  1. Might head out tomorrow as my wife is off of work, and taking the baby to the pool. Worth wading a bit and rock hopping Pony Pasture (walk up river) Did it last year once or twice and didn't have any luck. Suggestions? Checked the water level and it's average at green.
  2. Hey Guys, I know this isn't bass related, but a buddy who is really into saltwater fishing and I took my canoe out of the York River a few weeks ago for some croaker fishing. I had never been, had the time of my life. Was curious if there are any places to rent a boat or something to get out on the York? Thanks in advance.
  3. Will do Simon. Was looking at the yaks but my wife was anti me being out all day alone, like a canoe is that much better! I enjoyed it the first time I got out, had only ever been in a 16ft canoe a handful of times with a friend and the larger ones are def. more stable!
  4. I'm usually down for Sunday's, the only Saturday I have in the next few weeks is May 2nd. I'm a photographer, and it's the busy season.
  5. Hey Guys, Not sure if it's been done before, or something but would anyone be interested in having a little meet up to do some fishing? Possibly a day tournament or something, folks with boats/canoes/yaks can come out, take out those that might need a ride. Any Central Virginia takers?
  6. Took her out for her maiden voyage today after work, almost lost it on 288....Apparently we had an issue securing it. Were on Swift Creek Reservoir for about 2.5 hours, I got a little bass on a yamato worm...Not even worth posting that picture.
  7. Thanks Aluma Just got in with it, 14ft, fairly lightweight. Sears Freestyle? Probably old as crap but it floats!
  8. Well, it's a canoe! Going tonight to pick it up after finding it online, it's ain't the prettiest but for a 14 footer it was the best deal I could find. With a 5 month old baby, and not a whole lot of time to use it or money for a jon boat, I went ahead and made a deal on a canoe. Hell, it's got to be better then fishing from the shore when I do get out. Maybe I'll even get some nice seats for it
  9. I was out there from about 9-1, and I must be the only guy that hit the river this morning and didn't get a single shad. Did get a bass though below the train tracks near that big concrete drain thing. Boats, and yaks out this morning were pulling them in! A guy about 20 ft from me near Mayo Bride was killing it, I was getting skunked. Might have been the last time I get out there for the shad fishing, too much on the agenda over the next few weeks, maybe I can sneak away one evening. Jim
  10. Thanks Simon! I'm attempting to head out there again today and tomorrow if my wife will let me With getting back to work next week, and then two months without a weekend off (photography business) I won't have much time.
  11. Went out again today for a few hours, weather wasn't too bad but a bit windy. This was caught just North of the Mayo Bride, in the rapid area as others were fishing in the calmer pools. http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/5126/fish09.jpg
  12. Really? How do you fish your shad dart? Chim: Tied it to the line, through a slipshot up it about 18 inches and just played with the retrieval speed. No idea if I was doing it right now not..hahaha Plan on heading out there again tomorrow after I do some yardwork...
  13. Skunked it....As expected. It was pretty cool out (more than I thought when I left the house) and the wind was pretty tough.
  14. Wife is home, I'm off Daddy Duty for the next few hours. I'm off with my brother in law to Rooty, water will be cold I'm sure so it should be slow. On Spring Break, can't turn down anytime to fish!!
  15. Got out there for a little bit, it was raining a bit throughout and then it cleared up. Only got about 2 hours in, but had fun. Started at the old docks, and then moved up to 14th street near the Canal wall. Got a catfish (little under 4lbs and 20in) on a shad dart.
