsenko fist next time I go out and we'll see what we get!!
  7. I just picked up a pack of 5" watermelon with black and red flake swim senkos. I tried putting one on yesterday after they stopped biting on my powerworms. I T-rigged it with a 1/8 oz tungsten bullet and reeled it just like I would a powerworm. It looked pretty good swimming in the water, but I would like to know if you guys have any other techniques for this bait..Thanks!! jvox
  8. Nice one!! Ours are green haha.
  9. Weightless worms are the way to go man!! Texas rig em' with no weight.
  10. That why I use strong line haha. Water around here is 80% veg. hahahahaha. Every bass I catch needs to be fought through a forest!!
  11. 1 1/2" Mr. twister plastics work well. Small jigs and a small mepps spinners will also work well. And of course worms and minnows, but wheres the fun in that?? haha jvox
  12. Find the shade man..It's been 90 or so here in Jersey and I've been catching most of my fish after 7pm. Got one around 2:30 in the afternoon yesterday though. Find the shade and move 6" plastic sloww. Thats what works for me anyway..
  13. I scare way more with my kayak than I catch haha ;D
  14. I agree with RW man. Keep them Gamas tied on and save your money somewhere else.
  15. I'm thinking that it was a pickerel. Especially if you said that it fought like a pickerel. A carp probably wouldve put up a fight that wouldve made you KNOW it was a carp..Either way, go back to that pond dude. And, I'm also from Jersey. I'm always looking for good spots if you care to share!! jvox
  16. Well, It sounds like your gear is set up right, even though I dont like to use saltwater poles(but alot of people do). If the carp are everywhere right now, they might be spawning. They are spawning right now in Jersey, and they aint gonna hit too much during the spawn. Wait a little while and come back and see if the carp activity isnt so high which will probably tell you if they were spawning or not. Oh, and I use a small Gamakatsu circle hook for carp as well. <AND YES, THAT CARP WAS 21LBS 10OZ!!
  17. haha Thats funny that you posted this because I was looking at a pack of striper hooks today that had the beads with no holes. I was gonna use one of the beads for a Texas rig today to go bass fishing and realized there were no holes!!
  18. Thanks alot dude. A LOT of the carp where I fish are big like that. Probably average 15 lbs or so..Pretty nice. Good luck with the carp nad TIGHT LINES!! jvox
  19. d**n dude. The Carp WILL NOT hit during the spawn here in New Jersey. They were still spawning last week, I'm gonna go check em out soon. After the spawn they will be suckin em up though!! Here's a pic of one I got last year.. 21lbs 10oz

A fish wont hit the lure if it's got some grass on it though right?

Alright cool. So I guess I'm not the only one doing this. Thanks!!
  23. Been having some problems myself here in Jersey. Gotta go out before or after the heat man. Caught my first bass last night around 7pm after the sun stopped BEATING. Got em in the shade in the slop and lillys on a weightless plastic worm. Other than that, while the sun is high, I've only seen pickerel and crappie activity.
  24. Ok, so this is my first year fishing with plastic worms. Actually, pretty much my first year not just going for carp haha. I've been fishing plastic worms weightless with decent results, but I always see people talking about fishing them weighted. Will I have much better results if I do put a weight on the end? The main reason I dont do it is because there is alot of vegetation in the waters I fish and i dont want the weight getting caught on all that bullsh*t on the bottom because it's annoying haha. Thanks!! Got this one last night in the weeds with a 10" powerworm and a Gama. G-lock
