  1. hey all, i just picked a few of these up at my local Gander Mtn. replaced my Ugly Stick spinning rod and went ahead and got the 7' worm and jig medium heavy casting rod for my new accurist 570 pt (not sure if it's the best match up though, i'm considering putting the 570 on my BPS Extreme and the Qualifier on my new Elite) Just wanted to say that they're a great rod for the price (on clearance for $40 up here) so if you're looking for a new rod but dont want to drop a ton of money you may want to give them a shot. I'm pretty pleased with them AnglerMangler
  2. we caught our inaugural bass in our new jon boat yesterday. My fiance caught it on a strike king green pumpkin jig with a rage tail craw trailer. We were throwing to some underwater trees for about 30 minutes and finally got one. It was a 16" bass I got a picture but as I am an idiot I did not save the picture but I figured you would believe me about it since I'm not claiming it as my own AnglerMangler
  3. def. will be posting pics. I'm gonna be taking it over to my bosses house this weekend to look at what we can do for decks and a live well and what not. I'm gonna use some of the ideas from the people on here for decks also so i will be sure to keep everyone updated. AnglerMangler
  4. Betty is the boat the one under her putting the plates on is Kat, my soon to be wife (getting married oct. 26 08). Decks are coming VERY VERY soon, my boss at work is helping me out with them and my hitch should be here wednesday or thursday so i can stop borrowing my dads truck and wasting his gas to go fishing. Still needs a trolling motor to put it in some lakes but that will come, right now we are using the outboard and the paddles and are ecstatic. We honestly can't believe we fell into such a great deal now we just need to work on the whole backing up thing haha. AnglerMangler
  5. 73 Polarcraft 14' with a 78 Spirit 16 hp motor (runs great) and trailer for a whopping $600 from a friend at work and one of me with a fish AnglerMangler
  6. gonna go with the 14' and the main reason is because i know for sure that the motor works and is in better working condition. will have pics fridayish AnglerMangler
  7. decks will be added but i'm currently considering a 14' jon boat with trailer and 16 horse motor for $600. will keep you posted. AnglerMangler
  8. Got me an old 12' Jon Boat today. Have not picked it up yet as there are 2 people currently on the title and he's going to have him sign it and then will get a hold of me when I can go pick it up. Like I said it's a 12' aluminum jon boat with a 7.5 hp Gamefisher outboard, 17 thrust lb trolling motor, new battery and trailer all for the grand total of $550 will get pics ASAP (probably this weekend) AnglerMangler
  9. thanks for the replies all, i really hope it works out for me cause right now i'm down to 1 baitcaster and have personally never had a problem with quantums in the past but have only used their spinning reels. Thanks again and i'm really hoping for the best here. AnglerMangler
  10. just put a braid on one of my baitcasters, used it for a little bit of everything (well everything but top water) from jigs to worms to crank baits (lipped and lip less). I absolutley love it, you can really feel EVERY piece of anything you touch. I replaced my fluorocarbon with the braid on my spool and will not be buying fluoro anytime soon. The hook set and sensitivity on the braid is unbeatable in my opinion. AnglerMangler
  11. i just used my last Rage Tail Craw that was used a a jig trailer, I didn't catch a single fish on them until my last 2 lol don't you love that, just about when you're ready to switch back to old they start working for you. So now it's off to Gander Mtn. to pick up some more lol. Good luck with them. AnglerMangler
  12. I'm just curious as to why so many fisherman out there have such strong feelings about Quantum reels? I've been using a Quantum spinning reel for quite some time that I got used from my father in law who used it for quite a while too and I honestly love the reel, it's been on 3 different rods since I got it and wont be leaving my side for a while. I am not bad mouthing anyone I'm just curious as to why so many have such issues with the company since I just ordered a new Accurist baitcaster with the 7.0 burner gears lol. AnglerMangler
  13. hey man, i have 2 suggestions for you as i was struggling too in the beginning. 1.)throw something heavier like an un hooked crank bait that is broken or terrible lol and put the line through where the back hook would be so you reel it in to you backwards. 2.) put on a heavy line (either mono or copolymer) I just started throwing my BPS Qualifier with 20# cxx on it (feels like guitar string) and it not only made it easier to cast but made the messes WAY more manageable since with a line that thick you can not spool nearly as much and the knots are WAY more noticeable. I went this route and am now throwing almost only my 2 baitcasters (well 1 at the moment as my tension knob went out again on my cabela's fish eagle tournament 2) the Qualifier still has the CXX 20# line on it and my Cabela's had suffix 20# braid with a 6# diameter that i only nested one time due to releasing too late and having the lure hit the water about 5 feet in front of me at full bore. Hope this helped AnglerMangler
  14. just got word of another guy at working selling a 12' alumicraft jon boat with a trailer, trolling motor (14 thrust pound), AND a 7.5 hp motor for $550. I was gonna try and go look at it and go for a "test ride" this weekend but the guy had a vacation day so doesn't look like it will happen this weekend but just wanted to see what you guys thought about the deal, it sounds pretty darn good to me. 15. Hey, I'm in Indiana but not opposed to traveling to get it if the price is right. How much are you wanting out of it? AnglerMangler
