Years ago I collided with a boat at a blind turn, luckley we were both taking it fairly easy, it was both of our faults he suffered more damage, Storm Vs Nitro. My boat went over his top and ripped the entire front cap off. I had a little scratch. I learned how fast a boat comes up on you while taking a turn, I had seats that have a raised sectioin for that reason, they allow me to kind of sit higher and operate the boat, but I crawl through those trails. Fishing big and sloppy. Grass and hycnth everywhere. Their spraying like mad so lots of dieing vegetation. But the fish still have to eat. 23 won the Christian Trail up north 60 some odd boats, we came in just out of the money with 15 I think 16 cashed a check.

Not a fan of west coast of Florida when it comes to bass fishing. Big fan when it comes to Salt water.

Pretty much sums it up only to add I would omit Lake O for double digit bass, while its unbeatable in numbers of 8s and 9s it doesn't have the cool water to produce the hogs like Toho. While it doesn't seem like its much farther up north it is enough to give the slow down of the bass metabolism causing them to grow. Okeechobees bass are fast growing, fast breeding, and fast dieing, hence the reason they start spawning so much earlier then other areas, the warm water has the in high gear. And also as to the bass staying in one area I used to think that but they travel miles and miles, locks don't stop them like you think, they come into and out, and there brought in and out by tournaments. As to DD bass in DW, I doubt a guide is going to find and bring you to beds or staging areas, he's programed to bring tourists to a certain area that he knows will produce numbers and lots of action, could you get one absolutely, but if thats your only real goal I would opt for TOHO, its the Hog capital of the Hog state in my opinion.

For the money they charge you would be better off getting a guide at TOHO, a short drive away and half the price, plus you have a chance at a double digit. On the down side the guide isn't dressed in a Donald Duck suit at TOHO.

It would work fine and it may even land you a bigger fish then whats schooling, at times Big bass wait under the schools to get the injured fish that are falling down. Remember bigger fish dont like expending energy and are opportunist . In fact many specie's of fish including big Marlin and Wahoo are caught under schools of Dolphin I caught a 7 3/4 and 6 to win a tournament by worming under active schools. The dinks were on top. You have to have serious patience and confidence but its worked for many a time with bass.

Sometimes 2 weeks is like a year on that lake. If he's good he's off to the next batch while everyones chasing old fish. Toho has a lot of local tournaments and trails, way more then Okee. I'm surprised Kissimmee is out of the mix but I guess thats basically TOHO

My partner just committed, or I might have hooked up with you. He's fishing less and less lately. I may be hunting for a new partner. One that fishes.

Found it, nice I like that better. I wish they split Clewiston and Okee tanti 2 and 2 but Im sure Martin has a little pull on that decision. Lots of the Toho Harris guys are ticked because of this, I would have thought they would have added another division. Moneys tight people dont want to be traveling

I heard they changed the divisions around for next year and that they will basically stay in one lake in each division? Anyone have a link? Or can verify it?

I finally got out Saturday for about 4 hours. I did all right just jumping around on the north end, probably had about 16 lb, I raised a monster on a top water plug but he completely missed the bait. No pattern nor were they bunched up, just solid fish everywhere I tried. And with the exception of two fish they were on different baits.

Pro Traps with the little willow leaf blade, if you can still get them.

Sorry buddy but if your referring to Okeechobee theres a lot of misconception in your post. First of all there is no fixed rule of bass fishing anywhere, second of all while motor oil is an excellent color it is by far not the best color in Florida swamps like Okee and Kiss. What soft bottom lake are you referring to, stick your rod tip into the water on Big O too hard and youll break your tip. With all due respect there is too much of an "absolute" vibe going on there. I cant speak for lake of the Ozarks but as far as Okeechobee is concerned iv had fish chase baits 20 yards like a torpedo.

I haven't fished the canals out west in over 30 years, I used to fish all over but there were few homes. I recently moved to Cooper City, after spending some 45 ot years in Hollywood, during my runs/walk out here I notice the condition of the canals water is very nasty as to what I remember it to be, also lots of garbage around the main roads. Maybe its due to the high water and all the pumping. Saw a few decent size peacock off 90th and something big running bait in the Griffin Rd. canal around 110th. Good pizza out here.

It depends on where you fish. whats good in some places wont work in others. But I can tell you with 5lb test theres not many places you would be able to fish for LM, the knot strength alone wouldn't make it. Tell us about your home lake. When I first started fishing from shore in fairly open lakes I opted for 12-15. also if you want to save about 3000 a year on tackle, stop now and start collecting stamps
