  5. That's because you have HTML code in your sig. The forum software "burps" on it and spits it out. Your avatar shows up as a blank image. But that's because you don't have an image designated. So it shows nothing....another bug in the system. It should probably default to "no image" instead of trying to find something, and then showing a "blank image" error instead.
  6. ya, I have to admit, there is some weirdness with the latest version of the forum software. You guys don't know it, but us moderators get a "-1" count on our PM notification all the time. Sometimes we'll get a PM, but won't know it unless we actually look in our PM box (no notification). The "extra" or "weird" characters in sigs are a result of an update glitch a few updates ago. They still exist today, even though the bug has been fixed. All things aren't perfect. But these are minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things.
  7. Sounds to me like somebody's trying find an excuse for not returning PM's. ;D
  8. If you say so.... 8-) : Go to your room kids! Sheesh, I hate it when I have to treat grown men like children.
  9. Dan - you know exactly why this is occuring. No need for me to explain it.
  10. Nope. Get off your lazy butt and do something for once. ;D
  11. It only affects a small geographical area.
  12. No, but I remember watching the Orlando Wilson show.
  13. Let's not get into it please. These discussions never turns out good here. Let's move on please before it turns into a fight where we have to lock down the thread. There are tons of threads on this forum regarding fishing during the spawn. I highly encourage y'all to use the search feature and read through them. I'm certain you will quickly learn it's a never-ending argument based (mostly) on feelings.
  14. You are correct Simp!
  15. So they're basing their regulations off a single, 33-year-old study? WOW! Remember, back then the popular thinking was that bass stayed in the shade because the sun hurt their eyes! ;D Note: I'm not advocating breaking the law because of the above. But I do think it's time they revisit the reasons/motivations behind their regulations and update them based upon modern science.
  16. Yep, I'm aware of it. Trust me, it's got nothing to do with you. Apologies, but it's going to be that way indefinitely.
  17. gatorblazer - I hope you weren't the guy backing Swindle's trailor down the last day of practice. Swindle and I were waiting on the poor guy, but he just couldn't get it. He over-corrected so many times, Swindle finally turned to me and said, "Man he looks just like an 'ol cottonmouth coming down the ramp, doesn't he?" ;D
  18. I had no idea some guys had beards that tough. Oh, what? Grass? You mean....OH! Never mind. ;D
  19. SureLife + ice + hydrogen peroxide = Healthy Fish Anything else is a gamble.
  20. I always use the side mirrors. I just watch the wheel of the trailer in relation to the truck and the edge of something (a paint stripe, outer edge of the ramp, etc.). If starts to stray one way or the other too much, I just correct it using the following simple rule: Place your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. Then move your hand in the direction that you want the trailer to go. Simple. Hope that helps!
  21. That was the mirror man!
  22. It's a matter of following your state regulations instead of trying to reason your way out of it. Don't like your state's regs? Send a letter to them, or better yet, attend their meetings. They're open to the public, and even allow public comment. Contact them to find out their processes, then go for it! You CAN make a difference. Until then, you need to follow the regs whether or not you agree with them.
  23. Let's not get into it please. Science vs. emotions never turns out good here. Let's move on please before it turns into a fight where we have to lock down the thread.
  24. Oh boy, here we go yet again. 2 more months of this to go too. :-/ Do a search for "spawn" and read through the numerous multi-page threads on this topic. I'm absolutely convinced that everything that's been said about this topic has been said here before. You'll find a gold mine of information if you take the time to use the search feature. Enjoy!
  25. I've actually spent quite a bit of time researching this, as well as experiencing it. I won't anchor in winds that strong. Usually the waves make the boat bounce around and all you end up doing is damaging the cleat where you tie your anchor to. Instead, I let the wind push me, using the trolling motor to help guide the boat. Wind blown banks? You betcha! They can be gold mines, or total busts. You just have to try them. I know of a few banks on my local lakes that absolutely suck unless there's a strong wind blowing against them. Then it's game on! In addition to the great advice already given by many folks in this thread, here's a few articles on fishing the wind: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fishing_in_the_wind.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/wind_fish.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_fishing_wind.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/wind_fishing.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/wind_bass.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/wind.html
