  4. I guess the feather on the front gives the fish something to aim at so he has a better chance of not missing

  6. What channel is this "Lunkerville" on? I have never seen it.
  7. Yeah i do that alot and alot of times i catch a log or tree and my wife laughs ar me.. But i have also not missed any bites that i know of.
  8. HEy thanks for the replies guys! I got a pretty decent MH fast action gander mountain tourn rod i paid 80 bucks for i am real happy with it so far. And i just picked up 2 Med gander bass series rods they feel alot better than the other rods i was using. I have the 7 foot spooled with 50 lb power pro, and i have the 6 6 spooled with 40 lb power pro and the 6 ft rod is spooled with 14 lb trilene xt
  9. Swimming pen creek that runs into doc lake... Its had some good activity. Get there early. -Randy
  10. I took my first shot at it last week, started same place and headed in the same direction got 2... about 16 inches. Went back next morning 7 am to 12, and didnt get a bite!! tried around the pass around the same side we got the 2 the nite before, and then i headed to melrose bay i guess it is, there is a area there with cypress trees all around and we fished up in there water was pretty clear there and lots of fallen trees. No luck however! Didnt even see any action from fish outside the normal action in the pass there. Your in jacksonville? so you ever fish doc lake? or the st johns ? -Randy -Randy B
  11. what is this ? an underwater camera? or a sonar that picks up off and away from the boat?

  13. I like the polymar as well with the braid, i tend to use improved clinch with other lines though.Good luck. I gotta start practicing on my uni knot now! -Randy
  14. Thanks for the reply! yeah thats the part of the line i have been trying to keep an eye on.. But i guess i havnt trusted my line watching technique becasue unconsiously i stop watching it and startgetting in slight contact with my bait, and just kinda twitch it along the bottom every 15 seconds or so. and then i cant even explain what i even feel when i set the hook and bring one in it seems to all happen so fast. Just wondering if there are any lines rod combos out there that will make this easier for me...
  15. I am using a 6 6 med action rod and a abu garcia spinning reel with 40 lb p pro braid to fish my worms. I dont feel like i have missed many bites when i get them maybe 1 or 2. But could i be getting undetected bites? I have a hard time seeing this line i have almost got to a point where during the fall i give her a jer just in case. I have hooked 2 fish like that on senkos. I fish is pretty stained water here in FL. My other rod and reel i fish with is a MH fast action Gander rod with a Daiwa exceler bc reel. 6 3 1 . I have 50 lb spooled on it I use it for my heavier baits and cranking . Although i havnt caught a fish on it yet ive only had it out once. So in case i am missing something it seems like an alright setup? When watching your line? You want to watch the part that is in the water i take it? I try to watch it all but the braid seems to lay on top then slowly go down with the bait. It being dark colored its hard to see i guess. Any recommendations? What can i do as far as rod or line setup? I like the reel on my spinner setup, but i will be purchasing a new rod for it soon. Will a specific kind help? -Randy
  16. I went out night fishing the other night for the first time.. Actually started at 5 pm didnt plan to stay til 10 but we did... I wasnt prepared i had no lights or anything. Boy was rigging your worms and what not hell! What do you guys do for light during night fishing? Just some helpful hints and techniques would be great thanks! -Randy
  17. I think that #3 is the answer to #2. After discussing this thread with my 2 best fishin' buddies as well as when we caught fish and where, we reached the conclusion that (at least where we fish) when the weather gets hot, water temperature trumps structure. We've found that once the water gets warm, the bass will leave their traditional grounds and head for the deeper/colder channels. Areas that aren't worth fishing when conditions are ideal. I think im gonna devote next weeks fishing to a C rig and some deep water hunting! -RAndy
  18. The vid doesnt impress me.
  19. Sorry for not making REF to you RW you are in fact the person i got the info from just passin it on maybe it will work for others
  20. Jeez i feel your pain this morning i was watching bass demolish pods of bait, and i threw everything i had at them. Worms, spinner bait, Buzzbait, jerk bait, cranks, lipless cranks, frogs, hell even through a wounded real fish i caught and put on the hook maybe it was to big it stunk though lol..... I didnt so much as get a nibble I am going to pickup some Spooks, and puppies see if they wont hit it next time.
  21. Excellent thanks for the suggestions! I have been looking local for the fat ika but apparently i am gonna have to order them direct! What colors do you guys suggest. In very stained water?
  22. I go out to swimming pen creek off of doctors lake which is off the st johns river here in florida. 2 diffferent time we go out to this specific area/spot, and there is a 60 ft strip of pretty tall coontail/grass i guess thats what it is. we have got a few on the outside corner of it 2.5 lb range. Anyways this morning my wife wants me to put her on a fish i am thinking oh yeah def so i take her to the place where i have had success both times. So we get there its about 620am water is like 86degrees nice morning. Not so much a a hit or bite or whatever! up into that tall coontail/grass close to shore line(which is probly 15 ft from the outer edge ). This Bass is just covering ground nailing stuff. He drove me nuts last week when i went out after i got 2 and stopped catching i chased him as much as i could got stuff caught up in the grass cursing it pulling on the grass laughing at myself! He is always there i dont know if its 1 or more than 1 screwing with me, but he made me lok very stupid again this morning. Ok back to this mornings fishing there were fish all around us chasing pods of bait and nailing them then all the sudden 50 ft away they would do it again 4 minutes later! What do i do when this happens and i cant get a bite? I tried frogs, spinnerbaits, worms, jerk bait, superfluke, crank, swimming, even a d**n wounded fish i caught by hand! Advice ? Anyone help me get my wife on a fish so she can understand how exciting it is! She now thinks i fabbed the pic of the fish lol Sorry if this is wrong place it may be my first topic started -Randy
  23. 1. The spray on sun screen bar none! Rocks! Thanks you wife! 2. I cant buy a fish sometimes is it the heat? They will be nailing bait fish around me but i cant geta bite! Trying numerous top water, cranks, worms jeez! There has been alot of rain lately ? 3. I wish i could brake the habit of wanting to fish visual cover and get out to the deep water any ideas ? -Randy
