  1. While I usually only use 1 piece rods, I recently decided to purchase a inexpensive 2 piece rod just to keep in my trunk and picked up a Daiwa AIRD662MHXB off Amazon for $36 and free shipping with my Prime membership. I have noticed they change the price between $36 and $44 at different times of the day. While I have not fished with it yet (and may not for sometime), I know the sensitivity will be not be anywhere near what I am use to with my Loomis rods but would rather have it with me than no rod at all. St Croix Premier line also offers two different 2 piece rods, the PC66MF2 $130 and PC66MHF2 $140 that would be more in the price range you are looking for and offer decent sensitivity. I have not fished with the 2 piece but have fished the PC66MF before and found it to be a very versatile rod.
  2. I use 30# PP on all but one of my reels (11 total) and most are Curado 50E or 100D. Choosing a rod is very important when throwing small lures and coming from someone who hates using spinning reels I have experimented quite a bit. I currently use a G Loomis CBR841 for the lightest stuff but before upgrading my collection, I started with a Shimano Sellus 6'8" medium power crankbait rod (feels like a med/light) which also worked great depending on your budget. As long as the winds not blowing strong in my face, I have no problem with 1/8 oz cranks as long as I don't throw it like I'm trying to get the same distance I would from 3/8 oz.
  3. Although not a member, John 22yo was an avid bass fisherman and a very good friend with whom I shared my home with for past 1y9m. He fished almost every day year around from the time he woke up (usually early afternoon) until dusk. Sunday Sept 15 2013 John passed away in his favorite fishing hole which is a private lake he fished most of the time. He was seen by someone taking a break from fishing and going for a swim in the afternoon but appeared fine. Search team including officers on the ground, tracking dog and helicopter search that night but his body was not found until next day by dive team. Still in shock but wanted to post something in his honor as his funeral is today. 4. Bought the same rod this morning to pair to one of my 3 Curado 50e's. Can't pass up a good sale! Just started Bass fishing last fall and have already dumped the low end combo's and bought 3 50e, 1 200e5 and still looking. Now I just have to start buying some decent rods to go with them. Currently have a MH Carrot micro (great feel but worried after reading posts) MH Sellus and the rods off my previous combos. I have my eye on the Phenix M1 but waiting for a sale.
